Poster Tidings - September Stamp of the Month

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring Poster Tidings, a set of 2 large stamps. If you have come here from Lalia's Blog you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE.

We have over 50 consultants participating in the hop. Following the hop is easy, just click on the link at the end of the post and it will hop you right over to the next blog!

My project I'm sharing actually started out as a card. I was going to use a sketch from the Make It From Your Heart book and adjust the sizing to create a 5x7 card instead of 4 1/4 x 5 3/4. Something happened along the way. An idea hit me just as I was stamping the individual words. (I love it when this happens - it gets me excited about what I'm creating!) As I was stamping the words I was thinking "This would be great on canvas!". So I stopped, put away my water based inks and got out my pigments inks. Because you know.... when you create any home decor you should use pigment inks! This is because the light will eventually fade your images stamped in water based inks when they sit out - just in case you didn't know!

I pulled out my Huntington paper pack (X7174B) - the perfect choice for anything fall and created this 6x6 My Creations Canvas (Z1818) to create a lovely fall home decor to display for the Thanksgiving Holiday!

I stamped the autumn themed image once on the Desert Sand cardstock with Cocoa Pigment Ink and then stamped the four larger words individually with Olive, Barn Red and Autumn Terracotta pigment ink. I cut each word out. I adhered them to the large 'poster' with foam tape to make them stand out. Next I added banners with additional Huntington paper and burlap ribbon. Spool tops from the Huntington Assortment (Z1881) make great accents with a piece of Hemp Baker's Twine from the Mini Medley Accents Wooden Collection (Z1837). I also added two pearl badge buttons from the Mini Medley Accents Rosewood Collection (Z1857).

My final touch was to add Jute Ribbon (Z1867) around the outer edge to give my canvas a finished look.

Of course I had to add just one more project to this Stamp of the Month Blog Hop so I created this fall card-

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Colonial White Cards & Envelope
Poster Tidings
Inks: Barn Red, Olive, Cocoa and Autumn Terracotta
Natural Hemp - Z280
Color Ready Mid-Town Cork Shapes (Z1863)
Mini Medley Accents Rosewood Collection (Z1857)
Leaf - Artbooking Cricut Cartridge (Z1906)
Sentiment - Always Grateful (C1559)

Be sure to come back and visit!  I've got a couple of Christmas Cards to share with the other stamp in this set!

Now, hop on over to Karen's Blog blog to see what she has in store for you!

The Party Is On!

I'm taking a short little vacation with my hubby over this upcoming long Labor Day Weekend.  It's been quite a summer and we really never got any kind of vacation time in.  So we decided to take a little trip to Asheville, North Carolina.  It's a place I've always wanted to go but never took the time!  So off we go!

But while I'm gone, I wanted to share another Hostess Only Stamp set that any Hostess can choose with rewards from a book party or gathering.  There are 7 Hostess Only stamp sets and the best part about these are that Hostess can get them at a reduced rate!  What a deal!

For this card I used The Party Is On set (only $8.00 for Hostess) and of course one of my favorite paper packs this season - Sarita. The sketch design is from our new Make It From Your Heart Vol 2.

Make It From Your Heart Vol. 2 (9042)

A Quick Hello

Have you ever come upon a sketch that you just HAD to do?  Every day I check lots of sketch challenges and I like most that I see.  But occasionally, I come across one that becomes a MUST DO before the week is out no matter how busy I am.   I've had a very busy week last week with two Hostess Clubs meeting, a workshop on Sunday and getting various post ready for upcoming blog hops.

On Sunday I saw the sketch for Paper Players challenge and I just couldn't quit thinking about what I wanted to do with it!  I have so many other things I need to be doing, like doing the wash and prepping for an upcoming trip, getting ready for my other two Hostess Clubs that meet this week, but I stopped everything for about 30 minutes last night to create a card for the Paper Players sketch.

This is a very easy and simple card and probably total time to put together took about 10 minutes.  It was hem-hawing around about WHICH stamp to use and WHAT color to stamp that took the longest.

See!  Very SIMPLE but I think it turned out nice.   I used the Lagoon (Z1850) and Slate (Z1817) Washi Tapes from Close To My Heart.  Next, I wrapped around some Slate Bakers Twine from the Baker's Twine Neutral Assortment (Z1701).  My 'hello' stamp is from the set that is included in the Artiste Cricut Collection - so of course I cut the image out before stamping.   Ink color - Slate Pigment Ink.   My green Aqua Dots (Z1853)  are the final touch.

Here is the Paper Player's Sketch:

I'm off to Asheville, North Carolina later this week but have a couple of post scheduled so be sure to come back and see what I have to share!   Thanks for stopping by today!

