When I sat down last weekend to start working on a couple of graduation cards and Mother's Day cards, I was rummaging through my Skylark paper pack and pulled out a card I had started but never finished!  I decided to use the Mother's Day and the Frame Flair stamps that I had used on the card I shared yesterday.  See it HERE . Lots of Chevrons!

Image
Chevrons are everywhere these days.  I took a break from Christmas Cards on Sunday to create this Birthday card full of chevrons when I saw the sketch from Friday Mashup .  I chose to go mostly black and white with just a splash of aqua dots on my card.  I used a variety of stamps on my card: Holiday Tags (D1560) for the Happy Birthday.  The frame was cut with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge. One Way Borders (C1561) for the chevron border Artiste Cricut Collection - (Z1790) for the pinwheel Other items used: For Always Paper - X7165B Black Cardstock - 1386 White Cardstock - 1385 Black Baker's Twine - Baker's Twine Neutral Assortment - Z1701 Aqua Dots - Z1853 Black Ink - Z2105            Holiday Tags One Way Borders Friday Mashup Sketch       I'm also entering this card into Crazy 4 Challenges - Use Black & White with a Splash of color.

Banner Wishes with Charming Chevrons

Image
Have you had a chance to check out the Holiday Gift Guide from Close To My Heart?  There is more in the guide than just Christmas items!  A few non Christmas items I fell in love are two very cute stamp sets - Banner Wishes and Charming Chevrons. Today has turned cold and dreary which goes right along with this very bad cold I caught!  I left work early and came home to sleep which did do some good.  This afternoon I made this bright cheery birthday card to chase those yucky blues away. I used Cotton Candy, Whisper, Pear and Honey Inks.  The sparkles around the chevrons are from the Sparkles Chevron Shapes (Z1909) .  They fit perfectly to the Charming Chevrons (A1150) . Banner Wishes (B1438)  completes my card with a few scattered Bitty Sparkles (Z1263) . Shop now from the Holiday Gift Guide!  When you spend $100 (from either the Autumn/Winter Idea book or the Holiday Gift Guide) you can choose a selected starred item from the Gift G...

Using Stickease for Cards

Image
Edited to Add the first card to the Moxie Fab's Stickers and Tape Challenge! With each new Close To My Heart paper pack there is always a coordinating Stickease or Compliments.  These help to create very fast and easy layouts with no stamping that are just as beautiful as the Level 3 layouts (layouts that include stamping). Huntington Stickease X7174C I love our stickease and compliments and many times I will use them for things other than layouts! They are great for creating beautiful cards in snap! I've been working with the Huntington (X7174B) paper pack this weekend getting my layouts ready for my monthly Hostess Clubs.  I always thought that the coordinating stickease for Huntington would make some beautiful cards.   So, when I finished my layouts I created a couple of cards! Christmas Wishes Display Tray

Image
This Christmas display tray has been on my "To Do" list for about a month now.  I've just had so many other things that needed to be done first.  I thought this would be something that would take me a while to create but actually, I put it all together in just two hours.  I have to admit, I was watching The Time Traveler's Wife while I was working on this tray, so I was distracted at times. The "Dimensional Elements - In Color Holiday" (X1772) made this tray so easy to put together.  These are printed, layered chipboard with rhinestone accents.  PLUS, the really great thing - they are adhesive backed!!  The look great with the Pear & Partridge paper that I used for the background. I added a few accents of my own that I had on hand and also the Artiste Cricut Cartridge to create my flowers in the bottom section and the red bow on the top row.  A list of all the products used are at the end of this post.  Here are some close up pictu...

A Birthday Wish for You!

Image
There were 3 designs from the Dotty For You paper pack that I haven't had a chance to use yet.  On Sunday. I pulled one of those designs to make this card.  I love the design on this paper because it is from one of my favorite stamp sets - Card Word Puzzle (C1494).  The papers in the Dotty For You pack were hand designed by Close To My Heart's artists.  This particular piece was designed using the flower from the Card Word Puzzle stamp.   I used the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge sketch for this card! The only stamping I did on this card was the sentiment! The  Card Word Puzzle  stamp has a variety of words  that you can put together create your own personal sentiment.   I sponged Lagoon ink onto the  Color Ready Seam Binding  Ribbon (Z1732)  so that it would perfectly match my card!   Since this is a Birthday card I'm entering it into Crazy 4 Challenges this week.  They are looking for Birthday Cards...

A "Grinchy" Christmas Card

Image
There are so many Christmas movies that I love to watch year after year but I think there is only one that brings back Christmas memories each time.    Would you believe that would be the Grinch Who Stole Christmas ?!     You must wonder why THAT movie?  Well, when my husband and I were getting ready for our first Christmas together (over 25 years ago) we got our very first tree.   I remember making felt ornaments (stitched them together by hand!) because we didn't have ornaments for our tree - we actually didn't have ANY decorations.  The night we were ready to set up the tree and decorate, we turned the TV on and the old animated version of The Grinch came on.  Every year after that, when we set up our tree and began to decorate, like clockwork - The Grinch was on TV!  So - it is tradition.  Now we watch the movie - The Grinch.  It has become an all time favorite in our house! So if it's not running on TV when we decorate - we'll ...

Black, White and SPARKLE!

Image
With only a few days left in our Holiday Wishes stamp special, I wanted to share another card I made using the tree from this set.  The challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges this week was to use Black, White and WOW !   So my WOW color is red.   I'm not used to using Black and White for my Christmas colors but I think this card turned out nice! For this 5x7 card, I used a pattern from Jeanette Lynton's How To Book - Wishes .  The pattern is called Midpoint.   I used my Art Philosophy cricut cartridge to first cut out the tree.  Then I stamped the it with Black ink and added Red Glitz Glitter Gel (Z1484) to each little bird.   My red-checked ribbon is from the Designer Ribbon - Red Collection (Z1615).  I used 3-D foam tape to pop the tree up a little.   Here is a picture a little more close up of the tree and birds.  If you haven't ordered your Holiday Wishes yet, you still have time!   Just purchase $25 in My Acry...

Autumn Treat Bag

Image
I made this cute little treat bag with the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge and used the So Grateful stamp for the pumpkin and leaves.    I stamped the pumpkin in Honey ink first and rolled the edges in Goldrush to give it some shading.   I used the same technique on a couple of the leaves with Chocolate ink.  Using only chocolate ink, I used 2nd generation stamping and then rolled the leaf in chocolate.     The strip at the top of the bad is a zip strip from the Dreamin' paper pack.  And my tag, of course, is cut from the Art Philosophy cricut!    This is a FAST and EASY bag that I can fill with candy use as a fun little thank you for a special friend.   I'm also submitting this in the Crazy 4 Challenges this week!  Their challenge was to create anything with a pumpkin!  I saw some really cute ideas there so be sure to check them all out here .

The temperature finally cooled down to a 'fall-like' level this week and this has me yearning for the colors of fall to hurry up and get here!  BTW - when the temperature falls below 62 degrees, I absolutely have to make my first batch of the chili of season.  When I headed home from work on Tuesday it was 59 degrees - So we had Chili for supper!
