January Stamp of the Month - This Moment

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring This Moment, a set of 12 fun stamps. If you have come here from Teresa Scriven's Blog you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE.

I created a card for my next Technique Tuesday class using this set using one of our new embossing the folders - Heart (Z3018) and a fun technqiue called Inked Embossing.

I felt like my card had too much 'white space' even with the inked embossed hearts so I stamped a black arrow in between the embossed hearts.  Another technique I used on this card is the masking technique.  I tried stamping the sentiment on top of the multiple circles but I didn't like the way it looked.  That is where the masking came in.   I used the technique on the sentiment so that the lines of the circle stops at the sentiment.

If you are local to me, and want to come and make this card, be sure to check out the class details on my Upcoming Events tab and email me to reserve your spot!

Remember!  You can get this stamp during the month of January for just $5 with a $50 purchase! Contact your consultant to order your stamp today!  If you don't have a consultant you can order directly from my website at

Now it is time to hop on over to Alyson Mayo's blog and see what she has created!

Hopscotch with Compliments

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!  I can't believe how fast this year went.  My December was so busy I hardly had any time to do anything fun in my scrap room! Well now that Christmas is over and I have a few days off from work, I'm trying to do a little creating.

In February my Hostess Clubs will be creating this layout from the Hopscotch WOTG kit.  The feature layout is so cute and it uses the Artbooking cartridge.  There were only TWO cuts with the paper trimmer for this layout!

With the leftover papers from the kit and the Hopscotch Compliments that I added, I created a second layout.  This layout has no stamping.

If you are interested in joining my Hostess Clubs or starting a club of your own, contact me for more details today!  My new session of clubs will begin in February and run through July.   These are the 2 layouts we will be doing in February.

Crafting on the Go with CTMH's New Rolling Tote

Close To My Heart really hit it out of the park on this one!  I'm so excited about our new rolling tote! This has been a long awaited product by many consultants and customers alike.

There is nothing that wasn't considered when designing this tote for crafters that love to go on retreats and crops.  Check out all of this organization!

This tote is PERFECT for holding those fabulous organizers that we sell!  (Organizers are sold separate).  When you are ready to go to a crop or weekend retreat, all you need to do is drop in your organizers!  The above tote shows one Large Organizer, a Medium Organizer and three Small Organizers.  The Large Organizer is great for storing our stamps but can also store the embossing folders too. The Medium Organizer has removable sections to configure different ways. I use one for storing my ribbon rounds, bakers twine etc. you can also store stamp pads (laid horizontally) picture my life cards, embellishments etc. The small organizers have optional inserts for - one for our blocks, one for our mini pigment inks, one that has holds for 60 sponge daubers and an insert for our craft boxes that are also sold separately. All of these organizers and the inserts and craft boxes are shown on page 186 of Annual Inspirations.

Each zippered side has two mesh pockets.  The one on the bottom is perfect for your Idea books, paper trimmer, score board, Rulers, etc.  The mesh pocket on the top is shorter and great for your glue dots, journaling pens, bonding memories glue pens and more!

Check out the front pocket! - Perfect for your 12x12 paper packs and kits!

And finally, the thing that I just ABSOLUTELY LOVE about this tote is that is collapses when not in use for easy storage!  How awesome is that???

Deal of the Decade and December Stamp of the Month

Wow!!!  Where is December going?  I looked up and it is suddenly 1/2 over?  I'm no where NEAR done with my Christmas shopping!  You might have thought with my blog being a little dormant that I have been busy with decorating and shopping.  But, no.... I have no excuse.  My crafting has taken a little hiatus.  I think I became so overwhelmed with everything going on with day to day that the crafty side of my brain has taken a break.  I have gone and sat in my craft room but haven't really done much and I have a box of new product just waiting to be used!

Even though I don't have any new creations that I have done lately to share I DO have a really cute card that was created by my fellow CTMH consultant and spa girlfriend Kristina Livingstone.   I'm participating in a Stamp of the Month Swap with several gals and Kristina had the Cutie Pie December Stamp of the Month to share.  This card is so cute I just had to share it!

