Happy 97th Birthday!

Image
My Grandma will be celebrating her 97th birthday on Thursday!  I wanted to create a fun card for her and the Balloon Ride (X7180B)  paper seemed to just fit her personality.   Balloon Ride is so carefree and happy. My Grandma is an amazing woman.  She still lives on her family farm, remarried at the young age of 87, and has traveled all over the world.  She was just featured in the Newburgh Magazine in an article "Love of  Lifetime".  You can read it here if you like -  Newburgh Magzine .   It's on page 42. For this card I used Sketch #22 from Seize the Sketch       Product Used The Balloon Ride paper, compliments and assortments will all retire July 31 so if you really like this line you need to order before July 31!  Shop my website 24/7!  Start shopping  HERE !

An Ivy Lane Birthday

Image
Monday was my Mother's birthday.  She loves flowers and like me, she loves about any shade of green.   I felt like this card was perfect for her! My go to paper for this card was Ivy Lane.  The green background is the Ivy Lane Green that is an exclusive color to this kit.  I used the Damask Embossing Folder (Z1927)  for the background.  I still had a few pieces of Ivy Lane stickease left over from my Look To Light Card Box and Cards project I did previously so I used them on my card.  By the way, I gave the box and set of card to my mom.  If you missed them, you can see that project HERE .   The metal flowers are from the retired Base & Bling Floral Accents.  "Happy Birthday" is stamped with Cocoa Ink.  This sentiment is from one of my favorite sets - " Joyful Birthday" (B1419) Ivy Lane Compliments (X7178C) Ivy Lane Paper (X7178B) Damask Embossing Folder (Z1927) Joyful Birt...

Why it's Great to be 19

Image
Today is my daughter's birthday.   She told me the other that day that there just wasn't anything good about 19.   I asked her what she meant by that.   She said "19" is boring.   There is just nothing exciting about being 19.   She said when you turn 13 you are finally a "teen".  When you turn 16 that's exciting because now you get to drive.   When you turn 18, you are legally an adult.  When you turn 21, you are of legal age.  But when you turn 19, what is exciting about that? So in honor of Kayli's 19th Birthday, I'm going to give her a list of 10 reasons why it is great to be 19! 1. This is your last year to be considered a "TEENAGER". 2.  It is socially acceptable to still be living at home. 3. If you flipped the number "19" around, you'd be "61".  'nuff said about that. 4. You still have 6 more years to go before being kicked off your parents Insurance. 5.  You survived High School. 6...

Happy Birthday with Retro Sketches

Image
It's been a BUSY week and I'm just now getting around to posting this Birthday Card I created using sketch from Retro Sketches.    I actually made the card on Monday night but I haven't had time to post and here we are one day away from the deadline. It was my Boss's birthday on Wednesday and when everyone around knows you love to make cards, they call upon you to create a card for the Boss!   That's ok - they know I love it and I'm really honored that I'm asked.  I guess if they didn't like what I create they wouldn't ask me.  :)  Plus, it's alot more fun to create when I'm doing it for a particular person!   I saw the sketch over at Retro Sketches on Saturday and knew it was one I wanted to try out. So when I was asked to make a Birthday Card I knew exactly which sketch I would use! I used the Babycakes paper for this card - something about polka dots makes me think "Birthday". A Little Gift.... New M size stamps!

Image
Here is a sneak peek at one of the new "M" size stamps coming out in Close To My Heart's Autumn Winter Idea Book!  There are 8 new "M" size stamps.  The great thing about these little beauties is that you can create a quick card in no time at all with them and they are only $2.95 each! I was sitting as my crafting table last night with a HUGE list of 'must do' items before my upcoming Open House but not in the mood to do any of them!  I spotted a card I started a few weeks ago and never finished.  The card was supposed to be clean and simple with no embellishments but I was having such a hard time sticking to the rule of Clean and Simple that I set it aside to finish another day.  Not wanting to tackle my 'must do' list, I pulled the card over and began putting it together - adding a layer of cardstock, twine and Glitz Glitter Gel.  I think it was the card I envisioned from the beginning.   I will just have to resign myself to the fact that I...

A Washi Wonder Birthday

Image
Here's a new stamp coming out August 1st.  It's a special stamp set and not everyone can get it!  What makes it so special?   Its a Hostess Only set!  There are seven Hostess Only stamps that will be available in the new Autumn/Winter Idea book.  The great news for Hostess, when they choose one of these special stamps, they can get them at a special low price! When I first looked at the new book I new immediately that this Washi Wonder set would be a must have in my collection.    It's a fun stamp with lots of washi tape designs and because you stamp them, that means you have a choice of any color in any design!   I couldn't wait to create a card with this set!  This set has a retail price of $17.95 but Hostess' can get it for just $10! I created a Birthday card using another one of my favorite stamps - Joyful Birthday (B1419) I used Kraft paper as my card base and the colors of Lagoon, Smoothie, Buttercup and Desert Sand. ...

