Close To My Heart's New 2017 Planners

Have you seen the new CTMH Planner's?  I just got mine on Saturday and I can't wait to start using them!   Now you can discover your inner artist while staying on top of your schedule with our new 2017 planner system. Each monthly tab features a seasonal design that you can color by hand. This exclusive planner system combines the worlds of work and play to give you a planner you can truly make your own.

The divider pages of the planner (pages with tabs) have thicker paper, which will allow you to use of a variety of products when coloring. Here are the different products you can use on the dividers:
• ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ markers
• Watercolor pencils (dry or with a waterbrush)
• Exclusive Inks™ stamp pads (pressing ink into lid and picking up with a waterbrush)
• Watercolor paints (used with a waterbrush or paintbrush) - Please note: Although the planner is not made with watercolor paper, you can use watercolors on these pages; however, we recommend using paint with very little water for best results.

The planner pages themselves, including the “remember” pages, are made of paper that is more lightweight paper than the dividers—but you can certainly color them! For best results, here are the products we recommend on these pages:
• Watercolor pencils (dry)
• Clear shimmer brush
• Metallics markers
• Marvy® Uchida® LePen™ journaling pen
• Exclusive Inks™ stamp pad -  Please note: Although you can use ink from our stamp pads on these pages, we recommend using smaller stamp images and lighter colors for best results. We do not recommend using our pigment inks.

There are three bundles to choose from - 2 bundles include an Everyday Life Album, and if you already have any album, you can choose just the planner page bundle!  With or without the album, the planner bundle includes monthly calendars (Sunday through Saturday), weekly calendars (Monday through Sunday), 12 pages for notes and journaling, a clear pencil bag, and three gold paperclips.
Everyday Life™ Sea Glass Album & Planner Pages Bundle (CC1177) - $31.90

Everyday Life™ Stripes Album & Planner Pages Bundle (CC1178) - $31.90

Everyday Life™ 2017 Planner Pages (no album) (CC2017) - $16.95

Cricut City Sidewalks Blog Hop

Welcome to our City Sidewalks Cricut Blog Hop!  This special hop features Close To My Heart's exclusive new digital cricut cartridge - City Sidewalks!  If you came here from Priscilla Gotham's Blog you are on the right track!  When you get to the bottom of my post look for the next blog link to hop to the next blog!  If you get lost, you can see the entire blog list HERE.

This fun cricut cartridge goes great with the City Sidewalks paper and Compliments and also the "Joy to You and Me" stamp set!  I created several cards with this set.  Today I'll focus on one card and I will post the others I have created later on my blog.  This card will be one of my 'dessert' cards in my upcoming Christmas Card Workshop.

I just love this City Sidewalks paper with the houses on it and I wanted to use it as a background for my card.  So I cut a larger house (using 2 1/2" for my size) from the cartridge.  Three different colors of cardstock make up this house and they are all layered to create this look!  Isn't it cute - right down to the front steps! I recommend cutting this house at 2 1/2" or larger, otherwise the cuts come out very tiny and even with my Explore this was not cutting well until I enlarged it.  Also - be sure to set your Explore to the Custom Setting and use "Cardstock - Intricate Cuts".

I used the Joy to You and Me C1656 stamp set with this card as well.  The banner for this stamp coordinates with the Artistry Cricut Cartridge.  I stamped it in Cranberry Ink.  Next, I added Silver Sequins to finish the card.

Remember, this cricut cartridge will only be available until December 31st!  Get it today and start creating some fun Christmas cards and layouts!   Contact your consultant to order, or if you do not have a CTMH Consultant, you can purchase it at

Next up is Vickie ODell's Blog.  I can't wait to see what she has created!

True Love - An Operation Smile Blog Hop

Welcome to our Spread The Love Blog Hop! Today we are featuring a very special stamp, True Love, that is available ONLY through July 31st! What is so special about this stamp set? Not only is it adorable but when you purchase this stamp, Close To My Heart will donate $7 to Operation Smile! Since its founding in 1982, Operation Smile has performed over 220,000 surgical procedures to correct facial deformities in children. It only takes an hour for volunteer medical teams to perform these life-altering surgeries that will give children confidence for a lifetime.

If you came here from Jen Rubio's blog, you are on the right track! Just look for the link at the bottom of my post that will take you to the next blog! The hop is one big circle so when you come back to me, you will know you have visited all of the blogs! If you get lost along the way you can check the list HERE.

I wanted to use this month's feature paper, Swan Lake, for my card so I matched the colors on the little girl's dress and heart with the colors in Swan Lake using my ShinHan Touch Twin Markers and my CTMH Marker Color Chart  I embossed a piece of Glacier Cardstock with the new folder - Happy Thoughts and sanded the words "BE HAPPY" so that it would show up more in the background.  I cut extra hearts with the Flower Market Cricut cartridge and stamped them in Poppy and Peacock ink.  The ribbon is from the Rustic Home Ribbon Pack.

How can you help support Operation Smile through Close To My Heart? There are three ways:
  1. Purchase the True Love stamp. Close To My Heart will donate $7 for each True Love stamp set sold! This stamp is only available to purchase through July 31, 2017!
  2. When you purchase ANY My Acrylix stamp set, a portion of each stamp is donated to Operation Smile.
  3. Round Up! Any time you make a purchase with Close To My Heart you can 'round up' your total to the nearest dollar! This 'round up' amount will be donated to Operation Smile.

October Stamp of the Month - Yuletide Joy

Welcome to the October Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring the Yuletide Joy stamp. This set of 7 stamps, which coordinates with the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge. If you have come here from Alyson Mayo's Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE.

With the popular coloring crazy going on right now, I'm sure this stamp set would be great for that.  But I wanted to create something that could be reproduced for some quick and easy Christmas cards. I tried out a new technique (new to me anyway) that I found very fun.  I'm not sure it really has a name but I call it Whitewash pigment painting.  Let's take a look at this card.

I started by stamping the image onto Kraft paper with Versa Mark Ink.  I heat embossed with White embossing powder.   Next I squeezed just a tiny bit of white pigment re-inker onto a block. Using a small round waterbrush, I dipped it into the white pigment re-ink and brushed it across the image. Once the image is dry (it doesn't take long) I then 'colored' the stocking.  Next, I squeezed the lid of my ink pad tightly to the base to get ink onto the lid.  I used my waterbrush to pick up Poppy ink and painted it onto the candy.  Next I used Willow ink to paint the entire stocking.  The white pigment ink gives the colors a whitewashed look.  To finish the look, I brushed it with our Shimmer Brush to give it a sparkle.

Here is a closer view:

This was a really fun technique to try out.  I will be teaching this in my October Technique Tuesday Class.  If you are local to me, check out my Upcoming Events tab for more information on that class.

Remember! You can get this stamp for just $5 during the month of October when you purchase $50 in Close To My Heart Products!
