August Stamp of the Month - What a Hoot

Image
Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring What A Hoot , a set of 17 stamps. If you have come here from Maureen O'Sullivan's Blog you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's HERE . This set is just adorable and I think kids young and old will have fun playing with this 'dress-up' owl!  For my card I decided to use a technique that I haven't done in a while.  Actually, I used the spray pen technique with a challenge I participated in a few weeks ago and I had so much fun I wanted to do it again!  This card and technique will be my next Technique Tuesday class this month! (See my Upcoming Events tab for those details) Here's my card! I stamped the owl on our new Scardy Cat paper and the wings and face were stamped onto the new color - Thistle Cardstock...

Surf's Up Picture My Life with Heart To Heart

Image
This is my last week as a Guest Designer with Heart 2 Heart .   It's been fun and I hope you have had fun playing along with their challenges!  This week's challenge is to create a project with Close to My Heart's Picture My Life.   I created a Vacation Mini Album using the Surf's Up Picture My Life Kit and the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge.   This is the project we will be doing this week at my Monthly Girl's Night Out Event. Creating the album was really easy using the PML cards!  I just chose several 4x6 cards and added 3 additional pages I created from the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge.   I also used the 3x4 cards to accent several of the pages.  The pages shown below along with the album cover were created using the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge. Recipe: Surf's Up Picture My Life Juniper Carstock Buttercup Cardstock Sorbet Cardstock Cashmere Cardstock Desert Sand Cardstock Stamp - Sightseer (C1534) Burlap Ribbon Artbook...

Sneak Peek - A Confetti Wishes Birthday

Image
Today I'm sharing a card I made using the new Confetti Wishes paper from Close To My Heart Annual Inspirations book along with a few other new products that will be released in August.   This paper is so much fun!! My great uncle turns 90 next week and his family is throwing a big party!  When I say '90' don't you dare think wheelchairs, nursing homes and canes!   He still lives at home, travels... ALOT and even has a cabin that he and his sons have been rebuilding up in Canada.  He is a World War II vet and always has lots of stories to share.  When people talk about favorite uncles, my Great Uncle Ed always come to mind.  I wish I could join in the party this weekend but I had other obligations already on my calendar.  So, I created this fun card to send him Birthday Wishes. The printed paper is from the new Confetti Wishes paper.  Using the Artbooking cartridge, I cut the cupcake base from our new  Canary Cardstock and ...

Some Like It Hot with H2H

Image
This week's challenge over at Heart 2 Heart is 'Some Like It Hot'.  I thought about creating a summer time card but as I was going through my stamps, I came across this cute little set that I had never used before.  I've been creating lots of cards lately with retired papers for an upcoming Girl's Night Out Event in August.   I just kept coming back this to stamp so I decided to create a card with it for my event. The stamp set is called Cup of Cheer (B1404) .  The B&T paper I used was from the Elementals paper pack from a few years ago.  I paired it Indian Corn Blue and Cocoa.   I used retired ribbon (Cocoa Grosgrain) and a sorbet brad from my stash. Come on over and join us at H2H this week!

Something Spicy for Heart 2 Heart

This week at Heart 2 Heart the challenge is titled The Spice of Life.   I decided to create a card that reminded me of spicy colors.  I used Cocoa, Ruby, Honey and Autumn Terracotta for my colors on this card.  I used two different embossing folders - Chevron and Stripes and had the stripes going in different directions to make it interesting. Recipe: Cocoa Cardstock - X5642 Ruby Cardstock - X5927 Honey Cardstock - X5668 Autumn Terracotta Cardstock - X1720 Rosewood Mii Medley - Z1857 Neutral Metallic Baker's Twine - Z1921 Ruby Exclusive Ink - Z2104 Stamps:   All the Details - D1555   True to Life - C1575

A Big Hug for Freshly Made

Image
A dear friend lost her pet the other day.   He had lived a long and happy life but no matter what the circumstances, it is still very hard when you loose a pet that has been a part of your family for years. Time will ease her pain but until then, she just needs a big hug.   I made this card for her using the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and my new ShinHan Touch Twin markers that I received in my new product bundles from Close To My Heart. The base of the card is one of the pieces from the Fundamentals Basic Assortment pack (Z1939). This fun cardstock is an assortment of 20 double-sided 12” x 12” paper sheets (2 each of 10 designs) featuring the same design on both sides, with one side featuring a glossy-resist version of the design The other 2 pieces of cardstock are from the Free To Be Me paper pack that was the special back in May. (here's a little secret..... we'll be adding assortment packs in ALL of the colors beginning in August!) The flower and butt...

Up Up and Away with Heart 2 Heart!

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great July 4th weekend!  Today its back to routine and work.  BOOO.... but maybe this card will lift your spirits about the workweek ahead. I created this card for the H2H Challenge in which I'm a Guest Designer for this month!   The focus of this week's challenge is to create something that is up in the air such as a plane, helicopter, hot air balloon, butterfly, bird, etc. For my card I used sketch #83 from Case This Sketch with Close To My Heart's Balloon Ride paper. How appropriate, right?   I pulled out my Lifting Spirits stamp set and paper pieced the hot air balloon using different patterns of paper from the Balloon Ride Kit. Guest Designer on Heart 2 Heart

Image
If you are looking for the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop - you can find it HERE Wow! I'm really honored to be chosen as July's Guest Design on the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog! This month, each week,  I will be sharing artwork create for their weekly challenge. During the 1st week of each month H2H will post an exclusive scrapbook challenge.  For July the scrapbook challenge is a color combo: Red & White Daisy with the option of Blue!  The layout must also have some sparkle AND sewing (real or faux) too! I pulled out my spray mist pens that I had forgotten about and had some fun!   For my layout I used the Artbooking Overlay from "Celebration" but instead of putting the overlay on my layout, I used it as a template for my spray mist!  I mixed Cranberry re-inker with water for my red and I sprayed until I had a good coverage for the stars.    I removed the overlay and mixed Indian Corn Blue re-inker with water to give my layout a splash of ...