Artbooking In August Week 4 - Photo Box

Wow....this is our last Monday in August so that means this is my last post for the Artbooking in August blog hop!  It's been fun and I hope you have been inspired by all of our consultant's fantastic artwork!

Each Monday in August we were tasked with creating one of each of the following (in any order):
1. Card
2. Layout
3. Mini Album
4. Home Decor or gift item (My feature project today!)
If you missed the previous Artbooking Monday posts, you can click on any of the above links and it will take you to my project.

The hop is one big circle so when you get back to me you will have completed the hop!  If you came from Cassandra Bennett's blog you are on the right track!   Just look for the next blog link at the bottom of my post and it will take you to the next blog.

I decided to create a keepsake box for my last project.

I covered a My Creations Card Box (Z1647) with Sarita Paper (X7171B).   I added an Outdoor Denim overlay using the Snapshot Mini Album Overlay on page 40.  This box measures 6 3/8"x 2 1/8" x 4 3/4" so I set the dial size at 6".  I used REAL DIAL SIZE when I cut the banners, "classified" and the stamped images.  The stampset I used is one of the sets that is included in the Artbooking Cricut Collection.

Here is a view from the top:

I used the Sarita Textiles (Z1885) to create my rosette accent for the box and centered it with an etched wooden shape from the Sarita Assortment (Z1873).   I also used a heart shape from this assortment on the front of my box.

I hope you have enjoyed the artwork we have shared from the Artbooking Cricut Collection.  If you are inspired to order this collection for your own, please contact your consultant or you may order from my website at

Now it's time to hop over the FABULOUS Adeline Brille's blog!  Be sure to leave her some love for coordinating this hop!

Celebrate Today with Laughing Lola

Today is my sister's birthday!  I had just the sketch I wanted to use for her card!  This sketch comes from Mojo Monday.  It's been a while since I've got to play along with Mojo Monday (or any other challenge actually!).  I've so many other priorities taking up all my time.

I selected the Laughing Lola (X7170B) paper because it seems to reflect Kathie's style so well.  The card base is set upon Laughing Lola purple cardstock (exclusive color to this paper pack) layered on Black Cardstock.   The card measures 7 x 5.  The sentiment is from the Hostess Exclusive set - The Party Is On (C1568).  I love this stamp set.  It is available ONLY to Hostess so one must host a gathering to get it!  I stamped this onto a shape I cut from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

I used Black Shimmer Trim (Z1809) for one of the banners at the top.  The leopard print banner is from one of the zip strips from the Laughing Lola paper.  The middle banner is from one of theLaughing Lola pattern papers.

The amount of white space seemed to be too much so I used the background splatter stamp from the Laughing Lola Workshop On the Go Kit (G1065) to add a pattern.  I first inked the stamp in Lagoon Ink and then rolled it in Black ink.  I used the 2nd generation stamping technique to stamp onto my shape.  I think this was just enough to add a little something but not take away from the sentiment.                                    I created a sequin embellishment using the sequin ribbon from the Mini Medley Black Collection (Z1862) and a Base & Bling Adhesive Dot (Z1903).   I wound the sequin ribbon around the adhesive dot staring in the middle and wrapped the end under the base.  (Another great use for the Base & Bling Adhesive!)  I added a glitter button to the center and scattered some sequin dots around the card.

Here is the Mojo Monday Sketch I used for this card:

Chocolate Is Good for You!

Have you had enough Chocolate this month?  I haven't!  I just love this month's Stamp of the Month! It's a keeper among my hundreds of stamp sets!

Here is another card I created with A Chocolate Affair (August Stamp of the Month) with the Babycakes Paper (X7173B).

I used Close To My Heart's new Scallop Border Punch (Z1851) to create my border.  To create my multi-color cupcake I used the masking technique. I used Creme Brulee, Chocolate and White Daisy Pigment Ink to stamp my cupcake.  I added Mocha Opaque Adhesive (Z1333) gems to the topping.

A Chocolate Affair is only available until August 31st! AND.... you can get it for FREE with a $50 purchase from Close To My Heart!  How SWEET IS THAT??!!!

Artbooking in August Week 3 - Mini Album

This is our 3rd Monday for Artbooking in August!  I hope you are being inspired by all of the creativity!  If you are just joining me, each Monday in August over 30 consultants are creating either a card, a layout, a mini album or a 3-D object with the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge.

This hop is one big circle so when you get back to me you know you have completed the hop.  If you have come here from Cassandra Bennett's blog you are on the right track!

This week I'm sharing a mini-album I created using our new Designed Decor' Flip Stand (Z1896). This clear acrylic stand is great for displaying photos up to 6 1/2 x 5 3/4.  The stand has a slot for inserting a background image or photograph.    I created my stand to represent my 10 Reasons I Love being a Close To My Consultant!