How could you not want this stamp?  Isn't this adorable?   Kristina used liquid glass on the cupcake's blue icing and also on the hearts in the banner.  The picture kind of shows the shine.  (Sorry, I'm not the best photographer.)  I love how she cut a bow from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge. The bright and cheerful colors from the Confetti Wishes paper pack just make me smile every time I look at this card.

Thank you Kristina for letting me share your card!

Just a reminder! During the month of December we are having the Deal of the Decade.  When you spend $50 you can choose any (and as MANY) "C" and "D" size stamps for just $10!  These are stamps that are regularly priced at $13.95 and $17.95!  That is a HUGE savings!  So if you have had a few of these on your wish list, get them now!  Now is the time to stock up!

And while you are at it, you can throw in this Cutie Pie December Stamp of the Month for only $5!

Seasonal Expressions Blog Hop!

Welcome to our Seasonal Expressions Blog Hop!  Today we are featuring artwork created with products from Close To My Heart's new Seasonal Expressions Book.   We have over 30 Consultants participating in this circular hop so when you get back to me, you will know you have visited all of the blogs!  Be sure to leave comments!  We LOVE reading comments.  If you came from Haley Dyer's blog you are on the right track!  If you get lost along the way you can find the entire participating hoppers HERE.

I love the Picture My Life cards because you can do so many different things with them!  And even better - now you can purchase the cards A La Carte' without the protector pages and the cover page. Recently I created a Display Tray and mini book using the For Always PML cards as a wedding gift for my nephew and his new bride.  If you missed seeing the Display Tray, you can see it here.

I couldn't wait to use the new mini book for an additional gift. These spiral My Creations Mini Books come in Black or Kraft. They have a sturdy chipboard cover and include 10 mini page protectors (5 each of 2 designs) that hold either one 4" x 6" or two 3" x 4" Picture My Life™ cards or photos.  I used the black album to go along with the Display Tray.

I designed the cover using PML cards and our Black Glitter Paper.   I used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the flourish and the Artbooking cartridge to cut "Always and Forever".  The accent color in the wedding was a peach color.

I wanted to add a touch of peach so I used 3 silver hearts from our new Stuck On You Puffies and colored them with the ShinHan Touch Twin Light Orange Marker.   This was perfect!

For my cover page inside I used two different PML cards.  The shape in the middle is cut from a different card and layered on top of the base PML card.  I stamped Jeremy and Sarah and the wedding date with the stamp set that comes with the Artfully Sent Cricut Collection.  The little flowers at the top are from the stamp set that is included in the Heartstrings Cardmaking WOTG kit.  I stamped the image first in Black and again in Sorbet.  I cut out and layered the Sorbet flowers.

Here are just a few more pages.  I only added a few pictures because I wanted to Sarah to add her own favorites and journal her special memories from that day.

Picture My Life in a Display Tray

Today I want share a wedding gift that I created for my nephew and his wife.   I wanted to create something very special for them so what better way to give them a remembrance of their big day than something they can display!

I just love it when I get a chance to create with Close To My Heart's Display Trays and when using our Picture My Life Cards, it just doesn't get any better!   I chose to use the For Always Picture My Life Cards for the tray.

I chose to print the pictures in black and white and only use accents of color which were the same colors they had in their wedding.   I was able to keep my nephew's tie the true color by using   It's a free and easy to use photo editing site.  The hardest thing about putting together this tray was choosing WHICH cards to use!  They are all great!  I had so much fun cutting apart cards and putting them with other cards.   Here are few close up shots and what I did:

For the main focus, I chose this beautiful shot of the bride and groom for one of the 4x6 cards. I mounted the card onto a piece of chipboard for more stability in mounting to front of the tray. Since you get 2 of each design of the 4x6 cards, I cut the vine out of the other card and mounted it with foam tape to give this some dimension.  My flower accents are all retired CTMH embellishments that I had been hoarding in my stash.  They turned out to be perfect colors!

For this next picture, I used two different 3 x 4 cards to layer and then used foam tape to pop up the picture even more.  I love the swirling butterfly across the picture.  The paper butterfly was another stash I had but it was a white butterfly.  I used my Light Orange ShinHan Touch Twin marker to add color to the butterfly.  Since it is just a bit bright, I was about to tone it down with the ShinHan Touch Twin Colorless Blender Marker.

