Scandinavian Wishes - October Stamp of the Month

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring Scandinavian Wishes, a set of 12 stamps.  FOUR of these stamps coordinate with the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge! If you have come here from Beth's Naumann's Blog you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE.

We have over 50 consultants participating in the blog.  Following the hop is easy- just click on the link at the bottom of each post and it will take you to the next blog!

I've got lots of projects to share with this set!  Once I began working with the stampset, more and more ideas came to me!  Not only did I use the Art Philosophy (Z1686) cricut cartridge with the coordinating images, I also used the Artiste Cartridge (Z1790) to create my gift boxes!  Check out my collection below and then I will share an individual picture of each with the recipe.   If you don't want to see the individual pics and recipes you can hop on over to Judy Burger's blog.   I will post the link again at the end if you want to continue to see my projects.

First up.... gift boxes!  I love the different types of gift boxes that you can make with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge!   For each box, I created a gift tag using the Art Philosopy Cricut Cartridge.  I used the To:/From: stamp with Twilight ink on the outside masking the "To:" and "From:" to give a nice border that matches the shape of the gift tag. I stamped one of the words in the center with Ruby ink.  Then I stamped the To:/From: stamp again inside the tag.

Red Shimmer Trim - (Z1848)
Twilight Ink (Z2160)
Ruby Ink (Z2170)
Champagne Ink (Z2174)

And Last but not least a simple ornament!  This was so easy to create!  I cut the ornament image 5 times onto Champagne cardstock.  I stamped each one with Twilight ink then added Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel (Z1313). After the glitter gel had dried I creased and then folded each ornament down the center.  I glued each ornament together.  I strung a piece of hemp through the hold at the top of the ornament and tied a ribbon around the top.  These were so easy!  I may have to make a few more to add them to my StampinHeaven Christmas tree!

I hope you have enjoyed looking at my projects!  Remember, Scandinavian Wishes is only available from October 1 to October 31.   You can get this stamp for just $5 with a $50 Close To My Heart purchase!  Contact your consultant today! Life Without Friendship

It's been a beautiful day sunny day today and I just returned from having lunch with one of my best friends.  I didn't have any deadlines to get back to so we sat outside on the restaurant's patio and had the best time catching up.  We haven't had time in several weeks to get together so it was nice.  We discussed kids, families, work (ugh) and then our favorite past time - creating!!  I was feeling kind of crabby this morning so this was the best medicine for a pick-me-up.   Friends are great - they can always bring a smile and a little more sunshine to your day.

After lunch I was excited to have a few free hours to myself this afternoon and couldn't WAIT to get home to create.  I printed off a bunch of challenges that I wanted to participate in and sat down at my scrap table to really crank something out.  And I sat..... and I sat..... I started out intending to create a card for one challenge and I began to go through my stamps looking for just the right one.  I pulled out about three stamps.   Then I sat some more.... and I sat...... hmm.......  not feeling this at all.   I kept going back to one stamp (a new one that I've never used before) but it didn't really fit the sketch I was going to use.  I threw aside the sketch and just began creating something on my own using the colors from this week's Color Throwdown Challenge.

I think this card is a reflection of my day.... Mandy sure brought the sunshine today and I thank God that I'm so blessed to have friends like her in my life!

The quilt stamp is from Stitch Wonder (C1564).   This great little set has 5 different stitches on it plus 2 quilt squares and a sentiment.   I stamped my stitching in Pacifica using the masking technique.   First I inked only the stitches using the edge of my ink pad and stamped it onto the card.  Next, I stamped the quilt square onto a sticky note and cut out the center.  Using the piece with the stitching on it, I then stamped the stars and hearts in the cut out area using Pear, Sky and Buttercup inks.

The sentiment on the card is from You Are My Happy.  This is an exclusive set of THREE D-size stamps available ONLY until September 30 for a special price of $10 when you place a $50 purchase.

Using Ready Made Embellishments

A few weeks ago I shared how easy it was to use leftover stickease to create beautiful cards really quick. If you missed that post, you can see those cards HERE.  When I create a layout with stickease or complements I always have just a few left over.  There is no better way to use them up than with a card!  Today I'm sharing a card that I created using my leftover Laughing Lola Compliments dimensional elements.  This card came together very quickly.  The only stamping is the sentiment which is from our exclusive "You Are My Happy" stamp set.  The Chevron arrow was 12" long and I cut is down to fit the card.   Then I layered my DE flowers for a nice effect.   I just LOVE this paper and the matching Compliments are a perfect touch.

Good Things Come......

National Stamping Month will wrap up in just 8 more days so that mean you have just about a week to get our fabulous "You Are My Happy" stamp set.    I created this simple card using one of the sentiments and flowers from the set.  The inspiration for my design came from Clean and Simple Stamping and the colors were inspired by the photo from Just Us Girls Challenge.

I used Close To My Heart's Colors of Cocoa, Desert Sand, Colonial White and Ruby.

Fall is in the air!

I needed a door prize for my Girl's Night Out Event last night so I grabbed one of my little Petite Perk stamps, A Touche of Fall, and created a card.  I wanted to give away the card along with the stamp so that the winner would have a little inspiration for creating something with their new stamp. With the help of Close to My Heart's Make It From Your Heart Vol 2 sketch book I was able to create this card in just 30 minutes!  I recommend ALL of our How To books for anyone that loves sketches for inspiration!

Our Petite Perks can't be purchased.  These are special little stamps available to consultants.  As I told the girl's last night - "You have to know ME to get this cute little set!"  I usually give these away at events or parties.

Here is my card that the winner got along with a brand new Petite Perk.

