Special Care - November Stamp of the Month

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring Special Care, a set of 6 stamps. This set has 3 images that also coordinate with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge! If you have come here from Krista Ritskes' Blog you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE.

We have over 50 consultants participating in the blog. Following the hop is easy- just click on the link at the bottom of each post and it will take you to the next blog!

If you have been joining me each month in these blog hops, you know I usually showcase the stamps with cards. When it came time to create something with the Special Care set, all I could think of was 'layout'. I don't have have babies or small children anymore! But I really wanted to create a layout and I really wanted to use my Babycakes paper! I love the Babycakes paper and have been using it for everything BUT BABY!

So I pulled out the paper and pulled out the stamp and I got to work creating a layout. Maybe when I have time, I will dig out some baby photos and put baby pictures on it!

For my layout I used a pattern from the new Make It From Your Heart Vol 2 book. This is Pattern #10.

I used my Artbooking cricut cartridge to add an overlay to my layout. I used the 1/2 page overlay - Overlay Shift <G>. I set the dial size to 11" so the actual size was cut to fit the layout at 5 x 11. I cut the overlay down to 3" to fit right on top of the White Daisy cardstock on the left page. Then I used some of the leftover on the right side.

For this stamp, I stamped it twice - first in Slate ink and then in Lagoon. I cut out the "TREAT" from the Lagoon stamped image and adhered right over the same word of the Slate image to make it pop.

A Holly Jolly Christmas

Here is a card that I started yesterday morning and didn't finish until last night.   I found a sketch over at Unscripted Sketches that I wanted to use along with an inspiration photo from Inspired By to combine into one card.   I really struggled with this card and it actually morphed into the finished product after some trial and errors.   I couldn't believe I was struggling with what I thought would be an easy sketch!

Here is my finished product

To create this card, I cut 1" strips of Juniper, Sweet Leaf and Smoothie cardstock.  I adhered them to the card at an angle leaving a very small space of white in between each strip and overlapping the edges.  Once all the strips were attached, I trimmed them even to the card front.  I wanted to add shimmer to the card so I filled in each gap between the strips with Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel.  (I absolutely LOVE this stuff and it's retiring January 31! So you might want to grab some before it's gone!)

Next, I added the sentiment which is from the stamp set that is exclusive to the Frosted WOTG Cardmaking Kit.  I still thought the card was sort of plain so I grabbed the snowflake stamp from the same stamp set and stamped some tone on tone snowflakes on each strip.
I struggled with what I should use for the 3 circles in the sketch and finally decided I need silvery snowflakes.  I pulled out my Artiste Cricut Cartridge and cut three 1 1/4" snowflakes using the Shift- Accent 1-<Noel> key.  Finally, I was happy with the way my card turned out.

Here are the challenges that were my inspiration for this card:

Black Friday thru Cyber Monday Special!

I really hate crowds.....crowds of grouchy weary shoppers that is.   I don't like crowded parking lots where people lurk to find a close spot because they don't want to walk a little bit.  I don't like people pushing and shoving and to get a good deal.    I've always stayed home during the Thanksgiving Holiday.  I will do everything I can to avoid even running to the grocery store down the street!

I will eventually venture out in the next week after the rush is over.  If I could, I would do all my Christmas Shopping on-line!  If you are like me, then you will love my special offer - A FREE Stamp with your order!   We all love FREE!  Who doesn't?!

In honor of all those shoppers who want to stay IN on Black Friday, I have a special offer available ONLY through me when you shop on my website Black Friday through Cyber Monday!

So what is the deal?   Here is the Deal! -

Another November Birthday Card!

I've had several Birthday cards to make this month.   November is filled with Birthday's for me so in the middle of my Christmas card creations I need to stop every so often and create a birthday card.   So, birthday card #3 in the month of November goes to my dear hubby!   It's simple yet sort of rugged with no frills which reminds me of my husband!

I used the sketch from Clean & Simple stamping for my pattern and the inspiration photo from The Inspired Challenges.  I sanded the Outdoor Denim cardstock to resemble the faded jeans in the photo.  The pattern piece of paper is from the Tommy paper pack.

Recipe - 5 x 7 card
White Daisy Cardstock (1385)
Outdoor Denim Cardstock (1275)
Tommy Paper pack (X7169B) *
Woodgrain Washi from Party Washi 3 pack (Z1908)**
Cork Color Ready Alphabet (retired)
Keyboard Kraft Alphabet (Z1825)
Natural Hemp (Z280) *

*These items will retire at January 31, 2014.  Go to RETIRING ITEMS to see ALL the products that will retire at January 31, 2014.  Get your favorites before they are gone!

**Available until December 31, 2013!

A Holiday Kraft Container

Here is another quick Christmas gift idea!  I love Close To My Heart's My Creations Kraft Containers.  These containers come ready for you decorate!  Just add paper and embellishments.  You can even stamp on them.   They are perfect size for small gifts for a teacher, friend, or neighbor!  I think I may fill mine with cookies!

I used the Sparkle & Shine (X7176B) paper and added the Sparkle & Shine Compliments (Z1860) for an easy finishing touch!  I stamped "Happy Holidays" Ruby ink using the stamp from the Perfect Fit - Holidays set (B1412).  I created this container in just minutes on a lunch break one day. Not kidding!  I was working about 5 minutes from home. So at lunch I ran home (well - actually I drove) washed a sink full of dishes (my family thinks if ONE dish is in the sink then the dishwasher MUST be full!), made me a sandwich and ate it and then created this container. I was back to work in less than an hour!  I LOVE simple & quick things!

