How to Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims - A True Thank You

Image
I just LOVE this little stamp! I created another card tonight with the A True Thank You stamp.  This stamp was to be introduced in Close To My Heart's Fall Winter Idea book but after the terrible tornado tragedy in Oklahoma, Close To My Heart pulled it out early for something very special.  During the month of June, 100% of the profits from the sale of A True Thank You will go to help aid the relief of the Oklahoma Tornado Victims.    According to the Corporate offices last week, already THOUSANDS of this little stamp has been sold! We still have a few weeks left in June so I'm hoping that thousands more will be sold!  I actually purchased several because I think these will make great little gifts! Here is the card I created tonight using the colors from this week's ColourQ challenge along with a sketch from our Close To My Heart's How To Book - Wishes. Black, White and SPARKLE!

Image
With only a few days left in our Holiday Wishes stamp special, I wanted to share another card I made using the tree from this set.  The challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges this week was to use Black, White and WOW !   So my WOW color is red.   I'm not used to using Black and White for my Christmas colors but I think this card turned out nice! For this 5x7 card, I used a pattern from Jeanette Lynton's How To Book - Wishes .  The pattern is called Midpoint.   I used my Art Philosophy cricut cartridge to first cut out the tree.  Then I stamped the it with Black ink and added Red Glitz Glitter Gel (Z1484) to each little bird.   My red-checked ribbon is from the Designer Ribbon - Red Collection (Z1615).  I used 3-D foam tape to pop the tree up a little.   Here is a picture a little more close up of the tree and birds.  If you haven't ordered your Holiday Wishes yet, you still have time!   Just purchase $25 in My Acry...

Hooray Bouquet with Cricut

Image
Here is another stamp set from Close To My Heart's 2011 Autumn Winter Idea Book that I just couldn't wait to try out!  This stamp is called Hooray Bouquet and it has six stamps that coordinate with images on the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. I needed to make a card for a co-worker that is retiring this week. (Lucky gal!)  This was the perfect stamp for the card I had in mind. Hooray Bouquet and Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge The card pattern is from Wishes - Open Outline .   Although there is a template with the book for the cut out circle, I used my cricut cartridge to cut them out.  EASY! Desert Sand is the base for my 6x6 card.  I chose the sorbet pattern paper from the Elemental Paper pack and used one of the circle dimensional elements from the coordinating  Elemental Compliments .  Next I cut out the two flower shapes with the Arts Philosophy cricut cartridge - one on Sorbet cardstock and the smaller one on Colonial White cardstoc...

Mayberry - So SWEET!

Image
What helps to make a cold rainy day better?  Get out your favorite paper and do some crafting!  I needed to design a fun card for an upcoming private workshop that I will be doing so I pulled out the Mayberry paper and went to work.   I have the cutest stamp set called You're Sweet that I purchased last summer.  I had yet to use it so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.   I got out my Wishes book and found a card design called File Folder that I thought would be fun to use our new scallop punch with. I have to admit, as this card was coming together, I got more and more excited.   If you were at my house and in another room you would wonder what those little squeaks and squeals were about.  I can't help it.... I emit little noises when I really like what I'm creating.    When I was finished, I had to show it off.   I 'skipped' (not really) to the family room where my husband was watching TV (Probably basketball) and said "...

A is for A-size Stamp!

Image
The rainy weather today was the perfect recipe for creating today.   So I sat down with my Creative Basic Wings Collection paper and a couple of A-size stamps and created a few cards!  This week I have my Card Chatter Workshop and we are going to be using this same paper to make our cards.  If you missed my post on my Card Chatter Workshop you can see it here .    I wanted to show off our A-size stamps at the workshop along with our wonderful How To books - Originals (9032) and Wishes (9033) .    My card-making skills were really lacking in the design department before these books came along.   Now I make cards with confidence!  hmmmm..... Maybe that is why they are referred to as a Card Confidence program!  I love the style of these new A-size stamps!  They make creating quick cards very simple and easy and they are OH SO CUTE!   The price of these A-size stamps is great too at just $7.95.  There are eleven different A...

Back from Petticoat Junction!

