Your Beautiful Self - An Easy Watercolor Card

Only 2 days left to get the stamps from the Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog!  I saw something similar a few weeks ago using a frame stamp with an image in the center of the frame.   I wanted to recreate it but I could not find the original card I had seen.  Here is my take on that card - from what I can remember seeing!

First I painted a wash of pink watercolor paint onto the watercolor paper.  Once it was dry, I stamped a frame image to fill in all the space on the card.   The frame is from the Live, Laugh, Love stamp (C1636).  Next I stamped butterflies from the Your Beautiful Self stamp (B1516).  Both of these stamps and the silver butterflies from Playful Puffies (Z3205) will retire after April 30!

A Reunion in Virginia

Wall Art - Created by Jaime Llewellyn
I just returned from my annual Spa Girls Reunion in Virginia.  This was our 3rd year to get together for a weekend of collaboration, creating and just pure fun and relaxation.   Close To My Heart brought us together 6 years ago and we have been getting together every year since that 1st wonderful weekend at the Spa Retreat we each won.  At first, our reunions were at a lunch during the Annual CTMH convention. We quickly realized that a lunch date at convention was definitely not enough time to catch up with everyone.  So, three years ago we planned our 1st weekend reunion at Jaime Llewellyn's house in Virginia.  Jaime has been the gracious hostess every year since.  When you have the perfect scrapbook work area - how can you NOT be the hostess!

You can see we were quite spread out with our supplies!  We created the night away going to bed each night at 1:30 am.  It seemed like we always got a 2nd wind around 10 pm and no one was ready to stop.  So we just kept going until our eyes started to glaze over.   We did sleep in each morning but we started the day with a brisk 3 mile walk on this Virginia road.... with some side steps into a couple of small subdivisions to get us off  this busier road.  It may LOOK deserted but cars FLY down this road.

The walk would get our creative juices flowing and we would discuss business and teams and dreams.  After the walk, a quick breakfast and shower we were back at it stopping only for a quick lunch and once more for dinner.

Traditions get started and some things never change.... like our trip to to Jimer's the famous frozen custard stand in Amelia........  a MUST HAVE.

and our traditional group photo in our CTMH Spa Girls shirts......

Shannon was unable to come this year so we skyped with her and set the phone in her spot for our annual photo.

It was a great weekend,  I will always cherish this friendship that only Close To My Heart could have made happen.  If not for those 8 names randomly drawn in 2010 we would never have met and formed the close to bond that we all share today.

I can't wait to meet up again in June for our annual CTMH Convention.
So until then.....
These SPA GIRLS say Keep On Creating!!

Kiss it Better

Kiss It Better was one of the first stamps I put on my wish list when I got the Seasonal Expressions 1 book.  I can't believe that today is the first time I've used it!  I've been wanting to use it for a while but it seemed to get pushed down on my 'to do' list every time I got in my craft room.   I was really happy with how this turned out!

I used a mix of two different papers on this card.  Can you guess which ones?  The stripe is a piece from Penelope and the red with the little bows is from Regatta.  They compliment each other perfectly.  I cut the band aid image from Cashmere cardstock with the Artisty cricut cartridge and then I stamped it in Cashmere ink.  I used the masking technique to stamp the sentiment in Cashmere and Ruby.   The hemp twine ties it all together.

Kiss it Better - B1508

This stamp set along with Penelope and Regatta papers will retire at the end of April!  Order it before it is gone for good!    I'm so glad I have this stamp in my stash!  I'll be adding this card to my card buffet!

Hello Life Flip Stand - A Girl's Night Event in April!

Finally!  I'm back with a new Girl's Night Out Event!  This event features Close To My Hearts Design Decor Flip Stand and the Love Your Selfie Picture My Life Cards!

This project would be a perfect gift for a graduating senior!  Fill it will their favorite photographs. My youngest daughter will be graduating college in May so I added some special photos of her and her best friends and her fiance'.  I still need to add a couple more pictures to complete it.  Below is a picture of 5 additional pages we will create.  Not shown are some added 4x6 journaling cards from the Love Your Selfie PML cards.  I punched holes into the card and added them to the rings.  She will be able write some of her favorite memories and most special moments on the added cards.