I thought this next picture was just adorable and it HAD to be included it in the tray.  My nephew was a baseball player and spent several years in Phillies organization. They met while he was playing ball.  Both Jeremy and Sarah have a strong Christian faith so she had both of these on the bottom of her wedding shoes.  The phrase "This Made Me Smile" was perfect.  I cut it from one of the 3x4 cards and mounted it on top of the picture.

The card beside this picture is made up of two 4x6 cards.  The first card I cut in half to use in together in the two spaces.  "Dream do come true" was on another 4x6 card and I cut out the shape and then cut it in half to put inside the frame of the base card.   You will notice that I used another 4x6 card cut in half in the top section of the tray.

I was very happy with how this turned out and I think they loved it.  The next time you need to give a gift - make it special and use Close To My Heart's Display Tray with Picture My Lift cards!  There are so many to choose from!

Display Tray - Z1750
A La Carte Picture My Life - For Always - Z3065

Always Time for Pie

Thursday is Thanksgiving.  Do you have big plans?  Tradition for my family is go over to my Mother's house.  This year we'll be minus 2 families.  Two of my sisters will be hosting their husband's side of the family for their big Thanksgiving meals.  So, my other sister and I will be taking up the slack and preparing their usual traditional dish for our meal because it just wouldn't be right to have the meal without Sweet Potato Casserole and Corn Pudding! Every year I make the Cornbread Dressing so I'll be making that and also picking up the Sweet Potato Casserole.  I hope mine will be as good as my sister's!

We will also be missing my Grandma and Ed this year.  They will be traveling to Ed's family to celebrate with them.   I created this Thanksgiving card to send to them.   If you follow my blog you know how much I love using Compliments on my cards!  This card uses the Pathfinding Compliments.

No Longer a Teenager

Yesterday my youngest daughter turned 20!  The other night my husband noted that very soon we would no longer have a teenager in the house.  Boy, that felt weird..... after all these years.  Makes me feel just a wee bit old.   But, really I'm enjoying the age both my daughters have become.  Both beautiful young ladies that I really love spending time with.

For my daughter's birthday card I chose to use the special Hostess Only Stamp "Better With a Friend". This is so Kayli.  She loves dogs and actually I think she wanted one for her birthday but we already have a dog in the house that thinks he is human.   We sure don't need another one!

When I started the card, I couldn't decide what colors to use so I went to check out the challenge blogs to see if there was something that would help me out.  I chose the color challenge from the Just Us Girls Challenge blog - Turquoise, Red and Gold.   I used cardstock from our Paper Fundamentals collection fro the background and our new Alcohol markers to color the girl and puppy.  I cut a frame from the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge in our Gold Glitter Paper.

Can you guess which stamp I used?  If not, that is because it is a NEW stamp from our new Seasonal Expressions book that will go live December.  The stamp is "You're the Bomb" and will ONLY be available from December 1 through March 31.  This stamp is extra special because when you purchase this stamp, Close to My Heart will donate $3 to Operation Smile.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm Going to Hawaii!!

I've always wanted to go to Hawaii but I thought this was something that probably would never happen. One time, when we discussed going on vacation we started to look into it but the flights alone told us "Now is not the time".  So I just thought it would never happen.

Every year Close To My Heart has a fabulous trip or cruise to somewhere that consultants can earn. They always announce the next trip at convention.  I used to come home from convention and tell my husband where the next trip was going to be.   After about the 4th year when I told where the trip was, he said "Why do you tell me this? We never go".  So, after that I never told him.  I also never told him how close I was every year to earning the trip - Usually somewhere between two and three thousand dollars.

