I didn't think I'd be creating any more Fall/Thanksgiving cards because I've been in the Christmas mode lately.  But I couldn't pass up on a few challenges that I wanted to try out.   Moxie Fab was one.  It called for using canvas, cork and or burlap.   The key word here is Burlap .  If you've been following my blog, you know how much I love playing with burlap! So I combined the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches , the colors from Just Us Girls and the call for cork and burlap for Moxie Fab!  Here is what I came up with!  A simple card to Give Thanks. I used Kraft paper for my card base along with a piece of B&T paper from the Flirty Paper Pack (X7160B) .  The leaves are from the Flirty Compliments Dimensional Elements (X7160C) .   I tied some Olive Bakers Twine from the Baker's Twine Harvest Assortment (Z1751) around my piece of Burlap.  I cut the Burlap lengthwise to make is more narrow and pulled some strands to fray th...

Hello there! I got home from my annual MAD trip on Wednesday. After getting the 'mundane' house things accomplished (and catching up on sleep!), I finally had time to play along with some challenges! Armed with a list of challenges I had printed out, I went to work.   This week's Color Throwdown color drew me in right away because they had some colors from my FAVORITE paper pack - Flirty (X7160B) .  Note to self - Purchase another pack of this beautiful paper!!  I combined these colors with a sketch from Friday Mash-up for this card. I added Pear cardstock to Flirty's color's of Goldrush and Flirty Raspberry.  A great combination!   I used the new Artiste Cricut Cartridge for the banner, balloons and star.   The Artiste collection includes a stamp set that perfectly matches all three!  The banner is just the size for the Dimensional Elements - Banners that are ALSO included in the Artiste collection.   I used the Art Phi...

This week's Friday Mashup has a technique I haven't tried before - Starburst Technique.  I thought it made a really pretty design so I wanted to give it a try.   My card is going to a friend who is going through tough times right now.  I wanted to send her words of encouragement and the starburst design to me says "Things will be brighter".  I hope the colors of the card will brighten her day and cheer her up. I used Flirty paper (X7160B) for my card and accented it with Color Ready Wooden Arbor Shapes (Z1765) and a flower from Just Blooms Floret Paper Shapes (Z1764) .  The Olive ribbon is from the Mini Medley Accents - Olive Collection (Z1489).  The sentiment is from the W ords of Comfort stamp set (C1524) . I was so glad to finally get to actually 'play' in my scraproom today and not 'work'.  I've had so many projects I needed to do before I could create for fun.  Late Friday night I finished my Workshop On The Go project for my upcoming clubs so that meant Saturday would be play time!  Well..... wait, I had several non-scrapping Saturday To Do's first - like go to grocery, go to post office and shopping. (oh wait - that wasn't on my To Do List but when it's 50% off at Altar'd State - gotta go!)   When I finally sat down to create I seemed to have a creative block!  NOT FUN!!  I don't know why!  I had an entire sheet of challenges that I printed out this morning for inspiration.  It took me a while to get started, but once I tackled one I felt like my mojo was finally flowing.  So now - on to my next challenge! I have a few monthly Hostess Clubs that get together each month and create scrapbooking layouts using Close To My Heart's Workshop On the Go kits.  I started my first club about 4 years ago and over the years I have expanded into 4 clubs.   Some ladies have come and gone and some have been with me the entire time.   The ladies in my clubs are not just customers, they have become dear friends.  Not only to me, but to the other ladies in the club.
