Big Hug

Wow.... here it is Tuesday night and I haven't posted since last Friday!  Alot has been happening and I haven't had much time in my scrap room.   I might have mentioned in a post earlier in the year that I was making some changes in the way we eat.  I've been shopping differently, cooking differently and really paying attention to what is actually IN the things I'm buying.  I haven't purchased a loaf of bread since December!!  I can't tell you the last time I opened a tub of butter  - nothing to put the butter on!  It's been a good change so far and I'm finding so many things that I didn't realize I liked! On Valentine's Day my husband and I went to Academy Sports and outfitted ourselves with new workout clothes and we joined a local gym the next day.  I'm loving it!  On the days that I can't go with Jeff, I can go with my girls. (I've learned I can't keep up with them though and I need to go my own pace!).   So, while I'm...

Fun with Chevrons

Image
Oh boy, what a week I've had.  We've been going through our Fiscal Year End at work so I've been working long (VERY long) hours this past week.   I would leave the house before my hubby even stirred in bed and came home long after he'd already gone BACK to bed.  My dog missed me so much that in the morning he'd come hang out in the bathroom with me as I got ready for another long day at work.  We finished up Friday night and I was anxious to get back in my 'Little Corner of Stampinheaven' to play. Even though I knew I wouldn't be able to create until today, I still checked out my favorite blog challenges everyday.   So today, I revisited a few that I wanted to participate in. Today, I created a card that I could enter into three of my favorite challenges - Unscripted Sketches (sketch), CAS-ual Fridays (Chevron and Flowers) and Dynamic Duos (colors). The colors I used for this card are Close To My Heart's color Juniper and Ruby.  I love the...

Stitching a "A Note for You..."

Image
I've been working all weekend on my artwork submission application to teach at convention this year.  I taught last year and it was a wonderful experience.  Not sure I could be so lucky to get picked two times in a row but it would be great if I did!  I've finished my artwork, now I just need to pack it up and get it shipped.  I'll be sharing those things a little later. When I finished today I wanted to make a quick card for a couple of challenges.   Sometimes I get so caught up in new product that I don't have to time to go back and use some of my old favorite stamp sets.  Today, I did!  I pulled out one of my all time favorite sets and it's still available today! I used the sketch #17 from CASe this Sketch and colors from Dynamic Duos for this card. The colors are Close To My Heart colors of Topiary and Honey .  My stamp is Just For You (B1398) . I used <Flower 3> on the Art Philosophy Cricut to cut the matching stamp. ...

Sneak Peek - For Always

Image
Here is another sneak peek at a new paper pack in the Spring Summer Idea Book! This paper is called For Always (X7165) . The 6 different patterns are all black and white.  This paper looks great with pops of colors.  I used Ruby for my pop of color on this card based on the colors in the Dynamic Duos Color Challenge.   I based my card on the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketches . No stamping on this card!  I used the Artiste Cricut Cartridge (Z1790) to cut my shapes - even the tulip shape flower with the flourishes.  The Black Tulle Ribbon (Z1798) creates the bow pulled together by a button from the new Black Assortment (Z1821) .  I used bitty black sparkles from the Black and Grey Sparkles (Z1754) on the tulip.   I decided not to add a sentiment to the card.  I think it might have gotten lost in the pattern!  But, I really like the way this card came together. Here is the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketches along with the Dynamic ...

Cozy Mittens Christmas Card

Image
Here is Card #2 from my weekend of Christmas Cards. The paper is from the now retired Believe Paper pack.  The mittens were cut using the Noel <Accent 2> key on the Artiste Cricut Cartridge (Z1790).  I used the Noel <Accent 2> Shift key to cut the layer for the mittens.  Our Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel  (Z1313) adds just enough sparkle.  Stardust is my favorite of all the Glitz Glitter Gels. I'm entering this card into the Dynamic Duo's Challenge .                                                         Get your favorites before they are gone! Check out the Retired Items tab (HERE) for products that will retire after January 31st! Join my Mystery Hostess Party going on now through December 30th for a chance to win $20 in FREE products.  For every $25 you order (before tax and shipping) your n...

Happy Holidays with Silver Embossing

Image
Today's quick card features Silver Embossing!  I made this card in quick time using Merry Monday's sketch and colors from Dynamic Duo .   When I saw the colors for Dynamic Duo after checking out the Merry Monday sketch, I knew this was a match in Winter Wonderland.                                         I used Close To My Heart colors of Whisper and Cranberry cardstock for my card.  The sentiment and snowflakes are from Perfect Fit - Holidays (B1412) .  They were stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  The ribbon is Slate Satin Polka Dot Ribbon (Z1802) .   My flourish is the last little bit of   Sparkles Flourishes (Z1708) that I still had left.  (NOTE TO SELF - Order more Sparkle Flourishes!)  Then I added sparkles from the Sparkles Clear Assortment (Z1752) to the ribbon. The Perfect Fit - Holidays...

Dynamic Duo

Close To My Heart's Dotty For You special is winding down!  There are only 10 days left to take advantage of this awesome deal!  I will be sharing more cards this week using this fabulous $5 pack of paper!  (More details on this pack at the end of this post!) I love it when I discover new blog challenges that excite me!  Two that I recently discovered are the new Dynamic Duo Challenge blog and The Paper Players .  Each week Dynamic Duos features two colors to use in a card, layout or other project.   I LOVE the colors for this week.   It's called Black Tie and they used Black and a yellow.                                          Over at the Paper Players the challenge is to create something with Polka Dots!  Here is a card I created that works for both of these challenges. I pulled out my Fashionista (D1504) stamp set that I have ...

Happy Mother's Day!

Image
Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers! I am so thankful for my mom.  She has always been there for me.  She supports everything I do and always encourages me when I'm down. I made a special Mother's Day card for my mom.   She loves to work in her yard (which is BEAUTIFUL BTW) and she loves birds.  I thought that the colors of Buttercup and Juniper, along with the bird made the perfect card for my mom. I used dotted Buttercup paper from the special Dotty For You paper pack.  (This special ends May 31st!)  The bird and vine were cut with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.   I stamped "Happy" with the Polka Dot Alphabet (D1469) and "Mother's Day" is from a retired set.  The Polka Dot Alphabet stamp is perfect with the dotted paper! I added two resin flowers from the Bouquet Assortment (Z1694). I used the sketch from the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge (#59) and the colors were inspired by a brand new blog challenge - Dynamic Duos ....
