A Flowering Bunch - June Stamp of the Month

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring A Flowering Bunch a set of 10 stamps.  Four of these stamps coordinate with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge!  If you have come here from Helen's Blog you are on the right path!  The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around.   If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE

We have over 60 consultants participating in the hop. Following the hop is easy, just click on the link at the end of the post and it will hop you right over to the next blog!

I created two cards with this set.

Card Size - 8 x 3 1/2
For my first card, I stamped the flowers, stem and leaves with Outdoor Denim ink.  Then I used our Alcohol Markers to color!
I used Sorbet for the flowers and Olive for the stem and leaves.

I wrapped Outdoor Denim Baker's Twine around the card and tied it in a nice little bow.

Card Size - 5 x 4 1/2
My second card was really simple. Again, I used Outdoor Denim ink to stamp the bunch of flowers and the sentiment.
I used various colors of  Close To My Heart's Alcohol markers to color my flowers.

The sorbet ribbon is from my stash of retired ribbons.  I thought it matched perfectly.   I added some clear sparkles for a little bit of bling!  Because the alcohol markers bleed through, I used a slightly smaller size piece of White Daisy cardstock to color on and adhered it to front of my card base.

Remember! A Flowering Bunch stamp of the month is available ONLY during the month of June!  You can purchase it for just $5 when you purchase $50 in Close To My Heart products!

Summer Vacation is Here!

School is out so I thought I would create a fun card that reminds me of the beach.  Somewhere I long to go but not sure when I'll get there.

The colors in my card were inspired by the colors from this week's Color Throwdown.  I used Close To My Hearts colors of Honey, Sky, Cotton Candy and Slate.  (Boy - don't those color names just make you THINK summer?!)  My card design is from Freshly Made Sketches #88.  The stamp set used is Tropical Paradise (C1531).  I just love those surf boards!

I used cardstock from the Dream Pop Paper Pack.  This is last week that you can get the Dream Pop paper pack and I think there is still a smidgen left in inventory so you'd better hurry!   I've had so much fun this past month creating with this paper pack!  I hope you've enjoyed my creations!  You can always find more inspiration on my Pinterest Dream Pop Board.  I've collected great works all art from many other consultants so be sure to check it out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Be sure to come back on June 1st for our monthly Stamp of Month Blog Hop!  I can't wait to show you what I created with the June Stamp of the Month!

You Are a Ray of Sunshine

I did manage to get in a quick card for a challenge today.   I used the sketch from Retro Sketches #65 and a stamp set that I've had for a while but hadn't used yet.

I stamped a 4 x 3 1/2 piece of White Daisy Cardstock with the pennant stamps from Patterned Pennents (D1534).   I loved this stamp and couldn't wait to order it but once I did, I just couldn't seem to get around to using it!  So I was excited to use it today.  I used Sunset, Buttercup and Cotton Candy inks.   I stamped the first pennant with the left edge of the stamp at the center of my piece of cardstock which made it easier to stamp the other pennants.   Next I cut off the bottom at 1".  I cut another 1" and discarded that piece leaving the top to measure 3".

My accents are retired mini medley medallions with Pink Glitter Gems in the center (X1807).  As you can see, I'm still using cardstock from the Dream Pop paper pack!  This pack will only be available through Friday or While Supplies Last!

Later Sk8r not just a BOY paper!

I know that the first thing that comes to mind for most people when they see Close To My Heart's Later Sk8r paper is "A great paper for boys!".   For me, having no boys to scrapbook and needing to create the Workshop On The Go layouts for my clubs, I originally planned to use the layouts for my daughter's softball pictures.   I think that paper would be perfect for ANY sports!

My oldest daughter ran in the Color Run marathon earlier this year and when she and her friend sent me pictures on my phone from that day I knew then what would be going on these pages!  I thought it was perfect!  I wanted to share them here.

This is the featured layout from the Later Sk8r Workshop On the Go (G1057) kit.  The kit comes with an exclusive Later Sk8r (c-size) stamp set, Blue and Green Epoxy bubbles, Later Sk8r assortments and a full color step by step instruction guide!   Inks needed to complete the layout were Pear, Outdoor Denim, Slate and Lagoon.

Once I completed the feature layout, I had enough left over to create the alternate layout.  Instructions for the Alternate Layout can be found on my website under the Ideas & Inspiration tab > Workshops On The Go.

