We have over 50 consultants participating in the blog. Following the hop is easy- just click on the link at the bottom of each post and it will take you to the next blog! This set was immediately one of my favorites when I first got my Autumn Winter Idea Book.  I've been so busy that I never had a chance to work with it until now.   I just love all the different lanterns.  I created three different cards using the Laughing Lola (X7170B) paper pack. For this card I wanted to give the impression that the lights were hanging from a wire so I tied little knots where each lamp is hanging in ...

March Stamp of the Month - Floral Happiness

Image
WOW!  This month just FLEW by!  Or maybe it's because February is short a couple of days.  Anyway, here we are with another brand new Stamp of the Month!  This month the Stamp of the Month Blog Hoppers are showcasing Floral Happiness.  The stamp is a great Base and Shape set that includes 16 stamps! If you have come here from Michelle John's blog you are on the right track! This hop is a big circle so if you are just starting, when you go all the way through and get back to me, you have completed the circle!   I've got 3 cards to share with you today.   The first card I created with a bit of Later Sk8r paper to show you that this paper doesn't have to be ALL BOY!! I used a sketch from Jeanette's How To Book- Originals (9036) . (Now Available in Soft Cover for $14.95!) For this card I used Slate Cardstock as my base.  I scuffed it up a bit with some sanding to blend with the 'rough' look of the  Later Sk8r paper (X7167B) ...

A Ribbon of Many Colors - Seam Binding Ribbon

Image
One of my MOST Favorite new products in Close To My Heart's new Spring Summer Idea Book is the Color Ready Seam Binding Ribbon (Z1732) .  Have you ever been working on a layout or card and you don't have just the right color of  ribbon you need for that added pizzazz?  Now all you need is this one roll and you can have every color you ever wanted! Once I got this new ribbon, I have been planning my projects around the ribbon just so I can color the ribbon! I love it!  You can color the ribbon with a spray mister (a cool effect) or dye it in re-inker. But the easiest and fastest drying method for coloring the ribbon is just sponging the color on with a sponge and ink pad.  I'm a quick project gal so I choose the sponge and ink pad method.  Watch this quick video below to see how I inked my ribbon and made a twisted flower with it!    Then scroll on down for a closer view of the card I made! After I made this video, I dis...

Sneak Peak #3 - Just a Note

Image
Here is another little sneak peak of new product!   I made this fast and simple 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" card  with the new Lucy Level 2 Paper Pack (X7149B).  I have to admit, the Lucy paper was not at the top of my list for the 8 new paper packs but when I got pack I had to change my mind!  It is so pretty!  This shows only one of 6 beautiful designs included in the pack. The stamp is from the new set - Card Word Puzzle (C1494) .  I love this set!  It has 4 different flower stamps (I used two here), a butterfly, a leaf and over 50 words that you can put together to make your own original phrase!  I used "Just A Note" for this card.   I used blending pen with Cotton Candy and Pear ink to color my flower.  I added the Sweet Leaf Stitched Grosgrain ribbon and Pearl Opaque Adhesive Gems.    The card pattern is Corner Shop from Jeanette Lynton's How To Book for cards - Originals . I'm going to enter this card into 2 challenges...

Color Throwdown for Christmas Cheer

Image
Looking for the December Stamp of the Month?  You can get right to it  HERE . It's been a long time since I've colored with markers.   Lately when I've been coloring my images I've used the blending pen with ink, or watercolor pencils.   When I saw the colors in the Color Throwdown Challenge this time I just knew I had to use my Close To My Heart Markers.  So I stamped some images and set to coloring!   Aren't these great colors?   Would you think of Christmas for these colors?  I did!  I used Close to My Heart colors Outdoor Denim, Olive, Cranberry and Honey.   I had fun with this 6x6 card.   The stamp set is Christmas Cheer (D1491) which is perfect for coloring.  I added some Red Glitz Glitter Gel for a little accent under the Merry Christmas.   I also scissor distressed the edges of each cardstock piece to bring out the white core.  I used "One the...

