September Stamp of the Month - Family is Forever

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring Family Is Forever, a set of 7 stamps. If you have come here from Lalia Harris's Blog you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE.

This set would be great for scrapbooking a family page but I decided use this in a 5x7 side-step card!  Perfect for displaying on a desk or office shelf.   I paired it with the Pathfinding paper pack -- great for fall colors!

I used Glacier, Autumn Terracotta, Olive, Goldrush and Chocolate inks for this card.   I masked the "Family is Forever" stamp and stamped it onto two different Art Philosophy cricut shapes for two of my 'steps'.  The big tree occupies the highest step on the card.   I will be teaching this fun card in my September Technique Tuesday class which is already FULL!

Love this stamp?  Contact your Close To My Heart Consultant to get your very own Family is Forever. If you don't have a consultant, you can purchase the stamp from my website: www.stampinheaven.ctmh. Remember, it will ONLY be available during the month of September!  Get it for just $5 with a $50 purchase!

August Girl's Night Out - Card Buffet

Last night I held my first Card Buffet for my August Girl's Night Out Event.  Over the last two months I have been creating and prepping cards for the event.   I created 16 different cards with a variety of themes - Birthday, Thank you, friendship, Sympathy, baby cards and even a wedding card!

Everyone had 2 1/2 hours to create as many cards as they could.  I decided to not serve cake or refreshments that required a break from card making and instead filled up buckets of candy for each table.   I knew no one would want to take a break and the sugar would give them some extra burst of card energy.   I could feel the electricity in the air and the tension as these very determined ladies had one goal in mind  - create all the cards they could!

The average number of cards completed was about 5-6 with a few ladies getting 7-8 card completed. I'm already planning my next buffet for early January bringing back these sixteen cards - there are still plenty left to be created and I'll add at least 8 new cards to bunch giving them even more choices.

Here are some snippets of my event -

Each card had it's own bucket with everything it needed.  The Card Sample had brief instructions on the back.  When they picked up their bucket they retrieved the ink colors needed from my ink and block area.

As they came in, they checked in with me and received a 'Menu' for the night -

Inside the Menu was a list of 'flavors' and all the Buffet rules and Etiquette - to keep everyone nice.

Here is a close up of my 'menu board'.  This is Close To My Heart's new Designed D├ęcor Red Magnetic Chalkboard (Z2006).   I'm loving this board!  I'll be using it again for my Jewelry Buffet at my Open House!

Everything is Better With a Friend

Have you ever just dropped everything on your busy schedule, moved things around and made time for just hanging out with your friends?  I did that just last Friday.  Even though I had just come back from a week's vacation and had been trying to get caught up at work, when I received an email from one of my friends that said "come and hang out" - I did just that.   I have a close group of friends - some I work with, some work at the same place but I only see occasionally and then some friends I that I used to work with but they have moved on to other jobs.   Over the years, we have always stayed in touch.  We try to get together for lunch when we can (and not everyone can always make it) but we ALWAYS get together once a year for our annual cookie Swap.

So, when the "Come hang out at my pool" invite came, we all dropped what we were doing and went!  Hard to turn down a pool day with this 90 plus degree weather accompanied by high humidity.   We hung out by the pool all day and did nothing..... caught up on everyone's busy lives, laughed alot and just relaxed.  I really needed that more than I realized!  So..... this card I created today is dedicated to all my friends that take time out to just hang out.

I created this card using the sketch from Pals Paper Arts.  This stamp - Better With a Friend (D1608) is a special Hostess Rewards set.  Hostess Rewards stamp sets are hostess-only stamp sets that hostesses can purchase using select product credit earned through a Gathering.  I colored the image with our new ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.   After coloring the girl, I decided to use a mix between paper packs!  I used the polka dot paper from Snowhaven along with the stripe paper from Scaredy Cat. The glossy resist cardstock you see is Flaxen from the new Paper Fundamentals Whimsy Assortment.  I used the opposite side of that cardstock (which has the same pattern in Flaxen and White print) for my scallop flower.

Recipe:
White Daisy Cardstock - for 5x7 Cardbase
Black Cardstock - 1386
Paper Fundamentals Whimsy Assortment (Z2033)
Snowhaven Paper Pack - (X7188B)
Scaredy Cat Paper Pack - (X7185B)
Better With a Friend (D1608)
ShinHan Touch Twin Markers - assorted colors
Black Shimmer Trim (Z1809)

Seaside with Compliments

This month my clubs created the Seaside WOTG pages.  These are so pretty and the feature layout in the kit uses the Artbooking cricut Cartridge.   I've got lots of pictures that will go perfectly on these pages - I just need to sit down and get them printed!