I really came to love this paper and have created several cards too!  Get your Later Sk8r WOTG kit today!  www.stampinheaven.ctmh.com

A Dream Pop Birthday Card

Here is a quick card I made with the Dream Pop paper using the Freshly Made Sketch #87.

One reason this card was so easy is because I used this piece from the Dream Pop paper pack:
The strip down the side of the paper gave me exactly what I needed!  The other portion of the paper provides a nice background for the card.

I just love the Honey and Slate colors together.   I stamped a flower from Girls Rock stamp set onto  coordinating flowers I cut from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge.   I added slate buttons and Creme Brulee Bakers Twine.

Recipe for 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Card:
Dream Pop Paper
Girls Rock (C1538)
Joyful Birthday (B1419)
Mini Medley's Accents Slate Collection (Z1787)
Baker's Twine Paradise Assortment (Z1702)

Graduation FINALLY came!

My blog has been quiet for about a week but my craft room has not!  I've been working on things for my youngest daughter's high school graduation party!  I took two days off from work to try to get things ready.

I ordered the announcements but created the party invites!
Stamps used: Congrats Graduate (A1139) and Sightseer (C1534) for the chevrons

Get ready, this may be a lengthy post!  I've got lots to share!

The commencement exercise was held at Middle Tennessee University's Murphy Center.  The Oakland High School Class of 2013 consisted of 406 graduates.

After the graduation, we headed out to Slayden Farms to celebrate.  For the last three weeks we've had rain (LOTS of rain) every single weekend.  The beginning of the week had a great graduation forecast but as each day got closer to Saturday the percentage of rain increased.  When I checked the forecast Saturday morning, it was grim - cloudy all day with 60% chance of THUNDERSTORMS from 4pm on.  It wasn't looking good for an outdoor party.  As I drove out to the farm that morning to take food, decorations and tables, I said a quick prayer thanking God for this day of celebration no matter what the weather.  I would deal with whatever He gave us and I would do it joyfully!  After graduation, we came out of Murphy Center to cloudy skies and I rushed out to the farm to finish prepping for the party.  The clouds broke and the sun started to shine.  The sun got so hot we actually had to move our 'Graduation' tent to a more shady spot so that the cake wouldn't melt!

My hubby cooked ribs and chicken!  Yum!!  We had so much food!

And for dessert......
Dessert table is ready - except chocolate covered strawberries are missing!

My dear friend Leslie Kemp made the graduation cake and cupcakes.  Kayli LOVES chevrons so a chevron cake was a must have!  I got the idea for the pennants from Pinterest.   I used two paper straws for the poles and used my Pennant Alphabet (E1018) stamps and Cotton Candy ink to stamp the pennants.  Here is a closer look at the cake:

My mom put together a collage of Kayli's growing up years in a large poster frame.  I pulled together some favorite layout memories in a scrapbook.  I think everyone had fun looking at the pictures.

I created this framed piece of 'chalk art'.  I have seen this technique many times and love the look. This was my first attempt.  I loved creating it but it takes alot of patience!  (I tend to want to hurry things up therefore usually creating a mess and making a mess of my creation!). But I stayed slow and steady this time.

I purchased a $3 black wood frame at Walmart and sprayed painted it white.  After it dried, I rubbed sandpaper over the frame edges to bring out the black to give it a vintage look.  Next, I stamped the phrase with The Works Alpha stamp (now retired) with versa mark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  Once it was heat set, I used white pigment ink to stamp each letter again offsetting it just a bit.  "Believe" and "Dreams" was stamped with Friendship Alpha - Large (retired) and Hollyhock pigment ink.  This time I used Clear Embossing powder.   The swirls and stars are from one of my all time favorite stamps - Love Life (D1482).  For the final touch, I added paper roses I cut with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge along with Black Tulle Ribbon (Z1798).

It turned out to be a great afternoon and evening!

As we were driving back home that night I was thinking about what a wonderful day we had.  And then I realized I was driving on wet roads with big puddles!  It had rained!  But it never rained on the farm.  Wow..... He is amazing.  I then said a word of thanks for ALL the blessings large and small in my life.

Thank you for spending a few moments with me celebrating Kayli's graduation.
Now, I'll get back to regular creating and posting as I just might have a little more free time!

Congrats Grad!

My daughter graduated from High School on Saturday and of course, I needed to make her a card!  I saw this card on Case Study and wanted to do something similar with my Congrats Graduate (A1139) stamp set.