So, here I was again.... within range but I still felt like it was too far out of reach for me to earn this year's trip to Hawaii.  Close To My Heart had even given us an extra month to earn it because of the delay in release of the Artfully Sent Cricut Collection.   Friday, October 31st was the final day to earn all the points needed.  On the Monday before the 31st, my upline Tina Sutton contacted me and asked "Do you realize how close you are?".   Yes, I knew I was close but I wasn't going to make it.  All my sales had been submitted for October.    Then on Wednesday, Close To My Heart contacted me.  "Do you know you are close to earning this trip?".   Oh wow.... why did everyone think this was possible?   Now I'm thinking... maybe it is!  I contacted Tina Sutton asked, "If you think it is possible to obtain this goal in 3 days - tell me how!".    The next 3 days became a blur of emails, orders, emails and more orders!  With the help of some absolutely wonderful sister consultants, friends and customers I am actually going to get my dream vacation to Hawaii!!  Something that I thought would never happen!

I've said it before and I'll say it again..... this is the most amazing company I've ever worked for!  The sense of family among the consultants just blows me away.   Some consultants that I only know through the Scattered Hearts team placed orders on my website because they wanted to see me go!  I was just amazed and so humbled by the generosity of so many sister consultants.   I just hope that someday I will have a chance to help them like they helped me.

I sent out a plea for help in reaching my goal in a short time to my customers and even some co-workers where I work.  So many people stepped forward to help me out.  It is unbelievable how people reached out to help me.

In my Christmas Card workshop last Saturday, someone asked me - "Well did you earn the trip?". When I said "YES!"  They all started cheering!  It felt so good to have everyone be so happy for me but I told them that THEY were the ones that should be getting the applause because THEY are the biggest reason for getting me there!  So I gave THEM all a big hand!

I love my customers - they are like family!  I love my sister consultants, I LOVE Close To My Heart!

I'll be sending you greetings from Hawaii in February 2015!

Artfully Sent Blog Hop

Welcome to a special Blog Hop presented to you by the Stamp Of the Month Blog Hoppers!  We are excited to be showcasing Close To My Heart's newest cricut cartridge - Artfully Sent.   This cricut cartridge will be especially loved by card makers!  Just like our other cricut collections, this cartridge also has over 700 images, includes 3 stamp sets and a 24 pack of White Daisy Cardstock!

If you came here from Krista Hershberger's blog you are on the right track! At the bottom of my post you will find the link to the next hopper.   If you get lost along the way, you can find a complete list of hoppers HERE.   If you came here first, don't worry!  Just keep following the links on each blog and when you get back to me you are done!   Let's get started!

I made these three cards using the "E" key on this cartridge along with Yuletide Carol B&T paper, Glacier and Desert Sand Cardstock.  This key is great for creating "Thinking of You" cards!   These are the cards that I will be teaching in my new Artfully Sent Cricut Class that is starting in January 2015.   You can find more info about my class on the Artfully Sent tab on my blog.

Let's take a look at each card individually.  First up - front and center - the Pocket Card card.

The Pocket Card key is not only great for creating pocket cards to add to your Picture My Life pages, but they also make easy card fronts!  I used the 3" suggested measurement for this card adding strips of Glazier cardstock and Gold Shimmer trim behind the cut out letters.  I layered this on a Colonial White card from my stash of Bulk Cards and Envelopes.

My next card was fun to create.  I love this cute little bird cage and couldn't wait to cut it out!

These were cut using the 'Scene' key.   I cut out the inside piece on Yuletide Carol B&T paper and again on Glacier cardstock.   I used the bird from the Glacier Cardstock for the inside of my card.  I stamped the sentiment "I'm thinking of you" on the inside of the card placed just right so that you only see it when you open the card!  The stamp is one of many sentiments on the sentiment stamp set which is included in the Artfully Sent Cricut Collection.

And last.... you KNEW there would be a pop up card didn't you?

This is the front of the card.  Again, I used the Pocket key to cut the piece in Desert Sand.  I cut it at 6" but I trimed off 3/4" from each end so that it would fit horizontally on my card.  Can you guess where the printed bird is from?   It's from the inside piece I cut for the birdcage!  Never let ANYTHING go to waste!   Ready for the inside?

I cut the liner in Desert Sand Cardstock.  The little blue bird is a cut out that shows the Glacier cardstock underneath.   I added a strip of Yuletide B&T and Gold Shimmer Trim for accents.

I hope you enjoyed my cards!  If you don't have the Artfully Sent Cricut Collection yet, I'm sure after you have gone through the hop, you will see that you can't live with out it!!
