May This Be Your GRANDEST Year Yet!

Image
Christmas is past and the New Year is fast approaching.  I had so much fun the last couple of months creating Christmas cards! But it's time to put away all my Christmas stamps and start some new projects!  I've been planning a technique card workshop in January and needed one more card.   Mojo Monday provided the perfect sketch to use!   My workshop - Cards With EDGE will be focusing on embossing!  This card is one of four cards we'll create. Here is the Mojo Monday sketch: (I used the square sketch for my 6x6 card) For this card I used the Hooray Bouquet (D1491)   stampset which coordinates with our Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge (Z1686) .   I cut the large flower <Flower6> at 2 3/4" and a smaller flower at 2".  The large flower was cut onto the Sorbet B&T from Elemental Level 2 (X7141B)  and the smaller 2" flower was cut on Colonial White Cardstock.  Even though the large flower was a print, I st...

Vertical is Elemental!

I did it!  I said I wouldn't but I did.   I went ahead and created another card when I said I was headed to bed.   But this one is so clean and simple it took just minutes to create!  This is card #3 for the Moxie Fab card challenges.   This time I used the Vertical Sketch. Even though I originally wanted to create a card with pennants like the picture shows, I thought I'd try something a little different.  So instead I used some Elemental Compliments - which are dimensional elements in color! I'm so loving this Kraft cardstock with the Elemental paper.   They go so well together.   I didn't think Elemental would be one of my favorite packs but I really do like working with it.   There are so many options because of 6 different colors and patterns.   The strip centering the Sorbet cardstock piece is  the Zip Strip from the pattern paper.   Our pattern paper now has a 1/2" strip that you trim off the...

Trial and Error = Embossed!

Image
I pulled out my Background - Charmed stampset this morning to create something with the stamp that had pumpkins and vines.   I used this stamp set the other day to make a Halloween card.  You can see that post HERE if you missed it.    I wasn't sure WHAT I was going to do so it took several efforts to finally get to my final product.   Each time I stamped the image I thought of a 'better look' and proceeded to create the idea.   You can see here  - it took me 4 tries to get to the stamped image that I was happy with! I started out with Olive on White Daisy.  Hmmm.... this might look better with Chocolate Ink on Olive Cardstock....  Well maybe Chocolate Ink on Goldrush cardstock.   Still not there!  HEY! How about Cocoa Embossed on Goldrush?  FINALLY. Final Product: I used Elemental paper along with Dreamin' paper for my 5x7 card.  The Elemental Paper just mixes in with any of the other Level 2 Paper packs ...

Crazy For Fall - Creating Cards for Fall

Image
The temperature finally cooled down to a 'fall-like' level this week and this has me yearning for the colors of fall to hurry up and get here!  BTW - when the temperature falls below 62 degrees, I absolutely have to make my first batch of the chili of season.  When I headed home from work on Tuesday it was 59 degrees - So we had Chili for supper! This fall like weather has got me in the mood to make some cards and over at the Crazy 4 Challenges blog the colors to use this week are perfect!  I had my colors, now I just needed a sketch to get me going.  I checked out the sketch over at Clean & Simple and immediately I knew what I wanted to do!  So armed with my Close To My Heart colors and my favorite stamp for THIS week - So Grateful , I got started! Here is my card:  Recipe: White Daisy Die-Cut Card & Envelopes - Z1473 Elemental Level 2 Paper - X7141B Neutral Cardstock Combo (Chocolate) - X5921 Autumn Cardstoc...

Hooray Bouquet with Cricut

Image
Here is another stamp set from Close To My Heart's 2011 Autumn Winter Idea Book that I just couldn't wait to try out!  This stamp is called Hooray Bouquet and it has six stamps that coordinate with images on the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. I needed to make a card for a co-worker that is retiring this week. (Lucky gal!)  This was the perfect stamp for the card I had in mind. Hooray Bouquet and Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge The card pattern is from Wishes - Open Outline .   Although there is a template with the book for the cut out circle, I used my cricut cartridge to cut them out.  EASY! Desert Sand is the base for my 6x6 card.  I chose the sorbet pattern paper from the Elemental Paper pack and used one of the circle dimensional elements from the coordinating  Elemental Compliments .  Next I cut out the two flower shapes with the Arts Philosophy cricut cartridge - one on Sorbet cardstock and the smaller one on Colonial White cardstoc...
