Chairs to You! - May Stamp of the Month
Here is my card that I created for the hop!    I used the Wings Creative Basics Collection paper (X5812) for this card.   To give my chairs color, I first stamped them in Cocoa ink and colored them with watercolor pencils.  The I used a blending pen to blend the color.    The Juniper ribbon in the middle is included in the Wings Creative Basics pack - you get 4 yards of ribbon!  The cocoa ribbon is from the Cocoa Designer Ribbon Collection (Z1316) which includes 4 different ribbon (6 feet each)

I hope you enjoyed my card!

Now hop on over to DEBBIE LITTLE'S BLOG and see what she has created!  Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Remember, the April SOTM is only available until April 30!  Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount or even free!

Life Is Good in Mayberry!

If you have read my previous posts you know how much I love the Mayberry paper from Close To My Heart.   In May, my clubs are going to be doing the Mayberry Workshop on the Go kit.   I found the perfect pictures for the feature layout.    I still need to find just a couple more and the layout will be complete but I wanted to go ahead and share.    My daughter is now 21 years old and I'm not organized enough to find pictures easily.    I'm still at the 'box' stage for anything older than 6 years!  It takes me FOREVER to dig through photo boxes.   When I find one, I have to scan it, adjust the color, crop it and then print.   Back when Kirsti was little, I was not a scrapbooker so my pictures weren't taken with pages in mind like I do now.   Sometimes now, I will take a picture to MATCH the paper!  Is that backwards or what?!

Here is my Mayberry layout that is the Feature Layout of the WOTG kit.   (Kirsti is the one with the blond hair and my niece is the other little cutie.  They are the same age.)

The Mayberry Kit comes with Canvas Badge buttons that have a very strong adhesive back.  You can stamp on the buttons.  (The center of the flower on the left page is a stamped button, as are the "apples" in the upper right corner of the right page).   I used the pear and apple stamps from the stamp set that is included in the kit to stamp on the button.   This set is just adorable!  You can only get this stamp set when you purchase the Mayberry WOTG Kit.  It is (the stamp set) not available in the book.

Here is my other layout.   I still need to add pictures and a title.  The cutting directions for this layout can be found in Magic: Raise The Curtain.   There are step by step instructions for this layout on my website under the Workshops on the Go tab.   You can find it HERE.

See how I used the flower and the cherry to stamp on the badge buttons?

If you would like to join me in this workshop on May 26,  contact me today to order your kit.   Live far away?  Order the kit from my website!    You'll get the Mayberry Level 2 paper pack, Mayberry exclusive stamp set, Canvas Badge Buttons and step by step instruction guide to do the feature layout and even 6 cards!  All this for just $34.95!  What a deal!    The Kit is item #G1022

Other items you will need to complete the Layout as shown above are:
Olive Ink (Z2137)
Smoothie Ink (Z2196)
1 1/4" Circle Punch (Z1311)
1 x 1 My Acrylix Block (Y1000)
1 x 3 1/2 My Acrylix Block (Y1002)
2 1/2 x 2 1/2 My Acrylix Block (Y1004)

I also used the My Acrylix Token Alphabet (E1020) for my title.

H2H - Bunny Hop!

Are you ready to see some Easter and spring cards?   Today, H2H is hosting a Bunny Hop!    We were asked to create anything Easter theme or 'springy'.    For the first time in a week I finally had a chance to sit down at my scrap table and do some creating.   Only creativity level was running on empty.      I searched around for something really cool to create - maybe a 3D item.    But it just wasn't meant to be!   I couldn't pull it out of me.

I reached for my #1 paper pack  - Mayberry.   This paper just says "EASTER" to me.   Maybe it is because the colors remind me of the Easter eggs we used to dye as kids.  I decided to make a "Spring" card using a card from CTMH's xlear card set.  The challenge in creating with the clear cards is you have to think 2 dimensional as you create.  So as you are creating the front, you have to think about the other side and how you will hide the adhesive of the pieces you've attached to the front. Also - do you want something on the inside to show through to the front?   These cards can be alot of fun to work with.

Here is my Card:
Laying Flat

Inside - Back of front cover hides the adhesive of the front side.
The front cover hides the sentiment piece on the inside.