I used Chantilly Paper (X7163B).  I used various pages from the Artbooking mini album pages.

Now hop on over the Adeline Brill's Blog and see what she has for you!

Follow Your Dreamsl

Today my oldest daughter will graduate from Middle Tennessee State University!
I'm so proud of her!

Her dream has always been to move to a big city.   Murfreesboro, Tennessee isn't a small town anymore by any means but like most young people her age, they aspire to move on to a bigger place. I created this card to give to her for graduation.

The stamp I used is called Cityscape (C1563).  I knew the moment I saw the stamp in the Autumn Winter book that I would be getting it and creating something for Kirsti!  It just reminds me so much of her!  I stamped four of the buildings with black ink using the 2nd generation technique.  Then I stamped the other three buildings with black ink - 1st generation.  I trimmed each of the buildings. The buildings in the back are adhered to the card with glue dots.  The buildings in the front are adhered with foam tape to the give my little city dimension.   "Follow You Dreams" is from the Tommy WOTG stamp.  I added Black Shimmer Trim (Z1809) along with Black sequin ribbon and shimmer buttons from the Mini Medley Accents - Black Collection (Z1862).  My paper is from Laughing Lola (X7170B)

Thanks for stopping by!   I'm off to a graduation and celebration!

Another Chocolate Affair

If you're going to have an affair it might as well be with Chocolate! I love Close To My Heart's Stamp of the Month - A Chocolate Affair.   And this month it is an extra SPECIAL deal because when you purchase $50 in Close To My Heart Products you get this stamp ABSOLUTELY FREE!   What a deal!

I have another card to share that I created with this set.   Again I used the Babycakes Paper (X7173B).  This stripe just makes me think "Ice Cream Parlor".   So I thought it was a great background for the Sundae in this set.

To create my yummy sundae, First I created my dish.  I used 2nd generation stamping Slate Ink and then rolled the edge to get a darker color.  Kind of makes the glass 'shine'.   I added Liquid Applique (Z308) where the Ice Cream would be.   I stamped the chocolate topping and cut it out and placed on top of the ice cream adding a 'cherry' red sparkle to the top.  The shimmer on the topping is Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel (Z1313).  I added just a little bit and spread a thin layer with my finger over the chocolate topping. My sundae was added to a 2" scallop circle cut from my Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.

I added Bronze Shimmer Trim (Z1849) and a few sparkles from the Brown and Tan Sparkle Assortment (Z1753).

Be sure to get your FREE Chocolate Affair.

New Product Blog Hop - Burlap Bags

Welcome to our NEW PRODUCT Blog Hop!  This hop will take you through 34 consultant blogs introducing you to some of the best new products in the Autumn Winter Idea Book!  It's a big circle so when you get back to me you know you have been all the way around the hop! Just look for the next link near the bottom of each post.   If you came from Beth Naumann's Blog you are on the right track!

The 2013 Autumn Winter Idea was so full of fun new things I had a hard time deciding what to share!  When my new product arrived I spent most of my days creating cards with each new paper pack.   One night after creating a couple of cards I felt like I needed a break and reached for something totally different.  The product I reached for was our new My Creations Burlap Drawstring Bags (Z1872).  These 5 3/4" x 4 bags comes in a package of 3.

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know how much I love burlap!  So of course, I would love these new burlap bags too!  They are great for giving small gifts!

The new Sparkle & Shine Textiles (Z1884) are perfect for Christmas gift wrap!  I used the Juniper piece on my bag. No sewing required! I used Base & Bling Adhesive Strips (Z1904) on the edges of the fabric to adhere to the burlap bag.  Next, I wrapped a piece of Ruby Chevron Ribbon (Z1846) around the fabric.

I love our new M-size stamps!  This stamp is "Santa's Greeting" (M1028).  I stamped the image in black ink onto a shape I cut from the Art Philosophy Cricut.  I stamped the image once more on a piece of Ruby Cardstock and cut it out.  Next, I adhered it on top of the same image on the shape using foam tape to give it dimension.  A blending pen and Juniper ink added color the "HO" on the bottom.

Ruby Mini Medley's (Z1861) add the final decorative touches to the burlap bag - a Corduroy button and metallic baker's twine.

All of these new products can be found on my website at

Now it's time to hop over to Jean McNulty's Blog.

Artbooking in August - Week 2

Hello!  Here we are in week two of our Artbooking in August Blog Hop!  It's been fun and I hope you are getting some wonderful ideas to use with your Artbooking cartridge!   If you came from Cassandra's Blog you are on the right track!  It's one big circle so when you get back to me you know you have completed the circle.   If you get lost along the way you can get back on track HERE.

Last week I created a two page layout using the Teamwork Layout from Artbooking.  I had some leftover scraps that I didn't want to go to waste so I used them on this card!