Here are the layouts we completed --  pictures shown are from the brochures:

I love the compliments that go with this paper so I had to create another layout using the matching stickease.   The layout sketch is from Make It From Your Heart Vol 2 - Sketch #08.

Instead of using small pictures in the 2x2 spaces, I filled them with stickease - using foam tape to give added dimension.  Aqua Dots give the layout finishing touches.

Congratulations with Freshly Made Sketches

I just returned from vacation to a long list of "To Do's".  First up on the list was to create a card for my niece's baby shower that was today.   Since I was helping to give the shower, I had done alot of the things needed before I left for vacation and I left the last thing - the card for the gift for last.  So I got up early and created the card before I left for church this morning.  First, I'll share the card I created and then I'll share some of the other things I created for the shower too!

I looked to Freshly Made Sketches to get me going.  I can always count on their sketches for a great starting point.   My niece is decorating the baby's room in an airplane theme so we decided to carry that theme out in the baby shower.  So, of course, my card was an airplane theme also.

I used the Chevron Embossing Folder with the Whisper cardstock for the background.   The striped piece is the Outdoor Denim from our new Paper Fundamentals Enchantment Assortment.  I used the other side of this piece which has a glossy embossed pattern of the same design as the mat for my clouds.  I colored the plane with our new ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  I added the Slate Diagonal Striped Ribbon and Silver Sequence as a final touch.   The plane, clouds and banner are the from the Lifting Spirits (C1570) stamp set.   "Congratulations" is from the set - Banner Wishes (B1438).   Here is the sketch that got this card started.

I also made a banner for the shower.

I used the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge to cut the banners in Outdoor Denim Cardstock and Whisper.  I ran the Whisper banners through the Cuttlebug with the Chevron Embossing Folder.   The clouds were cut from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge as well as the letters.  Slate Polka Dot Washi Tape give the banner a nice edge.

Here is a look at the table - Check out the runway created by my mom!
I created the centerpiece with the help of my daughters.  It's an Airplane Diaper Cake!

A shower is not complete without cupcakes!  I cut the wrappers from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge and of course - I had to add some embossing!  This time I used the Polka Dot Embossing Folder! My friend Julie baked the yummy cupcakes and added the ribbon and cupcake toppers.  I thought they turned out adorable!

Thank you for letting me share the Baby Shower pictures with you!  Having the exclusive Close To My Heart Art Philosophy and Artiste Cricut Cartridges made prepping for the shower so much fun!

It's a Merry, Merry Yuletide Carol!

Today I'm featuring the new Yuletide Carol paper!  I love to stamp wreaths so was excited to see that we have a new Christmas Wreath stamp in our new Annual Inspirations called Merry, Merry.

Playing with this wreath was fun.   I stamped the wreath in 2nd generation New England Ivy.  Next I used sponge daubers to daub the ink onto the berries and pine cones.   The berries are Ruby and the pine cones are Cocoa.  Check out the little bird!  I inked the bird up on the corner of my cocoa pad and then used the sponge dauber again to ink the berries.

I used our new Gold Shimmer Trim (LOVE THIS!) and Gold Sequins to give the wreath and card a little Christmas Cheer.

This card will be on display at my Annual Inspirations Open House on Saturday, September 6.  I would LOVE for you to drop by and bring a friend!  I'll have samples of ALL the new papers in addition to many of the new products!  PLUS as always.... FREE Make & Take AND Door Prizes!  It's always fun!

Wanderful with Deconstructed Sketches

Close To My Heart has many great themed paper packs but they are also very versatile  For instance - take a look at Wanderful. This is a paper pack people may look at and think it is only good for traveling/vacation themes.

With this card I created, you can see that this is definitely not the case!  I used the back side of the traveling themed paper to create this pretty card with flowers!

This card features one of Close To My Heart's newest colors - Flaxen.  I used Have a Happy Day stamp for my sentiment and flowers.  The flowers are stamped in Gypsy and Crystal Blue, the leaves in Flaxen.  The ribbon is another new product - Thistle Diagonal Striped Ribbon.