The last page of the album is slipped inside the acrylic back (see picture below).   You can see that the pages of the flip stand album are shorter so that "happiness is >>>>" will always show no matter what page you are on!  I had so much fun re-purposing the Picture My Life cards for this project. There will be plenty of cards left over so I'm including 2 pocket page memory protectors so you can add them to your favorite scrapbooking album!

If you are local to me and want to attend this workshop here are the details!

Date:  Friday, April 29
Time:  6:30 pm
Place:  My House
Cost:  $25

Why I Became a Close To My Heart Consultant - Blog Hop

Welcome to a very special blog hop!  The month of April brings us a BRAND new consultant kit that is at a new lower price!  To celebrate, Close To My Heart is also rewarding new consultants that sign up in April and submit $350 in sales in their first 30 days with a choice of any of Close To My Heart's Cricut collections or $100 in SPC.  Now, that is an awesome way to get your business started!

The SOTM blog hoppers are bringing you a special hop this month.  We wanted to share with you our WHY.  We all became part of a Close To My Heart for many different reasons. We all have different backgrounds and interests, but one thing we all have in common is our love for  being a Close To My Heart consultant!

So sit back and read our stories and find out what inspired us, what brought us to Close To My Heart and why we are still here today.   Like our other hops, this hop is one big circle.  If you came from Tammy Lubick's blog you are on the right track!  When you get back to me or wherever you began, you will know you have completed the hop.  Enjoy the artwork but be sure to read the testimonials!

So.... what brought me to Close To My Heart?
It all began with a class I had attended at a scrapbooking convention many years ago that was taught by Tina Sutton a CTMH consultant.   It was my very first exposure to CTMH.  I had not heard of it until that day.   But that day a tiny seed was planted to be cultivated later.   It was about 6 months later, when I was looking at a Close To My Heart Idea book that the seed began to sprout.   My husband was leaving his job to start his own business.   We needed to cut back on some things to save money and guess which 'thing' was in my category to cut back on!  Scrapbooking supplies!!   So, what if I signed up to be a consultant so I could get a discount?  Maybe I could sell to my friends to make a little bit of money so I could not only save on what I bought - but to PAY for what I bought!  Sounded like a plan to me!  I discussed it my husband and he said "Go For It! But remember - you get out of it what you put into it".  Yes..... I know that.... I'd give it a year and see how it went.

These flowers were stamped with Hollyhock ink using
1st and 2nd Generation stamping
I remember getting my new consultant kit.   It was like Christmas to me!  Included with my kit were two ink pad colors - Topiary and Hollyhock.  WOW.... I just kept stamping with these over and over and showing my friends exclaiming - Aren't these the most beautiful colors you have ever seen?? These colors will be forever favorites in my book.   So - in honor of those two colors I've created some art work to share in this blog post using the two colors that came in my new consultant kit!

Fast Forward 10 YEARS LATER.... This past February, I celebrated my 10 year Anniversary as a Close To My Heart Consultant!   I would never have guessed that 10 years later I would still be here today.  My life has been blessed by the many new friends that Close To My Heart brought to me..... customers and other consultants.  I definitely got WAY more than a discount when I joined and I would not trade that for anything!

If you want to talk to me more about joining my team and becoming a Close To My Heart Consultant contact me today!  I would love to share this wonderful opportunity with you!

Now it is time to visit Jen Rubio's blog and read her story!

April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - Life In Pictures

Welcome to the April Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring Life In Pictures. This is a fun set of 13 stamps! If you have come here from Lauren Moore's Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE.

This is a fun stamp!!  I love all of the different types of cameras.  This month I created a one page layout.  My daughter when to Cuba this past January on a study abroad trip.  This stamp was a great way to accent some of the many snapshots they took while on the trip.

I used a piece of paper from the Urban Paper pack for my layout.  To keep a 'vintage look' for the cameras, I stamped them on Whisper cardstock with Saffron, Saddle, Slate and Peacock inks.

Remember!  You can purchase this Life In Pictures stamp set for just $5 with a $50 purchase!

Now it is time to check out all the other fun things created with this adorable stamp!   Hop over to Jennifer Dykstra's blog to see what she has for you!