A Dream Pop Birthday Card

Image
Here is a quick card I made with the Dream Pop paper using the Freshly Made Sketch #87 . One reason this card was so easy is because I used this piece from the Dream Pop paper pack: The strip down the side of the paper gave me exactly what I needed!  The other portion of the paper provides a nice background for the card. I just love the Honey and Slate colors together.   I stamped a flower from Girls Rock  stamp set onto  coordinating flowers I cut from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge .   I added slate buttons and Creme Brulee Bakers Twine.   Recipe for 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Card: Dream Pop Paper Girls Rock (C1538) Joyful Birthday (B1419) Mini Medley's Accents Slate Collection (Z1787) Baker's Twine Paradise Assortment (Z1702) This National Scrapbooking Special Dream Pop paper pack won't last long!  Inventory supply is showing just 24% today!  If you haven't ordered yours, be quick!  Get it today before it's gone...

Cupcakes and Dream Pop

Image
WOW!  Two cards in two days!  I guess I'm trying to make up for missed creative time the last few days.   I created another card with the special Dream Pop Paper that will be available beginning May 1 until May 31 (or until supplies last).  This paper is so much fun I'll be REALLY surprised if there is any left at the end of May! This morning when I checked the blog challenges I got an idea to combine the Mojo Monday sketch with the Heart 2 Heart Challenge (create something with a cake or cupcakes and twine).  I couldn't wait to get home and put my idea to an actual card! Here is what I came up with: I used some Dream Pop pattern paper for the bottom portion of the card and the rest is cardstock from the Dream Pop pack. The cardstock is so cool because it has a resist pattern on it.  Each color has a different pattern.  I used the cupcake stamp from Pun Fun (C1501) - one of my favorite sets!  I used Black Pigment ink for my stampi...

Sneak Peak of Dream Pop

Image
Next month is National Scrapbooking Month and Close To My Heart always has an AWESOME paper pack to celebrate.  Close To My Heart consultants get a one month preview BEFORE the paper is released. (Just one of the perks to being a consultant!) I absolutely LOVE this paper!  The colors are vibrant and right on trend.   I couldn't wait to play with it.  But, I had to wait a bit due to a busy softball schedule. I spent Thursday through VERY late last night at a softball tournament.  I'm happy to say, my daughter's team won the Championship!  It took me a while to get going today.  (I'm still feeling effects of the windy weather and loud screaming that I did! I nearly lost my voice!) I combined the colors from Playdate Cafe with Sketch #98 from Deconstructed Sketches for this card -  Hopefully this large picture shows the resist that is on the cardstock included in this paper pack.  There are 6 different colors (2 each) of cardstock e...

A Tuesday Morning Happy Birthday

Image
This week's Tuesday Morning Sketch was perfect for Close To My Heart's new Honeycomb stamp set.   I couldn't wait to get home and use this set for this sketch!   I combined the sketch with this week's Color Throwdown .   I used the ink colors of Smoothie, Sunset and Blush for my honeycombs.  The outline is stamped in Desert Sand.  And what do you know - there is that burlap ribbon!  BTW, I've used so much burlap lately that I'm getting low again so will be ordering more!  I wrapped some Smoothie Bakers Twine around the burlap and tied a little bow.  The sentiment is from my new Joyful Birthday stamp and also stamped in Desert Sand. My inspiration:                                                Recipe 5x7 Card Desert Sand Cardstock White Daisy Cardstock My Acrylix Stamp - Honeycomb C1537 (Available Feb 1) ...

Sneak Peek of Chantilly - Birthday Card

Image
The day after the new Seize The Birthday challenge was posted, my new products for Close To My Heart's Spring Summer Idea Book arrived.  As I opened each packet of new paper I knew immediately that I would be creating a card with Chantilly for this challenge!   If you haven't discovered Seize the Birthday yet, it's brand new and I'm going to really like this one.  It's all about Birthday cards!  They will post a new Sketch every two weeks - Use the sketch the first week to create a 'girly' card. The second week you create a masculine card using the same sketch.  I can already tell that this one will be fun! Here is the sketch: Here is my card for the 'girly' week! The papers are from the new Chantilly (X7163B)  paper pack that will be available February 1.  I used two brand new stamps set that will be released then also.  The frame, which coordinates with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge, is from the set Frame Flair (D1548).  Th...
