A Holly Jolly Christmas

Image
Here is a card that I started yesterday morning and didn't finish until last night.   I found a sketch over at Unscripted Sketches that I wanted to use along with an inspiration photo from Inspired By to combine into one card.   I really struggled with this card and it actually morphed into the finished product after some trial and errors.   I couldn't believe I was struggling with what I thought would be an easy sketch! Here is my finished product To create this card, I cut 1" strips of Juniper, Sweet Leaf and Smoothie cardstock.  I adhered them to the card at an angle leaving a very small space of white in between each strip and overlapping the edges.  Once all the strips were attached, I trimmed them even to the card front.  I wanted to add shimmer to the card so I filled in each gap between the strips with Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel .  (I absolutely LOVE this stuff and it's retiring January 31! So you might want to grab some before it's gone!)

Black Friday thru Cyber Monday Special!

Image
I really hate crowds.....crowds of grouchy weary shoppers that is.   I don't like crowded parking lots where people lurk to find a close spot because they don't want to walk a little bit.  I don't like people pushing and shoving and to get a good deal.    I've always stayed home during the Thanksgiving Holiday.  I will do everything I can to avoid even running to the grocery store down the street! I will eventually venture out in the next week after the rush is over.  If I could, I would do all my Christmas Shopping on-line!  If you are like me, then you will love my special offer - A FREE Stamp with your order!   We all love FREE!  Who doesn't?! In honor of all those shoppers who want to stay IN on Black Friday, I have a special offer available ONLY through me when you shop on my website Black Friday through Cyber Monday! So what is the deal?   Here is the Deal! -  To get your FREE stamp from me, just place your qualifying order and then s

Another November Birthday Card!

Image
I've had several Birthday cards to make this month.   November is filled with Birthday's for me so in the middle of my Christmas card creations I need to stop every so often and create a birthday card.   So, birthday card #3 in the month of November goes to my dear hubby!   It's simple yet sort of rugged with no frills which reminds me of my husband! I used the sketch from Clean & Simple stamping for my pattern and the inspiration photo from The Inspired Challenges.  I sanded the Outdoor Denim cardstock to resemble the faded jeans in the photo.  The pattern piece of paper is from the Tommy paper pack. Recipe - 5 x 7 card White Daisy Cardstock (1385) Outdoor Denim Cardstock (1275) Tommy Paper pack (X7169B) * Woodgrain Washi from Party Washi 3 pack (Z1908)** Cork Color Ready Alphabet (retired) Keyboard Kraft Alphabet (Z1825) Natural Hemp (Z280) * *These items will retire at January 31, 2014.  Go to RETIRING ITEMS to see ALL the products th

A Holiday Kraft Container

Image
Here is another quick Christmas gift idea!  I love Close To My Heart's My Creations Kraft Containers.  These containers come ready for you decorate!  Just add paper and embellishments.  You can even stamp on them.   They are perfect size for small gifts for a teacher, friend, or neighbor!  I think I may fill mine with cookies! I used the Sparkle & Shine (X7176B)  paper and added the Sparkle & Shine Compliments (Z1860)  for an easy finishing touch!  I stamped "Happy Holidays"   Ruby ink using the stamp from the Perfect Fit - Holidays set (B1412) .  I created this container in just minutes on a lunch break one day. Not kidding!  I was working about 5 minutes from home. So at lunch I ran home (well - actually I drove) washed a sink full of dishes (my family thinks if ONE dish is in the sink then the dishwasher MUST be full!), made me a sandwich and ate it and then created this container. I was back to work in less than an hour!  I LOVE simple & quick

Why it's Great to be 19

Image
Today is my daughter's birthday.   She told me the other that day that there just wasn't anything good about 19.   I asked her what she meant by that.   She said "19" is boring.   There is just nothing exciting about being 19.   She said when you turn 13 you are finally a "teen".  When you turn 16 that's exciting because now you get to drive.   When you turn 18, you are legally an adult.  When you turn 21, you are of legal age.  But when you turn 19, what is exciting about that? So in honor of Kayli's 19th Birthday, I'm going to give her a list of 10 reasons why it is great to be 19! 1. This is your last year to be considered a "TEENAGER". 2.  It is socially acceptable to still be living at home. 3. If you flipped the number "19" around, you'd be "61".  'nuff said about that. 4. You still have 6 more years to go before being kicked off your parents Insurance. 5.  You survived High School. 6

Peace and Joy

I didn't do anything creative yesterday.  Instead I went shopping.  Gasp! I really don't like shopping much anymore.  I left the house at 8:30am to get to one of my favorite stores that was having a sale - and if you got there before 10 am you got a $10 gift card.  I needed a few new clothes - mine seem to have all shrunk.  So I hit the sale and then I met up with a friend to do more shopping at the annual Hollydays Market Place.  It was fun but by 2:00 we were shopped out (we are pathetic shoppers). So I headed home to take a much needed nap.  I was so worn out and my feet were aching I couldn't even get myself to my scrap room to do anything. This afternoon, I did make it to my scrap room armed with a bunch of challenges I wanted to give a shot at.  I was really inspired by the photo on the Inspired By Challenge and decided to combine it with the Deconstructed Sketch.   The stamp set I used is sold exclusively with the Frosted Cardmaking Workshop on the Go Kit .  This s

Create a Pocket Album to Keep Your Photo Christmas Cards!

Image
I purchased the My Creations Kraft Pocket Album a few months back not knowing what I would do with it but figured I would think of something!  A few weeks ago, I came across a stack of photo cards that I had bound together with a shiny gold ribbon.   I untied the ribbon to look at the cards.  I had saved every photo card that I had gotten over the last several years.  I never could throw away a photo card!  It just seemed odd to throw someone's carefully planned annual photo in the trash!  So I had kept every last one of them.   It was fun to look through the years to see how much my friends children had grown!  This is when my idea hit me!  I would use the pocket album to store these cards!  A pocket for each family!  There are 18 total pockets in this little album.  Perfect! So I set to work trying to decide how to decorate the front of the album and then I came across Close To My Heart's Video sharing the Pocket Album they created.  My pocket album is inspired by their vid

All Wrapped Up in Washi

Pillow Boxes are a cute and VERY EASY way to give a Christmas gift this year!  Close to My Heart's My Creations Pillow Boxes are clear and measure 6" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2".  You get 3 pillow boxes for just $2.95.  The perfect size for hiding a gift card, jewelry, or other small gifts.  They are even food-safe!  So fill it up with homemade goodies!   I decorated my pillow boxes in just a snap with Washi tape. Christmas Tree Washi Pillow Box This one was really easy.   I used the Party Washi Tape and Sparkle & Shine Washi Tape 3 packs. The Party Washi 3-pack comes with a wood grain washi design which I used for my tree.  I used the honey washi in this same pack to cover my dimensional element star.  The juniper and ruby washi tapes from the Sparkle and Shine 3-pack make up my tree. Then I added some bling for ornaments.  My final touch was to add a tag I created using the Perfect Fit-Christmas stamp set. Santa Pillow Box For this San

Merry Christmas Background Card

Image
I combined challenges to make this card today using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the Technique Challenge from Just Us Girls . I think it is quite a busy card myself but I still kind of like it.   I used Ruby and Topiary Inks for Merry Christmas.   The stamp is from Holiday Tags which also includes 4 frames - one I used here. The frames in this stamp set all coordinate with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge .
