Gina's Little Corner of StampinHeaven

Here is a quick card I made with the Dream Pop paper using the Freshly Made Sketch #87 . One reason this card was so easy is because I used this piece from the Dream Pop paper pack: The strip down the side of the paper gave me exactly what I needed!  The other portion of the paper provides a nice background for the card. Today I wanted to share with you the 2nd layout I created for my application to teach at this year's Close To My Heart convention.   Due to a new format, they cut the field of teachers back from 32 to just 18.  I was not selected this year but I will try again next year! My oldest daughter traveled to Louisville, KY with a couple of friends back in February to run in a race on her 23rd birthday.  My sister lives in Louisville and she has a daughter Kirsti's age so all got together the evening after the race and celebrated her birthday.  My sister even made her a cake.  It was a special day so I wanted to be sure to capture the memory for her. For this layout, I used our Claire paper pack, chevron ribbon, burlap ribbon, wooden mini medley accents and lots of wooden trinkets shapes!   I had not used the wooden trinket shapes yet so I had a lot of fun using them on this layout.  This layout is Sketch #1 from the Make It From Your Heart Book. ...

It's been almost another whole week and nothing new from my little corner of StampinHeaven.  I tell you, that little corner has been lonely lately.   I sat at a ball tournament all weekend and into the wee hours of the morning on Sunday.  After six games on Saturday the girls got 2nd place in the Championship Game.  It was a long long day and I had no motivation on Sunday to do much. I did eventually find my way into the room though.  I needed to make a card for an upcoming gathering I'm doing on Sunday for a friend.  I prefer to call it a mini-workshop though, as no one really likes to go to parties much anymore.   When I design a card for a gathering such as this, I try to   think of my audience.  Are they seasoned crafters, new to the stamping world or just dabblers here and there.  I wanted to design something that wasn't too labor intensive and scare off potential crafters but yet detailed enough to inspire even a seasoned crafter...