Image
I just returned from my weekend retreat at Petticoat Junction on Sunday and we had a BLAST!  The weather was wonderful (no blizzard to deal with this year) and the food was delightful (as always!).    The weekend flew by so fast and it was hard to believe that it was time to pack up and get back to our busy lives.  I think I accomplished nearly everything I planned to. I completed the layouts from 4 of the WOTG kits - Sweetheart, Fanfare, Miracle and Mayberry along with cards from the kits.   I'll be sharing those in the near future.   I think the most pages completed by one of the retreaters was a whopping 52!!! WOW!!! Way to go Sue!   This year I wanted to do something fun with the ladies so I had a little card challenge.    I provided four card patterns from Jeanette Lynton's How To books - Wishes and Originals and also Close To My Heart paper samples from the past several years.    The ladies were to choose a car...

This month, Close To My Heart's Stamp of the Month is Friendship.  I decided to get away from the traditional colors of Red and Pink for Valentines Day.   I wanted something a little different.   I chose to make my cards using the new Lucky paper from Close To My Heart.   I love the colors of Outdoor Denim, Desert Sand and Sunset. The square card is a 6x6 card using the Background Bar pattern from Originals .  The smaller card is a 3x6 card using the patter Name Plate from Wishes . H2H Color Challenge

Image
I'm taking a break from my Organizing to post my entry for the H2H Challenge.  It is a well deserved break too!  I've been doing so much sorting and straightening lately. Take a look at my scraptable! It was just BEGGING me to mess it up! I was excited about doing this H2H Challenge. The H2H Challenge is a color challenge and I was ready for a change in colors!  I still had not received my order of the new Spring Summer products to play with so I've been working with the new Wings paper kit almost exclusively. Here are the colors for the challenge: We were allowed to add a touch of sorbet. Here is my H2H Color Challenge entry:  "Dream" For the color of Sky, I used B&T paper from Magnifique and Sky Cardstock.  Pear came from the B&T paper from Olivia and Pear Cardstock. "Dream" is stamped in Sky u sing the new "Dreams Come True" Stampset that is featured in this month's January Inspiration Brochure.   This stamp is regu...

"A Little Thanks" goes a long way!

Image
It is always handy to have a few Thank You cards on hand.   So I made up a few using Close To My Heart's Stamp of the Month - A Little Thanks.   I chose to work with the Cherry-O paper which was introduced in our 2010 Summer Idea Book.   This paper will retire December 31 so if you like it, you need to get it before the end of the year!   (Be sure to check out this month's special on my  Monthly Specials  tab) For this round card I used our 4 1/2" Colonial White Circle Cards (Z1352).   I used the Simple Secure pattern from Wishes .  The pink band with zig-zag stitching is cut from the ribbon paper in Cherry O (so the stitching isn't actual stitching!). The ACTUAL stitching is around the border of the card.  I used Chocolate embroidery floss to stitch around the edge.   It was easy and only took a few minutes.  "Gratitude" is stamped in Chocolate ink. Accents are colonial white and chocolate buttons with a Chocolate Ribbon (it's ...

Captured Moments - Happy Birthday Daddy!

Image
Today is my dad's birthday.  I once read that a father is neither an anchor to hold us back, nor a sail to take us where we want to go, but he is a guiding light whose love shows us the way.  That is my dad.  He shares with us his wisdom to help us achieve the goals that we have set for ourselves.  My dad has great patience, which probably grew over the years from raising four daughters.   How else could one come to this point in his life with any sanity left?!   Sunday evening we went to celebrate my dad's birthday so I spent some time beforehand making him a special card.   One of the stamp sets I used was Captured Moments (C1423).  This was the perfect stamp because as I made my card for my dad, I thought about the 'captured moments' that we spent together over the years as I was growing up, then married and began raising children of my own. I used several techniques on this card.  The blowing tree at the bottom of the card is from th...

Cardmaking Made Easy

Image
I used to NEVER make cards.  My paper crafting abilities were pretty much limited to making scrapbook pages.   Why was it easier to make a 12x12 layout than a small card?  For some reason I was intimated by that small card that didn't even include a picture!  Yet every time I went to purchase a card I cringed at paying $3.75 - $4.50 for a card.  I would think to myself "With all those scraps I seem to hang onto, I could easily make a card for much less!"  I had all of these beautiful papers and embellishments from Close To Heart that would make beautiful cards.  I needed to be using them! Then, Jeanette Lynton came to my rescue!   She introduced her first "How To" book for cardmaking called  Originals .   The front cover alone will entice anyone to open it up and just breathe in the ideas.  The artwork in the book was enough to inspire even the least creative mind!  A couple of years later, Jeanette introduced us to her ...
