Oh Happy Day - Free To Be Me

Image
National Scrapbooking Month is still going on and today I have a card to share with you that I created with Close To My Heart's special NSM paper pack - Free To Be Me.  This card is adapted from Sketch #19 in Make It From Your Heart Vol 1. I cut out the gold polka dot vellum paper to use at the top of each Red Shimmer Trim (Z1848) .  I thought this made them look like candles.  The banner is cut from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge and I used the stamp that is included with the collection to stamp the sentiment.   I love the resist cardstock that is included in this pack! There are only 2 1/2 weeks left to take advantage of this special paper pack!  When you order $50 in Close To My Heart products, you can add this special paper pack for just $5 more!   ($11.95 retail value).   The Free to Be Me paper pack i s only available until May 31 (or while supplies last!)  So order yours today! Lots of Chevrons!

Image
Chevrons are everywhere these days.  I took a break from Christmas Cards on Sunday to create this Birthday card full of chevrons when I saw the sketch from Friday Mashup .  I chose to go mostly black and white with just a splash of aqua dots on my card.  I used a variety of stamps on my card: Holiday Tags (D1560) for the Happy Birthday.  The frame was cut with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge. One Way Borders (C1561) for the chevron border Artiste Cricut Collection - (Z1790) for the pinwheel Other items used: For Always Paper - X7165B Black Cardstock - 1386 White Cardstock - 1385 Black Baker's Twine - Baker's Twine Neutral Assortment - Z1701 Aqua Dots - Z1853 Black Ink - Z2105            Holiday Tags One Way Borders Friday Mashup Sketch       I'm also entering this card into Crazy 4 Challenges - Use Black & White with a Splash of color.

All That Glitters.....

Another simple, quick & easy card!  This time I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch!  I love their sketches.... clean and simple!   I used the Artiste Cricut Cartridge to create the Happy Holidays banner.  First I cut the banner from white cardstock and then I cut the frame from the green glitter paper to layer.   Recipe: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 White Daisy Card Green Glitter Paper  - Z1847 Red Shimmer Trim - Z1848 Base & Bling Red Jewels - Z1893 Holiday Tags - D1560 Black Ink Artiste Cricut Collection - Z1790 CAS(E) This Sketch! #52 BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE  HOLIDAY FROM THE HEAR GIFT GUIDE! A Dakota Birthday Wish

Image
Two posts in one day!  Not usual for me - I like to spread them out but I wanted to get this card posted to the Freshly Made Sketches challenge before the challenge closed.   When I saw this sketch I didn't have to think too long about what I wanted to do or what paper to use.   It immediately shouted out DAKOTA and BURLAP!  Any chance to use burlap on a project is a PLUS for me!  2nd note to self - order more Burlap!  I still have plenty but I always have that fear I'll run out before I get more - it's comforting to me to know I have enough backup on hand. So, I pulled out my Dakota paper pack (X7157B)  and Burlap and went to work.  My Dad's birthday is coming up soon and I thought the colors of the Dakota paper (Barn Red, Outdoor Denim and Whisper) would make a nice 'manly' card. Here is what I came up with:   I used the Artiste Cricut cartridge (Z1790) to cut the star and the paisley round shape. The paisl...

Friday Mash-up Meets Color Throwdown

Image
Hello there! I got home from my annual MAD trip on Wednesday. After getting the 'mundane' house things accomplished (and catching up on sleep!), I finally had time to play along with some challenges! Armed with a list of challenges I had printed out, I went to work.   This week's Color Throwdown color drew me in right away because they had some colors from my FAVORITE paper pack - Flirty (X7160B) .  Note to self - Purchase another pack of this beautiful paper!!  I combined these colors with a sketch from Friday Mash-up for this card. I added Pear cardstock to Flirty's color's of Goldrush and Flirty Raspberry.  A great combination!   I used the new Artiste Cricut Cartridge for the banner, balloons and star.   The Artiste collection includes a stamp set that perfectly matches all three!  The banner is just the size for the Dimensional Elements - Banners that are ALSO included in the Artiste collection.   I used the Art Phi...

A Halloween Banner in Moonlight

Image
Banners are all the rage right now so why not create a fun Halloween Banner that is quick and easy for Halloween?   I created this Banner with Close To My Heart's My Creations Banner .  It comes with 8 chipboard pennants that measure 7" x 6" and includes 7 jump rings.   There was no stamping involved on this banner and using the coordinating Moonlight Paper Packet  and  Moonlight Compliments Dimensional Elements made creating this banner a breeze!  I tied Black Tulle Ribbon  to each of the jump rings and added  Haunted Assortments for a little bling!   I also used the Artiste Cricut Cartridge for some on the background shapes on the pennants.   Since the above picture is so small (had to get the entire banner in!) I'm going to show you two pennants at a time so you can get a closer look!   The little banners on the right pennant are actually from the Compliments Dimensional Elements!   I used Black H...

A Piece of Cake for Clementine

Image
HAPPY FRIDAY!!  I'm ready for the weekend and some crafty time!  How about you? I just love our new Artiste Cricut Collection!  I made this cute little pie shape box in just minutes.  I was surprised at how fast it came together.  I used Close to My Heart's new  Clementine   (X7156B) paper to make this 'yummy' slice of cake.  I think this would make a really cute Thank You gift for bridesmaids or just about any occasion. Then I just cut and folded!  To 'decorate' my slice of cake I used our new Colonial White Rosette Ribbon (Z1800).  It reminded me of the yummy icing border that is around the cake's edges. I tied a big wide band of our Dark Chocolate Striped Grosgrain Ribbon   (Z1617) around the top and bottom and attached a Thank You sentiment stamped from our new set - Casual Expressions (D1525)   I used the Artiste cartridge to cut out the base for the stamped image. Life is Good with MOONLIGHT

Image
I've been sharing some artwork that I created for this year's Extravaganza at our Close To My Heart convention.  I've been so busy getting ready for my Open House tomorrow I've haven't had a lot of time to get them all posted.  But I'm going to take a few minutes today to share one of the layouts.   (Be sure to read at the end of my post about a special drawing this month!) Once again, I used the Moonlight paper paper.   It's a Halloween themed kit but I created this layout to show how you can use the paper for events other than Halloween.  This is my good friend Jana and her family. Aren't they a beautiful family!   I printed the pictures in black and white - they went so well with this paper! The new Slate Satin Polka Dot   Ribbon (Z1802) makes a nice pleated border.  I used Glue Dot to pleat the ribbon (because I hate pulling out the sewing machine!).  I also used the new Sparkles Black Flourishes (Z1745).  I love thes...

Back to School We Go with a Munchie Box!

Image
Wednesday marks the first day of school.  I'm ready!  I've been very busy the last couple of weeks getting ready for my Open House celebrating Close To My Heart's new Autumn Winter Idea Book!  I came across  Crazy 4 Challenges blog this week which was perfect for one of the items I made featuring the new Scholastic (X7159B) paper pack.  The challenge - make a card/project for a teacher.  Another challenge blog - The Paper Players has the same challenge so I'm linking my project to that challenge also!  I made this cute little 'back to school' box that would be perfect for your teacher's favorite treats to welcome her back to school!  I'm sure she's just as excited as our kids to be back. Here is my Back to School Munchie Box! I used Close To My Heart's new EXCLUSIVE Artiste Cricut Cartridge (Z1790) to cut my box.  I used our new Cashmere color cardstock for the box. I set the measurement dial to 4". ...
