Who is ready for spring?  I know I am!!  I believe this is the 4th time I've worked from home due to icy road conditions here in Tennessee.   I'm not sure about tomorrow.  Although it started melting some this afternoon, with temperatures no higher than low teens tonight, it will all just freeze back. After I shut my work laptop down for the day I was in the mood to create something with color - something to make me think of Spring.   So my little daffodil stamp set was just the thing.   These pretty little flowers are some of the first ones to poke through after the hard winter.  I LOVE daffodils. This card is very simple.  I stamped the image in black and then used my ShinHan Touch Twin Markers to color.  I layered it onto Topiary Cardstock.   To keep a clean and simple look, I used a journaling pen to draw a line around the edge.   I used Topiary washi tape for my pennants on the side. It's been a very long time since I last participated in a challenge!  The last few months were busy and any free crafting time I had was devoted to class designs.  I've got my classes set through February so I thought I'd take a fun break and hit a challenge or two! Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great July 4th weekend!  Today its back to routine and work.  BOOO.... but maybe this card will lift your spirits about the workweek ahead. I created this card for the H2H Challenge in which I'm a Guest Designer for this month!   The focus of this week's challenge is to create something that is up in the air such as a plane, helicopter, hot air balloon, butterfly, bird, etc. For my card I used sketch #83 from Case This Sketch with Close To My Heart's Balloon Ride paper. Quick post here..... I'm about to head out for a quick weekend trip to Atlanta.  My Hubby and I are going to the SEC Basketball tournament.   We planned this trip back when our favorite team - KY Wildcats were looking pretty good but after we purchased our tickets they sort of took a turn for mediocre to say the least.   Maybe they'll find their mojo and get something going for the tournament. Anyway, I plan to enjoy the weekend! I packed this morning and had a little time to create something while waiting for Jeff to get home.  For this card I used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch.  The colors were inspired by Pals Paper Arts.   I used paper from Jubilee (X7181B) paper pack and Topiary Cardstock which I thought were perfect for the colors. I used a stamp from Distressed Background (D1544) and Topiary ink to stamp of the cardstock to give it a pattern. The sentiment is from Big Hug (D1584). I had my monthly Girl's Night Out event last Friday and we had so much fun!  We put together some really cute necklaces from Close To My Heart's new Base & Bling collection .   Everyone chose either Antiqued Gold or Silver chain and pendent and a sticker from the Dreamer Style   (Z1976) sheet to put in their pendent.  Then they got to choose 2 charms!   I created this card using the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch to show that these charms are also adorable as embellishments on cards and even layouts! I've been itching to use my new Feathers (C1584) stamp and here I finally got to! I stamped the feathers in Sunset, Cotton Candy and Juniper to go with the Lollydoodl e (X7183B) paper I used.  I tied up two feather charms with the new Metallic Bakers Twine.  The stamped sentiment is from a an old retired stamp set I had on hand. I had a pretty productive day beginning about 7:30 this morning.  Saturday is my day to sleep in since I get up at 5am during the week to get ready for work.  But this morning I woke up about 6:30 and couldn't get back to sleep so I finally gave up and got up.  I went into the kitchen to fix myself some breakfast but got side tracked by my 'tupperware cabinet'.  You know the cabinet.  It's the biggest cabinet in your kitchen that is full of every size and shape of plastic ware - containers, bowls and lids!  My cabinet had gotten to the shape where you quickly open the door - throw something in and close the door before something else falls out.   I opened the cabinet and sat down and begin taking everything out.  I was determined to keep only the items that had a lid, and get rid of anything that I no longer used.   I probably threw away about 40 lids!  I guess I had this fear that a container would show up looking for it's matching lid ...

I needed to make another graduation card recently so I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch! .  I'm almost too late in getting it posted.  My dear hubby has been trying to fill up his new found free time (no more summer travel ball anymore) so he's been working on re-landscaping our yard.  Front AND back!  For some reason, he thinks I have this same new found free time and I want to spend it working in the yard.  So I spent Sunday going to the nursery and then planting several new bushes that we brought home with us.  I have to admit - it does look pretty good. It is really nice to work on projects together like this but I don't want it to take up ALL my free time! I NEED my scrap therapy!  Anyway, on to my card...... Here is a quick card I made last night.  I'm still working on getting the hang of 'clean and simple'.  I used the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch and the colors from Playdate Cafe .  When I saw both challenges I just knew they had to go together!  I used In the Background (D1540)  stamp because I can't get enough of the chevrons! My tropical flowers are from another new set - Tropical Paradise (C1531) .  For a little pizzazz to the card I added Glitz Glitter Gel - Stardust (Z1313) so I'm also entering this card into CAS-ual Friday's Challenge. I've been working all weekend on my artwork submission application to teach at convention this year.  I taught last year and it was a wonderful experience.  Not sure I could be so lucky to get picked two times in a row but it would be great if I did!  I've finished my artwork, now I just need to pack it up and get it shipped.  I'll be sharing those things a little later. When I finished today I wanted to make a quick card for a couple of challenges.   Sometimes I get so caught up in new product that I don't have to time to go back and use some of my old favorite stamp sets.  Today, I did!  I pulled out one of my all time favorite sets and it's still available today! I used the sketch #17 from CASe this Sketch and colors from Dynamic Duos for this card. The colors are Close To My Heart colors of Topiary and Honey .  My stamp is Just For You (B1398) .