4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Colonial White Card Value Pack (X1410)

A Few of My Favorite Things.....

Do you have a favorite collection?  My little obsession - collection started out with one little church. It was a church from Hallmark's Nostalgic Shops and Homes.  I decided I wanted to collect churches so I bought a bigger church.. The kind that you take the roof off and put a candle in to light it up.   The next year, my Mother In Law gave me a few pieces of Colonial Village - a church and a home. Now I wanted to build a village!  My collection grew to additional Colonial Village pieces and then on to Dicken's Village. It became an elaborate set up every year that took an entire day to unpack and set up. In all of those years of collecting, I still made sure to get the new Nostalgic Shop and Houses yearly addition.

I hate to say it, but since my girls have grown up and don't really get into helping me decorate anymore, I haven't pulled all those boxes of houses, churches, shops and accessories down from the closet.  I miss it, but it had become such a chore and then an even bigger chore to put away!  All the boxes are numbered so that they will fit back into the closet like a puzzle.  I do keep my Hallmark collection out year round though.  They sit lined up across an antiqued mirror that has shelves.

Something about these little shops and homes always fascinated me.  When Close To My Heart's Autumn Winter Idea Book came out and I spotted the new Christmas Village (D1554) stamp and I had to have it.  I pondered what to do with this set for a while but tonight I was inspired by two challenges to pull it out and create something with it.

I had fun coloring the little shops and church with my alcohol ink markers. I stamped two of the buildings on a separate piece of cardstock and cut them out after coloring them.  I adhered them to the card with glue dots.  It gives a little bit of added dimension which doesn't show up in the picture.  I used the dark green glitter paper from the Green Glitter Paper (Z1847) and Red Shimmer Trim (Z1848) to border my village.  I added Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel (Z1313) for the snow topped roofs. "Merry Christmas" is from the Holiday Tags (D1560) stamp set.

This close up picture shows the liquid glass I used on the windows to give them a shiny effect.

Come Unto Me.....

I had a pretty productive day beginning about 7:30 this morning.  Saturday is my day to sleep in since I get up at 5am during the week to get ready for work.  But this morning I woke up about 6:30 and couldn't get back to sleep so I finally gave up and got up.  I went into the kitchen to fix myself some breakfast but got side tracked by my 'tupperware cabinet'.  You know the cabinet.  It's the biggest cabinet in your kitchen that is full of every size and shape of plastic ware - containers, bowls and lids!  My cabinet had gotten to the shape where you quickly open the door - throw something in and close the door before something else falls out.   I opened the cabinet and sat down and begin taking everything out.  I was determined to keep only the items that had a lid, and get rid of anything that I no longer used.   I probably threw away about 40 lids!  I guess I had this fear that a container would show up looking for it's matching lid so I saved the lid just in case.  If it wouldn't stack - I got rid of it!

Of course, after the cleaning and purging of the 'tupperware cabinet', I then proceeded to the utensil drawer, the silverware drawer and finally the drawer that holds the foil, plastic wrap and baggies. The 'miscellaneous' drawer will have to wait for another day.

Next on my list was to work on projects for the October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.  Since I can't share those projects yet, I wanted to create something I could share.  So I looked to this week's challenges for some inspiration.

This is a pretty simple card using the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch, colors from Color Throwdown and a condolence theme for Friday Mashup.

Juniper Cardstock

Expanding Your Layout for More Photos - Using Flip Flaps

Have you discovered the wonderful world of flip flaps?  Flip Flaps are great for extending your pages with even more photos for an event.  Adding flip flaps to your pages are easy.  It just takes a little thought to make sure you continue the flow of design and color.

The Memory Protector Flip Flaps (Z1325) come in an assortment of 8 flip flaps.  You get four 6x12; two 4x8 and two 8x12 flip flaps.  Each Flip Flap has a strong adhesive attachment strip to attach to your page protector.

The Huntington Workshop On The Go Kit offers a great opportunity to add flip flaps.  First, I created the featured layout from the instruction brochure.
Feature layout as shown in Instruction Brochure
Next I created the Alternate Layout shown on the back of the Instruction Brochure.  Cutting directions and How to Steps for this layout can be found on my website under Ideas & Inspirations > Workshops On The Go.   Since the layout has a top border of 4" and the bottom portion of the layout is 8", this is very compatible with our flip flaps.

Before adding my final embellishments to this layout, I flipped it over and added a 4" top border to the other side of the pages. After adding the top border and before completing the entire layout on the back of my Alternate Layout,  I cut the pages 4x8.  Because the bottom flip flaps fold down when you open it, I wanted to make sure my layout flowed correctly and not be upside down!  Also, it makes it easier to design the flow by placing my feature layout on the table above the lower section I was working on.

You can see that I continued the flow of the page to top by using the top half of the Huntington Assortment that I had cut in half for the Feature layout.   The very top strip of the top border is from the Huntington Stickease border that I cut in half to use on both side of the layout.

The bottom portion of the flip flaps has places for two additional 6x4 photographs.  By using the Barn Red design printed paper, I felt that it didn't take away too much from the feature layout in the middle.  I used more stickease on the lower portion of the pages.

Attaching the flip flaps are easy.  Before adding the pages to flip flaps, fold the strip down so that the adhesive will be on the outside. Remove the adhesive strip and line up the side edges with the page protector of the Feature Layout.  I did have the Feature Layout inside my page protector. There is a fine line across the width of the flip flap.  I used this line to match up to the edge of the layout in my page protectors.

Items used for these layouts:
Huntington Workshop On The Go (G1069)
Huntington Stickease (X7174C)
Memory Protector Flip Flaps Assortment (Z1325)
