A Mother's Day Card

Image
Mother's Day is just around the corner.  I'm a little behind on getting my cards made but I have finished one!  I'm sharing this one today.  I couldn't wait to get the "Mother's Day" stamp when it was first released in Close To My Heart's Spring Summer Idea Book.  I actually started this card over a week ago and after playing around with ideas for a while I had to set it aside.  One of those lack of mojo days I guess.  But I came back to it last weekend and began to put it together.  I love using silhouette stamps. There is an elegance about them that really appeals to me.  I'm not sure I did this one justice but I do like the way the card turned out. I used some paper from the Skylark  (X7177B) paper pack.  For my Mother's Day sentiment I cut a shape from the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and stamped the frame with one of the frames from the set - Frame Flair (D1546).   I used sparkles from the Sparkles Clear Assort...

Congrats to My Nephew!

Wow.... my blogging has been a little lagging lately.  I haven't spent much time in my craft room lately - mainly due to 2 reasons..  1) Lack of mojo... 2) I've been spending more time at the gym!  Maybe reason #2 is the REASON for #1.   I set a weight goal to reach by June (actually by our next Close To My Heart Convention) and so that it isn't overwhelming, I set a MONTHLY goal. I'm happy to say, I'm on track to reach my goal for March.  When I get home I have all good intentions for getting some craft on but by the time I've showered and grabbed a bite of HEALTHY dinner, I seem to have trouble finding my mojo! Well, this weekend I was inspired by some exciting new from my sister. My nephew, a senior at Louisville Ballard HS won several rewards for a Science Fair project he's been working on for quite some time.  He told us all about his project when they were here at Thanksgiving.   His project involves the use of Virtual Reality to train the mind...

Owl You Need it Love..... Lollydoodle Layout

Image
A few weeks ago I shared an Artbooking layout I created using the new Lollydoodle paper and some of the coordinating stickease. If you missed it, you can see that layout HERE .  I had several pieces of stickease left so I created another layout using paper I had left from the Lollydoodle Workshop On The Go kit.  I wanted to share that layout today.  This is one of the Layouts that my Hostess Clubs will create. This layout sketch is adapted from the Make It From You Heart Vol. 2 -  Sketch # 2.  I used the FIT TO PAGE key to cut the large flower using the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.     I fell in love with these Lollydoodle owls!  I used nearly all the stickease I had left and added lots of Pink Flamingo Dot accents around the page.  One of my very favorite CTMH go to items is our Foam Tape (Z1151).  I used alot of it to pop up the various pieces of stickease.   It really adds dimension and looks great when y...

Pink Glitter Hearts.....

Image
Happy Valentines Day! I don't make alot of Valentine cards but I have some new Pink Glitter paper from Close To My Heart that I thought would make a pretty Valentines Card!   Oh yeah and have I mentioned my new embossing folders?   You bet!  I had to incorporate that into my card too! Freshly Made Sketches had the perfect sketch! The Pink Glitter paper comes in 3 different shades of pink.  I used two of them here.  I cut the hearts on my Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge at 1" and 3/4".  I stamped the sentiment in Slate Ink. The sentiment is from the Valentine's themed stamp that was our National Papercrafting Month Special in 2013.  It's a cute little stamp and I just had to hang onto it!    The twine is from the Ruby Mini Medley Accent collection.  I love the silver thread that runs through it! Here are the Close To My Heart Products I used: Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge - Z1686 I'm entering this c...

Why it's Great to be 19

Image
Today is my daughter's birthday.   She told me the other that day that there just wasn't anything good about 19.   I asked her what she meant by that.   She said "19" is boring.   There is just nothing exciting about being 19.   She said when you turn 13 you are finally a "teen".  When you turn 16 that's exciting because now you get to drive.   When you turn 18, you are legally an adult.  When you turn 21, you are of legal age.  But when you turn 19, what is exciting about that? So in honor of Kayli's 19th Birthday, I'm going to give her a list of 10 reasons why it is great to be 19! 1. This is your last year to be considered a "TEENAGER". 2.  It is socially acceptable to still be living at home. 3. If you flipped the number "19" around, you'd be "61".  'nuff said about that. 4. You still have 6 more years to go before being kicked off your parents Insurance. 5.  You survived High School. 6...

Sneak Peek - Babycakes!

Image
Woo hoo!  Just 5 more days until my Open House!  I have so much to share.  I hope you can stop by if you are local to me.  There is so much to see.   Today I'm sharing another sneak peek of one of our new paper packs - Babycakes (X7173B) .   This paper is adorable!  But immediately I could see more than just baby themes for this paper.   I created a few cards with this month's Stamp of the Month - A Chocolate Affair with this paper. (See one card HERE )  I'll share my other cards soon. For this card I did stick to a baby theme.  I was excited to use a new baby stamp set with this paper. Occasionally I need to make a card for a baby shower or gift but I just didn't have many stamps to choose from when I needed them.   Now I have another cute one! The stamp set is called " B is for Baby " (D1561) .  It's a set of 9 adorable stamps.  Two of the images coordinate with the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge (Z1686) ...

Thinking of You in Colors For Spring!

Image
Boy does my little corner of StampinHeaven miss me!  Luckily I've got a few cards in my stash I haven't shared, so although I've been sitting at softball fields and NOT in my craft room I still have a few things to share so my poor little blog is so lonely. Here is a card I created a while back.  I was inspired by this sketch from Paper Trey Ink -                                                         My card didn't quite come out with the angle I intended like the sketch above.  When I saw the sketch I knew immediately that I wanted to use our new Chantilly textiles (Z1819) and the Hollyhock Zipper Lace (Z1826) .  I used Chantilly paper (X7163B) for this card because it reminds me of Spring! (Which I wish would come SOON!).     To create my layers I cut the fabric in 1/2" strips.  Then ...

Thanks So Very Much

Image
It's been almost another whole week and nothing new from my little corner of StampinHeaven.  I tell you, that little corner has been lonely lately.   I sat at a ball tournament all weekend and into the wee hours of the morning on Sunday.  After six games on Saturday the girls got 2nd place in the Championship Game.  It was a long long day and I had no motivation on Sunday to do much. I did eventually find my way into the room though.  I needed to make a card for an upcoming gathering I'm doing on Sunday for a friend.  I prefer to call it a mini-workshop though, as no one really likes to go to parties much anymore.   When I design a card for a gathering such as this, I try to   think of my audience.  Are they seasoned crafters, new to the stamping world or just dabblers here and there.  I wanted to design something that wasn't too labor intensive and scare off potential crafters but yet detailed enough to inspire even a seasoned crafter...