Live Laugh Love - A Fashion Inspiration

Image
I LOVE green.  For as long as I can remember, my favorite color has always been green.  So when I saw the Fashion Inspiration over at Moxie Fab, I couldn't wait to play with it.  This week it is all about being inspired by objects around us!   The Fashion Inspiration picture is a green houndstooth jacket adorned by what looks to be a pewter broach.   So how did I interpret this picture? I like the houndstooth print and I think that Close To My Heart's Elemental (X7141B)  paper was just perfect for my card.  I used one of Jeanette Lynton's sketches for this 5x7 card from the How To Book - Originals (9032) .  The sketch is Mosaic Borders .  The broach on the jacket above inspired me to add pewter accents to my card so I used the small pewter buttons from the Mini Medley Accents - Pewter Collection (Z1487) .  I pulled a piece of hemp through all three buttons and left the ends free.  The sentiment is from the Love Life stamp ...

Unscripted with H2H

Image
This week's challenge over at Heart 2 Heart is to create a card using only cardstock.  I've been using a lot of Goldrush lately and wanted to change it up a little.  So I chose the colors of Honey, Olive and Desert Sand.  Three of my favorite fall colors.   The other night I pulled out a new stamp - Unscripted  (C1465) and used it for a CAS 4x4 Card (See it HERE ).  I really wanted to use this stamp again.   The pattern I envisioned on my card actually came out the way I wanted!  The pattern for my card is the sketch  " Upright" from Originals . Each colonial white square is 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 but before I cut each square, I cut one piece 7 x 1 3/4 and stamped it.  Then I cut it into the four squares.  The ribbon is from the Honey Mini Medley Accents and I adorned it with Pearl Adhesive Gems. Recipe: Originals - Upright Colonial White CS (for card Base) Cardstock: Desert Sand, Olive, Honey Stamp: Unscripted...

Texting for CAS-ual Fridays!

Image
Here's another exciting brand new challenge blog!   It's called CAS-ual Fridays.   The "CAS" is for "Clean and Simple".  This one looks fun so I will be checking it out each week.   This past Friday was their very first Challenge and it was all about TEXTING!                                      For this challenge we can use stamps, texty pattern paper, or anything to get creative.  They were looking for text, not just a simple sentiment.  I had a great stampset for this.  Last year I purchased a stampset called My Game (D1433).  My daughter plays softball and this set has 24 different sentiments that is just perfect for any sport.   I decided to make a card for my daughter's softball coach.  I used nearly all the sentiments lining them up on a 4 x 6 block.  Some were vertical and some were horizontal.   Then I stamped the entire ...

Play Date Cafe - Precious Moments

Image
I LOVE the colors at Play Date Cafe this week!  I couldn't wait to create something with them.  Here are the Play Date colors:                                        I wanted to do something a little different with this card.  I have lots of irresistible chip board die cuts and I forget to use them.  I love how these look when you add ink to them.   I chose to use a simple pattern for a small card from Originals .   The Pattern is called Little Squares.   The square in the middle is cut out and the sentiment on the inside shows through the front of the card.    Here is my card: Recipe: Originals (9032) White Daisy Cardstock (1385) Honey Cardstock (X5668) Smoothie Ink (Z2196) Irresistibles Villa ChipboardDie-Cuts (Z1390) White Organdy Ribbon Stamp - Unity (C1422) Sponge (Z697) All products are Close To My Heart I've got 2 m...

Back from Petticoat Junction!

Image
I just returned from my weekend retreat at Petticoat Junction on Sunday and we had a BLAST!  The weather was wonderful (no blizzard to deal with this year) and the food was delightful (as always!).    The weekend flew by so fast and it was hard to believe that it was time to pack up and get back to our busy lives.  I think I accomplished nearly everything I planned to. I completed the layouts from 4 of the WOTG kits - Sweetheart, Fanfare, Miracle and Mayberry along with cards from the kits.   I'll be sharing those in the near future.   I think the most pages completed by one of the retreaters was a whopping 52!!! WOW!!! Way to go Sue!   This year I wanted to do something fun with the ladies so I had a little card challenge.    I provided four card patterns from Jeanette Lynton's How To books - Wishes and Originals and also Close To My Heart paper samples from the past several years.    The ladies were to choose a car...
