Play Date Cafe - Splash of Color

Challenge #2 for me this week!   I went to the Play Date Cafe today to see what I'd been missing!  Their challenge was to use BLACK & WHITE with a Splash of color!    I've been working with my August Stamp of the Month so I just added another card to use for the Play Date Cafe Challenge.   This card could be a congratulatory card - which means you don't have to use this set ONLY for Halloween!  Since I was already using the color Sunset I used that as my Splash of color! Here is my card! I used the 'honeycomb' stamp to stamp directly on the card with black ink.   Then I stamped on another piece of cardstock with Sunset ink.  I cut out each honeycomb and used 3D foam tape to pop it up off the black honeycomb. This stamp is called "Wicked" and it is "wickedly cute"!   It will be available August 1st.   Come back to my blog on August 1 to see more artwork with this stamp set!

Back to Challenges!

It has been a LONG time since I've done any challenges.  I was anxious to get back to them but I really wanted some of my new products to use.  I needed to make a wedding card and didn't have time to wait for new product so I headed to my existing stuff to see what I had.   Well nothing could be more perfect than Bliss!   First challenge for me this week - Pals Paper Arts .    This week it is a design sketch and that was exactly what I needed to get me started on my wedding card. Here is the sketch: And my card! I used Bliss Paper (X7132) with the Irresistables Villa Chipboard Die-Cuts (Z1390).  Both of these products will retire July 31 so order this week if you want to get them before they are gone! I LOVE the Irresistables!   The are so easy to add color and the resist part 'shines' through.  I used Sorbet ink for my splash of color.  I used Bamboo ink on the key to give it a 'gold' look.   The ribbon is from the Mistletoe Creative Basics pack (X5

Last Week of Spring/Summer!

Today is the last week for the 2011 Spring/Summer Idea Book!  I'm excited about all the new products coming next week but if there was something you wanted from the Spring/Summer Book - get it before it's gone!   (You will still be able to order all the stamps from this book through January 31) So.... what is going away at the end of the week? These four papers in Level 1, Level 2 and Workshop kits:   Bliss, Sweetheart, Miracle and Wings. Also these Level 1 and Level 2 paper kits: Olivia, Magnifique, Mistletoe and Hooligans .   (I have pictures of these on a previous post.  Click HERE to see) Also these Mini Medley Accents Colors: Lagoon (Z1340)       Outdoor Denim (Z1277)        Pear (Z1339) Some of the My Acrylix Blocks are retiring also.  A couple of them are some of my MOST used blocks!  I don't like using a big block with a small stamp so it is nice to have blocks that are very close to stamp size.   These sizes are retiring: Y1001    1 x 1 1/2  Y1005

Convention 2011 Wrap Up!

Well what can I say?  It was AWESOME but I wouldn't expect anything less from Close To My Heart.  I had a blast and they literally BLEW me away with all the new products.   I can't stop looking at my new Idea Book!   These are my wonderful roomies!   Jackie Gay (Alabama), Me, Rae Bangs (Washington) and Sharon Ivanaukas (New Jersey).    Aren't those the cutest Minnie Mouse ears? On Friday, We created a layout with the new Roxie paper.  (This one may be my favorites) We used the new Bling Assortment that has large and small buttons along with pins.  Also - check out the new 10 Things Pocket .  It has numbered strips for journaling.  The stamp set we used is called 10 Things ! On Saturday at our Gadgets & Gizmos class we created this cute little My Creations chipboard Memory Game .  Inside it has 24 3x3 chipboard squares.   This little box has ALL KINDS of potential!  I'm currently planning an Advent Calendar Workshop for it. Many of these pieces were

Convention 2011 - Day 1

What a day it has been!  The morning started out with a team picture of the Scattered Hearts Unit (will post that when it is available).    Then we all gathered outside the convention room doors anxiously awaiting for them to open.   It is almost like Christmas Day waiting until the parents get up and you can start opening your presents! The doors finally open.....  and it is magical!   The stage has been transformed into a fairy tale. Cinderella and her prince danced for us..... Jeanette introduced Close To My Heart's new Mission Statement: We show you how to celebrate relationships through discovering your creativity, to preserve and share the moments that matter most. This encompasses all aspects of preservation no matter how you do it - whether it is classical scrapbooking or using our Studio J program.    Times are changing and Close To My Heart is embracing the change in every way.    AWESOME! Next, 2 fairies and a elf came out to share some news that we were waiti

Disneyland Day 1 -Leadership

Yesterday was a great day!   It was my first time to attend Leadership so wasn't sure what to expect except I knew I'd be inspired to work my business more.  Jeanette Lynton, CEO and Founder of Close To My Heart came out and greeted everyone.   She is an awesome lady.   She introduced Brian Holman, VP of Finance and COO.  Brian had many great things to say of Jeanette.  He said,  "Jeanette is an Innovator NOT an Imitator".   So true!    I'm sure we will see evidence of that today.  Brian said this will be the most exciting convention since the announcement of the My Acrylix Stamps.   That is HUGE! We got our Create & Take kits which had a 'hint' of things to come.  The kit included everything needed to make 8 3x3 cards.   Each card had a piece of one of the new papers. We also got a bag of embellishments for the cards and there were 3 new types of embellishments.  Looks like corrugated stars, printed butterflies and Sparkle buttons!  Here are the c

2 Days til Disneyland!

I have returned home from Hot and Humid Chattanooga. And guess what?! It's HOT & HUMID here too!  So, it's a good day to gather together my supplies for convention. (I pulled out my clothes last week and have them pressed and stacked ready to put in my suitcase). Close to My Heart sent us a supply list a few weeks ago.  These are things that we will need when we do our Create & Takes. This is so much fun.  At Extravaganza on Thursday we will gets lots of new products and we'll be using them in our Create & Takes. So today I have been going through my supply list and checking off my items one by one.  I thought it would be fun to show you which supplies I'm bringing for each day.   Get your imagination going and start wondering what we'll be doing! Wednesday's list is for Leadership Day.   The combination of ink pads I'm required to bring is a bit odd.   I wonder if certain colors will be used for one project and other colors for a different p