Products used for this card:

Pathfinding with Freshly Made Sketches

Here is another card for my Open House Display!  I had so much fun making this card using the new Pathfinding Paper from Close To My Heart.  The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches.  I used our new Woodgrain Embossing Folder and Chocolate cardstock to create this fun woodgrain look.  After running it through my cuttlebug, I took a sponge and Chocolate ink and rubbed the ink over the embossing lines.   This gave the wood a more defined look.

I used the Thankful Heart stamp for my sentiment, leaves and pumpkin.  I got to experiment more with our new ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  I love these markers but I need to practice more on the blending and coloring but I was pretty happy with how the pumpkin and leaves turned out for a beginner.  They are really easy to use.   I placed one of the cork pieces with the heart on it from the Pathfinding Assortment pack over the "A" in Heart and added a few Gold Sequins for added embellishments to the card.

If you are local to me, you can see this card and more in person at my Open House on September 6! Stop by any time between 9am and 1pm!  I'll have lots to share and a FREE Make & Take!  Plus Door Prizes!!
I'll be at Gateway Mechanical Office Building - 2722 Lascassas Pike - Murfreesboro, TN
Hope to see you there!

Brushed with Mojo Monday

To find New Product Blog hop click HERE.

I'm hoping to get back up to blogging speed.  I've been so busy lately creating things for my open house and I haven't had a chance to share them all.  I'm getting ready to leave for a much needed vacation this weekend.  I'm determined not to take any 'work' with me although it's tempting!   I've been pretty much spending all my spare time in my craft room lately so I think next week should be family time without inky fingers, scissors and adhesive in my hands!

I sneaked in a quick card late last night before I headed off to bed.  I still needed to create about 4 more cards to show off Close To My Heart's new paper packs for my displays so I chose to kill two birds with one stone.   Create something for Mojo Monday and use the new Brushed Paper!

Here is my card!  I always have at least one or two "Love at First Sight" stamps when I get Close To My Heart's new Idea book.  The Rainy Day stamp was one them!  It is just too cute!

I forgot to order those cute Brushed Assortment flowers that go so well with this paper so I used our new Silver Sequins instead!  I added Flamingo Dots to make it look more like a flower!  (BTW.... the Brushed Assortments are on my next order!)  I colored the boots and umbrella with our new ShinHan Touch Twin Markers!

2014 Annual Inspirations New Product Blog Hop

Welcome to our NEW PRODUCT Blog Hop! This hop will take you through 54 consultant blogs introducing you to some of the best new products in Close To My Heart's Annual Inspirations! It's a big circle so when you get back to me you know you have been all the way around the hop! Just look for the next link near the bottom of each post. If you came from April Nourse's Blog you are on the right track! If you get lost along the way you can find the complete list of participants HERE.

I know I haven't been sharing much on my blog since the book has been introduced but I've been in a creative frenzy prepping for my upcoming Open House and projects.   I'll be sharing all of those projects soon.   For the New Product Blog Hop I wanted to do something besides a layout or a card because we have so many awesome new products in addition to our traditional scrapbooking and cardmaking products

One of our new products is from our new Designer Creations Line.  This new line features unique 3-D gift items in fun colors and patterns meant to hold your handmade art, photos, or other treats. The pre-designed pieces can be dressed up, if desired, or can stand alone as finished designed pieces.
The products in this line include:
  • A buttoned bag that can be fastened shut, making storage convenient. (2 bags)
  • A takeout box that folds into a cute gift box and includes a handle. (2 boxes)
  • A cupcake box which includes a round base—just the right size for a cupcake—and a viewing window. (2 boxes)
  • A short stack album and mini frames are ideal for holding photos and other paper pieces and embellishments.
  • Paper bags just the right size for cards, treats, or other small goodies. The bags come in several different designs and 4 colors. (12 bags)
Today, I'm sharing the Take-out box.

I created a wrap around band stamped with stamped in Olive ink with the new Season of Thanks (D1604) stamp.  I also stamped in Autumn Terracotta and cut out a few words and glued them on top of the Olive words.

Next I created a tag using the papers from new Pathfinding (X7186B) paper pack.  The flower and leafs are stamped with another fun new stamp  - Lifetime of Happiness (C1589).  Two more new products round out the tag - Gold Shimmer Trim (Z1985) and Pathfinding Assortments (Z3012).  Both of these are adhesive backed for easy application.   I just LOVE the shimmer trim!   The Topiary Mini Chevron Tibbon (Z1929) ties the tag to the box handle.