I'm entering this into the 4 Crafty Chicks Anything Goes Challenge.

Why it's Great to be 19

Today is my daughter's birthday.   She told me the other that day that there just wasn't anything good about 19.   I asked her what she meant by that.   She said "19" is boring.   There is just nothing exciting about being 19.   She said when you turn 13 you are finally a "teen".  When you turn 16 that's exciting because now you get to drive.   When you turn 18, you are legally an adult.  When you turn 21, you are of legal age.  But when you turn 19, what is exciting about that?

So in honor of Kayli's 19th Birthday, I'm going to give her a list of 10 reasons why it is great to be 19!

1. This is your last year to be considered a "TEENAGER".
2.  It is socially acceptable to still be living at home.
3. If you flipped the number "19" around, you'd be "61".  'nuff said about that.
4. You still have 6 more years to go before being kicked off your parents Insurance.
5.  You survived High School.
6.  You are still young enough to be carefree.
7.  People still care how old you are and want to throw you a party.  After you turn 21, no one will care until you hit the big 30 and every decade after that.
8.  Little kids still think you are cool.
9.  You can wear leggings, ball cap and no make up and still look good.
10. You are one year closer to thinking that your mother is the smartest person on the planet.

Recipe for this 5 x 7 Card
White Daisy Cardstock (1385)
Black Cardstock (1386)
Sky Cardstock (X5761)
Background Stamp - In the Background (D1540)
Sentiment - Joyful Birthday (B1419)

Buttons (retired)
Sky Ink (Z2194)
Black Ink (Z2105)
Tag - Cut from Art Philosolphy Cricut Cartridge (Z1686)

Peace and Joy

I didn't do anything creative yesterday.  Instead I went shopping.  Gasp! I really don't like shopping much anymore.  I left the house at 8:30am to get to one of my favorite stores that was having a sale - and if you got there before 10 am you got a $10 gift card.  I needed a few new clothes - mine seem to have all shrunk.  So I hit the sale and then I met up with a friend to do more shopping at the annual Hollydays Market Place.  It was fun but by 2:00 we were shopped out (we are pathetic shoppers). So I headed home to take a much needed nap.  I was so worn out and my feet were aching I couldn't even get myself to my scrap room to do anything.

This afternoon, I did make it to my scrap room armed with a bunch of challenges I wanted to give a shot at.  I was really inspired by the photo on the Inspired By Challenge and decided to combine it with the Deconstructed Sketch.   The stamp set I used is sold exclusively with the Frosted Cardmaking Workshop on the Go Kit.  This stamp is definitely one I'll be using over and over.

Create a Pocket Album to Keep Your Photo Christmas Cards!

I purchased the My Creations Kraft Pocket Album a few months back not knowing what I would do with it but figured I would think of something!  A few weeks ago, I came across a stack of photo cards that I had bound together with a shiny gold ribbon.   I untied the ribbon to look at the cards.  I had saved every photo card that I had gotten over the last several years.  I never could throw away a photo card!  It just seemed odd to throw someone's carefully planned annual photo in the trash!  So I had kept every last one of them.   It was fun to look through the years to see how much my friends children had grown!  This is when my idea hit me!  I would use the pocket album to store these cards!  A pocket for each family!  There are 18 total pockets in this little album.  Perfect!

So I set to work trying to decide how to decorate the front of the album and then I came across Close To My Heart's Video sharing the Pocket Album they created.  My pocket album is inspired by their video which I have shared at the end of the post.

I still need to add family names to each page but at least I've got the front cover done and pictures inside!  Some of the photo cards are taller than the book but I figured that was ok... It just adds interests and intrigues people to take a look inside!

All Wrapped Up in Washi

Pillow Boxes are a cute and VERY EASY way to give a Christmas gift this year!  Close to My Heart's My Creations Pillow Boxes are clear and measure 6" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2".  You get 3 pillow boxes for just $2.95.  The perfect size for hiding a gift card, jewelry, or other small gifts.  They are even food-safe!  So fill it up with homemade goodies!   I decorated my pillow boxes in just a snap with Washi tape.

Christmas Tree Washi Pillow Box

This one was really easy.   I used the Party Washi Tape and Sparkle & Shine Washi Tape 3 packs. The Party Washi 3-pack comes with a wood grain washi design which I used for my tree.  I used the honey washi in this same pack to cover my dimensional element star.  The juniper and ruby washi tapes from the Sparkle and Shine 3-pack make up my tree. Then I added some bling for ornaments.  My final touch was to add a tag I created using the Perfect Fit-Christmas stamp set.

Santa Pillow Box

For this Santa pillow box, I just wrapped the silver and ruby washi tape around the box.   Can't get any simplier that that!   My bow was created using the Artiste Cricut Cartridge.   I stamped Santa from the Santa Claus stamp set, cut him out and tied him on!   Voila!  Two quick gifts!

Merry Christmas Background Card

I combined challenges to make this card today using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the Technique Challenge from Just Us Girls.

I think it is quite a busy card myself but I still kind of like it.   I used Ruby and Topiary Inks for Merry Christmas.   The stamp is from Holiday Tags which also includes 4 frames - one I used here. The frames in this stamp set all coordinate with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge.

Green Glitter Paper - Z1847
Holiday Tags - D1560
Ruby Chevron Ribbon - Z1846
Ruby Ink - Z2170
Topiary Ink - Z2155