Her school colors are Red, White & Blue but Kayli didn't want her graduation announcements to be school colors!  She wanted PINK!  Once we stepped away from the traditional school colors for her announcements, I decided we might as well go PINK for her party too!  (Read all about her party HERE) So, when I created this card I used Pink and Black ink.

I layered the card onto a piece raspberry Dream Pop cardstock. (I LOVE this paper pack!)

Inside, I used a sentiment from a special stampset that convention attendees received at the 2010 Close To My Heart convention in Disneyland in California.   I thought it was perfect!

We are nearly to end of May already!  WOW..... so do you know what that means?  There is just a little over a week left to get the special Dream Pop paper pack!  Spend $35 in current Close To My Heart products and you get the Dream Pop paper pack for just $10!  I can't get enough of this paper so I've ordered more than just one!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!
Here in Middle Tennessee it has been a beautiful day!  Today my girls are doing one of my most dreaded chores for me..... going to the Grocery!  The past week has been very busy and I never had a chance to go.  Yesterday we drove to Kentucky to spend the day with my hubby's mother so Saturday grocery shopping was out.  That left today - and what Mother wants to go to the grocery on Mother's Day?!!  Certainly not me!   So, I gave them a list and sent them on their way.  awww... so nice.

I've still got to run by and see my mom. They've been gone this weekend visiting my grandma so that gave me an extra day to work on a card for my Mother.  My mom spends many hours working in her back yard and it is beautiful! So any card I usually create for my mom HAS to have flowers on it!

Here is a picture of my mom and my sisters in her backyard.

Here is the card I created

For this card I cut a large tag with the out of the Dream Pop cardstock with a 'lattice' resist design on it.  Then I pulled out one of my past favorite Stamps of the Month from May 2012 - Friendship Bouquet (no longer available).  I stamped the flowers with Slate pigment ink and then used Clear Detail Embossing to emboss.  The flowers are colored with Honey and Buttercup inks using a blending pen technique.   The center of the flowers are filled Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel.  Close To My Heart's bronze glitter paper makes an easy cut for my "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment with my Artiste Cricut Cartridge.  I layered the flowers, sentiment and ribbon on top of a White Daisy image also cut with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge.

Recipe - 5x7 Card
Mint Dream Pop cardstock tag - Artiste Cricut Cartridge (Bdaygirl<card> 5")
White Daisy rectangle shape - Artiste Cricut Cartridge (k<card>3")
Friendship Bouquet - May 2012 Stamp of the Month (no longer available)
Dark Chocolate Striped Grosgrain Ribbon - Z1617
Mocha Opaque Adhesive Gems - Z1333
Bronze Glitz Glitter Gel - Z1483
"Happy Mother's Day" - Brown and Tan Glitter Paper - Z1830 and Artiste Cricut Cartridge 1 3/4"
Blending Pen - 3174
Honey Ink - Z2162
Buttercup Ink - Z1271

I'm going to enter this card into two challenges -
Cut It Up Challenge #18 - Mother's Card

Dream Pop Mother's Day Card

After a really busy week I managed to squeeze a tiny bit of creative time.  Next week will be busy too as I get ready for my daughter's graduation party next Saturday.  I've got so much to do!  Last night I had about an hour of ME time so I created this Mother's Day card using our special Dream Pop paper and the Mojo Monday sketch.

I absolutely adore this Dream Pop paper!  It's only available during the month of May for just $10 with a $35 purchase of current Close To My Heart products.  We have so many accessories that look great with this paper.   Here, I used the Slate Polka Dot Washi tape (Z1817),  a resin flower pin from the Slate Mini-Medley Accents (Z1787), Silver Glitter Paper from the Black and Grey Glitter Paper (Z1829) and Baker's Twine - Sunset from the Paradise Assortment (Z1702) and Grey Wool from the Neutral Assortment (Z1701).   I used Close To My Heart's Silver Metallic Marker (Z1768) to create 'stitching' around the outside edge of the card.   The stamped sentiment is from the set Perfect Fit - Mom (C1543).

Here is the Mojo Monday Sketch I used:

REMEMBER!!
This Dream Pop Paper is a National Scrapbooking Month Special so you can only get it during the Month of May (or While Supplies Last!)   It's just $10 when  you purchase $35 in current Close To My Heart Products.  It has 12 sheets of cardstock and 12 sheets of fabulous printed paper!