View from the top - Looking down on the card
4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Clear Card (Z1323)
Mayberry Level 2 Paper (X7136)
Cocoa Cardstock (included in Mayberry pack)
Colonial White Cardstock (included in Mayberry pack)
Cocoa Ink (Z2114)
Smoothie Ink (Z2196)
Stamp:  Spring Up B1365
Natural Hemp (Z280)
1 1/4 Circle Punch (Z1311)
Colonial White Mini Medley Collection (Z1276)

4 Crafty Chicks - Getting Sketchy!

I love it when I find blogs that challenge my creativity!  I found another challenge blog over at 4 Crafty Chicks.   This one is a sketch challenge.   I loved the sketch when it was posted and couldn't wait to try it out.   Problem was.... I really was not feeling the 'love' when I sat down to make some cards for a few challenge blogs.   The first card I made for 4 Crafty Chicks I wasn't happy with.   So I decided to move on to another challenge.   As I was making my card for the next challenge with the Mayberry paper from Close To My Heart, it hit me..... This is the paper I needed to use for the 4 Crafty Chicks challenge!  I couldn't wait to get back to it.  I was much happier with the end result.  I hope you like it!

Here is the sketch for Challenge #33.

Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC76 - Bless This Nest

One more card to show before I am banned to the bleachers at the softball fields for the next three nights! This is for the Play Date Cafe Challenge.   This one is a color challenge.  Here are the colors we were supposed to use:

BEAUTIFUL!  I love them!  SO I just had to create something with these colors.    The Close To My Heart colors that I felt were close to these colors are: Pacifica, Dutch Blue and Topiary.    I chose "Bless This Nest" stamp to use for my card.   It's a favorite of mine and I have made several other cards with this set but have not used this particular stamp from the set!

Here is my card:

I used the "Gallery" pattern from Originals.
Cardstock:  Pacifica, Dutch Blue and White Daisey
Stamp: Bless This Nest (C1445) and Eclectic Edges (C1450)
Ink: Topiary
Accents:  Sparkles - Blue & Green Assortment, White Daisy Grosgrain Ribbon

Mojo Monday #186 - BINGO!

Finally I got some MOJO!  I was beginning to have withdrawals from my scraproom and Mojo Monday was just the fix I needed.   For this week's Mojo I wanted to use a stampset that I haven't used yet.    Sitting in my box all nice and clean was my Bingo Alphabet set.   I loved this set the moment I saw it and it was one of the first stamps I purchased from Close To My Heart's new Spring/Summer Idea Book.  But I still had not used it!  This stamp coordinates so well with the Lucky paper that I decided to use paper from this pack for my card.    Here is this week's Mojo sketch:

Here is my Birthday card using this sketch:

All Products are Close To My Heart

Lucky Level 2 Paper (X7137B)
Bingo Alphabet (D1478)
Kraft Cardstock (Z1375)
Sunset Cardstock (X5758)

Kraft Color Ready Border (Z1377)
Natural Hemp (Z280)

On This Day - Creative Ideas!

YIKES! It is Thursday already and I have not had time to do any creating this week! I've been working many long hours in what I call my 'real job' and attending my daughter's softball games at night.  My scrap room is probably wondering where I've been!

Since I haven't had time to do some creating of my own, I thought I'd share this Close To My Heart video that shares some really neat ideas for using the On This Day stamp.   This is a stamp that has been on my 'wish list' but I wasn't sure what I'd do with it.   Now I've got some ideas and maybe you will too!

Enjoy!   Hopefully soon I'll have some things of my own to share!

Play Date Cafe Challenge - Hope for Japan

I've been pondering this week's colors on The Play Date Cafe Challenge Blog since they were posted.   I love the colors!   I had to think about it a few days deciding what stamp I would use.    Then I thought.... What a great opportunity to show off our special Hope for Japan stamp set!   This exclusive stamp was designed for a cause - to help in the relief efforts after Japan's earthquake and devastating Tsunami.  This A-size stamp would normally be priced at $7.95 but Close To My Heart is offering it for just $5 and every bit of that $5 goes to the American Red Cross.    Consultant's get no commission off the sale of this stamp and this makes me very proud to be a part of this effort!

Here is the color inspiration:

And my creation using these colors:

I used Close To My Heart's colors of Juniper, Tulip and Silver Embossing.  All products are Close To My Heart.  For complete recipe list see below.

My 'real' job is working in Manufacturing Accounting for a Japanese Auto Manufacturer here in the US so we are constantly thinking of our sister company back in Japan and the plants and suppliers there.   I was so touched when Close To My Heart announced this special campaign.    This stamp is only available during the month of April.    To see the stamp and find out how you can get yours, just click on the Hope For Japan button in the upper left corner of my blog.

Be sure to check out the other Play Date Cafe creations HERE!
