Is it just me or has this year FLOWN by?!  It seems like just yesterday that I was beginning to think about my daughter's final semester of high school and now she has just completed her first semester of college!   One minute I was planning a graduation party and looking forward to Close To My Heart's annual convention and the next minute I'm frantically finishing up my Christmas shopping and getting excited about the new Spring/Summer Idea book arriving at my door on Christmas Eve! We are just days away from 2014 and I took a look back on this past year through my blog.   Somehow in my busy life I managed to find a little bit of scrapping time.   I totaled up all the cards I created through 2013.  WOW.... Each month, Close To My Heart provides a fun download that you can use to create something with. I always look forward to the 1st of each month and can't wait to see what little goodie is waiting for me to download.   This month it is a sheet full of colorful tags!  You can either print them out for some VERY QUICK and easy tags for your gifts, or you can use them in other ways.  I decided to use them on some quick cards I wanted to create. Here are a couple of cards I created using one of these tags I used Sky and Cranberry Cardstock for this card.  Look closely and you can see where I used tone on tone stamping with snowflakes on the Cranberry cardstock.   I added a sparkle flourish and red bow (retired cranberry ribbon and I was done!  I used Sketch #270 from Clean and Simple Stamping for this card.   This one was very quick! I combined challenges to make this card today using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the Technique Challenge from Just Us Girls . I think it is quite a busy card myself but I still kind of like it.   I used Ruby and Topiary Inks for Merry Christmas.   The stamp is from Holiday Tags which also includes 4 frames - one I used here. Wow.... It's been a really busy week!  I had three of my monthly club meetings all this past week and in the middle of that, I've made a 6x6 book for a friend who is retiring (will share that soon), and I've been getting ready for convention - which means I needed to create a roomie gift too!   Our annual Close To My Heart Convention is next week and I've had a mile long list of things to do.   I'm slowly checking them off.   So, that has left little time for some plain ol' crafty fun. I did manage to squeeze some in this evening.   If you keep up with me, you know that no matter how busy I am, I still love to check in on my favorite challenge blogs.   Sometimes it helps to take a small break from 'busy' and do something fun.  That is exactly what I did tonight.  While my hubby was out watering the shrubs I took advantage of a little bit of time and threw together this card. Wedding cards are something that I don't need too much.  When I did need one, I never really had a stamp that was geared towards getting married.   Problem solved with the new 2013 Spring Summer Idea Book from Close To My Heart!  I have a beautiful new stamp - The Happy Couple (D1539) that I couldn't wait to use!  Even though I don't know anyone getting married right now I created a card yesterday.  Now, I will have a card ready the next time I need one. I used the sketch from Just Us Girls this week to create this card. I used a piece of black glitter paper from the new Black and Grey Glitter paper (Z1829) for my background on this 5x7 card.  The cake and "Congratulations" are from The Happy Couple stamp set (shown right).  I trimmed each layer of cake with a tiny strip of black glitter paper.    The third new product I used is the For Always Textiles (Z1820).    These textiles coordinate with the For Always (...

I didn't think I'd be creating any more Fall/Thanksgiving cards because I've been in the Christmas mode lately.  But I couldn't pass up on a few challenges that I wanted to try out.   Moxie Fab was one.  It called for using canvas, cork and or burlap.   The key word here is Burlap .  If you've been following my blog, you know how much I love playing with burlap! So I combined the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches , the colors from Just Us Girls and the call for cork and burlap for Moxie Fab!  Here is what I came up with!  A simple card to Give Thanks. I used Kraft paper for my card base along with a piece of B&T paper from the Flirty Paper Pack (X7160B) .  The leaves are from the Flirty Compliments Dimensional Elements (X7160C) .   I tied some Olive Bakers Twine from the Baker's Twine Harvest Assortment (Z1751) around my piece of Burlap.  I cut the Burlap lengthwise to make is more narrow and pulled some strands to fray th...

I was so glad to finally get to actually 'play' in my scraproom today and not 'work'.  I've had so many projects I needed to do before I could create for fun.  Late Friday night I finished my Workshop On The Go project for my upcoming clubs so that meant Saturday would be play time!  Well..... wait, I had several non-scrapping Saturday To Do's first - like go to grocery, go to post office and shopping. (oh wait - that wasn't on my To Do List but when it's 50% off at Altar'd State - gotta go!)   When I finally sat down to create I seemed to have a creative block!  NOT FUN!!  I don't know why!  I had an entire sheet of challenges that I printed out this morning for inspiration.  It took me a while to get started, but once I tackled one I felt like my mojo was finally flowing.  So now - on to my next challenge!