Again, I used the ProPlayer (X7172B) paper for this card.  The overlay was left over from my layout that I shared last week.  (you can see it HERE).  One of the great things about the Artbooking overlays is that you can easily cut them down to fit other projects leaving just the right amount of border.

The large arrows on the card are cut using the "BFF" shift Border key (from the Friendship Layout pg 79).
I layered some corrugated cardboard arrows from the ProPlayer Assortment (Z1879) on top of the arrows and tied them up with Black Hemp (Z282).  "You're A Star" is from one of the 3 stampsets that are included with the Artbooking Collection (Z1906).

I hope you are enjoying the blog hop!  We've got two more Mondays in August to share so be sure to come back!  If you don't have the Artbooking Collection yet, check with your local consultant or you can order it from my website at (Order in August and you will get the August Stamp of the Month - A Chocolate Affair for FREE!)

Now it's time to hop on to Adeline Brill's blog.  She coordinated this Artbooking in August (a huge task!) so please leave her a little love!

See you next week!

Autumn Winter Open House - New Close To My Heart Products!

Yesterday I held my annual Autumn Winter Open House.  It was so much fun and I had several people stop by to check out the new products from the Autumn Winter Idea Book!  If you missed my Open House, here are a few shots from yesterday!

This month's Stamp of the Month is called "A Chocolate Affair" so it was only appropriate that I had a Chocolate Theme going on!

This is the Make & Take area:

Everyone got to create the card I shared for the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - "Chocolate Understands".  Details for this card can be found HERE.  I displayed a couple of other options on our new Designed Decor Black Frame (Z1880).

I created the frame's title using the new Framework Alphabet (E1027) stamp.  This is a new favorite! I also used then new Corner Rounder (Z1912) to create the scalloped edge.
Here is a closer look:

Check out the new Hair Clip (Z1876)!  I used it as an accent to my frame!  This is one of the new Base & Bling pieces.  I used the Slate Houndstooth Sparkle & Shine Textiles (Z1884) to create my flower and added a rhinestone accented flower from the Base & Bling Floral Accents (Z1883)

Everyone go to check out all the new papers and see two completed Workshop on the Go Kits - Laughing Lola and Proplayer.  I had all the WOTG Kits there so they could see the contents of each kit including the stamps.  I also had a few other new products that coordinated with the paper packs.

Next was my display showcasing the new Hostess Reward Stamps.  (I'll be sharing close ups of these cards later this week!) Also displayed is my next Girls Night Out coming up August 23rd.  We will be doing the Fabric Necklace Kit and a ring!  I had several of the Base & Blink pieces displayed.

Here is my Cardmaking WOTG kits and the new Artbooking Cricut Collection display.

Twice a year I gather up all the cards that I have created and package them with a envelope to sell at my Open House.  Since I create so many card for my blog I found that I had quite a few - more than I would every send out.  So I decided to sell them!  But I do not keep the money.  All of the money from the sale of my cards is donated to Operation Smile.   My goal each year is to raise enough money to pay for one operation through the sale of my cards.   One operation costs $240.  I am very happy to report that yesterday I raised $112 at my open house for the cards I sold!   Added to that, I held a silent auction on a Halloween Banner I had created for Extravanganza the year I taught.  The banner brought $20!   So I have a total of $132 to send to Operation Smile!

Door Prizes are a fun part of the day!  I give away tickets to my customers for door prizes.  They have a variety of ways to earn the tickets.  First, they get a ticket if they RSVP that they are coming. (that's easy!).  One more ticket if they brought a friend! Then they got tickets for every $10 they purchased, 3 tickets for booking a Gathering or Book party, 1 ticket for every Operation Smile Card they purchased, 2 tickets for signing up for my Girls Night Out Workshop.  Oh yes!  And one ticket for each correct answer on their scavenger hunt!   Here are the prizes they tried for:

Sticky Goodness - Bonding Memories Glue and Liquid Glass
CTMH Tumbler filled with Kisses and a M-size stamp
Stitched With Love Stampset
Chocolate Platter - Dessert Plate filled with Chocolate Cardstock,
Chocolate Ink Pad, Chalk Distressing Ink, Chocolate Mini Medleys and
Of course, all this shopping can make a person hungry so I had a table full of chocolate goodies!

And of course - a little Chocolate Bar for the road!

Thanks to all who came out!  I had fun and hope you did too!

If you missed it, you can still take advantage of my Mystery Hostess Party!  It's open until Saturday, August 17th.    Join my Mystery Hostess Party on my website and for every $25 you spend, you will be entered into my Mystery Hostess drawing!  So far I'm going to have 4 winners that will receive $20 in FREE Close To My Heart Products!
