Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a great July 4th weekend!  Today its back to routine and work.  BOOO.... but maybe this card will lift your spirits about the workweek ahead. I created this card for the H2H Challenge in which I'm a Guest Designer for this month!   The focus of this week's challenge is to create something that is up in the air such as a plane, helicopter, hot air balloon, butterfly, bird, etc. For my card I used sketch #83 from Case This Sketch with Close To My Heart's Balloon Ride paper. How appropriate, right?   I pulled out my Lifting Spirits stamp set and paper pieced the hot air balloon using different patterns of paper from the Balloon Ride Kit. One of the new stamp sets in the Holiday Guide is Santa Claus (C1567) .  If you love all things Santa like me, then this adorable stamp is a must have!   I used the sketch from this week's Paper Players challenge to create this card.   The masking technique helps to create a Ruby Santa's cap after stamping Santa in Slate ink. The strip across the front of the card is the zip strip from the Sparkle & Shine Paper pack. WOW!  Two cards in two days!  I guess I'm trying to make up for missed creative time the last few days.   I created another card with the special Dream Pop Paper that will be available beginning May 1 until May 31 (or until supplies last).  This paper is so much fun I'll be REALLY surprised if there is any left at the end of May! This morning when I checked the blog challenges I got an idea to combine the Mojo Monday sketch with the Heart 2 Heart Challenge (create something with a cake or cupcakes and twine).  I couldn't wait to get home and put my idea to an actual card! Here is what I came up with: I used some Dream Pop pattern paper for the bottom portion of the card and the rest is cardstock from the Dream Pop pack. Today I wanted to share with you the 2nd layout I created for my application to teach at this year's Close To My Heart convention.   Due to a new format, they cut the field of teachers back from 32 to just 18.  I was not selected this year but I will try again next year! My oldest daughter traveled to Louisville, KY with a couple of friends back in February to run in a race on her 23rd birthday.  My sister lives in Louisville and she has a daughter Kirsti's age so all got together the evening after the race and celebrated her birthday.  My sister even made her a cake.  It was a special day so I wanted to be sure to capture the memory for her. For this layout, I used our Claire paper pack, chevron ribbon, burlap ribbon, wooden mini medley accents and lots of wooden trinkets shapes!   I had not used the wooden trinket shapes yet so I had a lot of fun using them on this layout.  This layout is Sketch #1 from the Make It From Your Heart Book. ...

Clean and Simple cards are actually a little difficult for me!  I have to really hold myself back from adding lots of embellishments.  I try though.... maybe one of these days I'll get the CLEAN and SIMPLE part down.    Here is my attempt today: Today's Heart 2 Heart Challenge is create a Clean and Simple Card, while over at CAS-ual Friday their challenge was to add a little bit of silver to a clean and simple card.  So, I thought I'd might as well use the sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping and create something for all three! For this card I used a bit of paper from the Later Sk8r (X7167B) paper pack and some silver paper from the Black and Grey Glitter Paper (Z1829) .  I used the Artiste Cricut cartridge to cut a couple gears in the silver paper.  I have to say, this glitter paper cuts like butter on my cricut! And, I really like that it doesn't leave glitter everywhere!  The background stamp and "No Fear" is from the stamp ...

I just love the new Pear & Partridge Glittery Rub-ons!   With these rub-ons you can create pretty cards in a snap.   The glittery snowflakes added a little sparkle to what would have been just plain Cashmere cardstock layered on Cranberry.  The birds stringing the Christmas lights and the little flower are all rub-ons.  Aren't they pretty? I used the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge to cut my shape using the layer key to cut the Pear & Partridge B&T paper to layer.   The sentiment is from Christmas Love (D1492) . This card was inspired by a card I saw in the new Paper Craft's Holiday Cards & More issue that recently hit the shelves.  I look forward to this issue each year and couldn't wait to get my hands on my own copy.   As soon as I saw the card created by Kimberly Crawford on page 27 of the magazine, I knew I had to lift it and put my own spin on it.  You can see Kimberly's card on her blog  HERE . Here is my take on the card: There is that wonderful burlap which I love so much!  The burlap is probably the first thing that drew me to the card. The textured paper I used for my card is from the  Scholastic (X7159B)  paper pack which looks great with burlap.  Kimberly used felt for her poinsettia. I'm back!  Finally finished with the softball season at school.  Well, almost. I still have a lot of paperwork to do but at least I don't have to spend hours up at the field.   The team had a great season and I'm sort of sad to see it end but I'm ready to get back to a somewhat normal life.   I sat down tonight to see what challenges I've been missing.  This week over at Heart 2 Heart the challenge is to make a Mother's Day card.  That is something I need to get done!  Also, over at the 4 Crafty Chicks , the challenge was to make a card using a stamp for the sentiment only.  So, I incorporated those two challenges along with the sketch from Skipping Stones Sketch #127 . My dear sweet grandma had a minor stroke on Saturday.  My grandma, who is a very fiesty 94 years young (almost 95) has not let that stop her!  The stroke left her with little use of her right arm and left leg (very unusual - but she is not your usual Grandma!).  By Sunday morning she was complaining that "All this deal, test, and stuff was making her miss her breakfast and that she wanted some bacon and eggs and a cup of coffee!”.  She promptly got her breakfast and ate every bit! On Tuesday, she was moved to Rehab but before she left they had her up and walking with a walker! Go GRANDMA!  She'll be walking out of there in a week's time I bet. Here she is with the bask...

This week at H2H (Heart 2 Heart) their challenge was 1-2-3.  Use 1 stamp, 2 pattern papers and 3 embellishments.  Instead of making a card this time, I made a layout!  I'm working on a project and needed to make a layout. My problem now i,s I don't have many pictures to scrapbook!  My girls are grown and we just don't take many pictures so I didn't have the kind of pictures I was looking for to complete my project.  It is hard to go back and use old photos because I have found that photography and the quality of our photos has changed so much in the last 20 years.  Many times I shake my head at the types of shots I took way back when.  So, I reached out to my friend who has the most adorable little girls and asked if I could use them as my subject.   I think this turned out 2 CUTE! This weeks challenge over at Heart 2 Heart   is to use a stamp you haven't used before or at least in a long time.  I've got several of those.  (!)  I've been wanting to make a Valentine card so I thumbed through my stamps looking for one that would work.  I don't use many of my Valentine stamps.  I pulled out my Feburary Word Puzzle stamp set. Remember those? I LOVED those word puzzle stamps!  There was a Word Puzzle stamp for every month.  I bought each month before they retired. I've got several months I've never used but keeping thinking someday I'll use them. So I'll probably always keep these stamps in my stash.  My February Word puzzle had hardly been used at all.   So this one will qualify for H2H.   Since I seemed to be in a 'retired' mode, I decided to use my retired Sweetheart paper.   This paper was in the 2011 Spring Summer Idea book.  I used the sketch from Mojo Monday to create my card. ...

I've been missing in action since Sunday's blog post about our special Rock Around The Block.  This week has been crazy busy.   I worked Monday & Tuesday and then drove up to Kentucky to get Jeff's mom so she could spend Christmas with us.  We came back Wednesday.  Thursday was a cold rainy day and instead of spending time in my craft room - something I LOVE to do on rainy days - I spent the day in the kitchen baking lots of goodies for Christmas.   Thursday, I took Jeff's mom to see his office, Kirsti's apartment and then met Kayli out at The Avenue for Lunch with the girls and Nana.  It was a good day but I think I wore Nana out! Today is quiet.  Both girls are working all day and Jeff went hunting this morning.  I was bound and determined to make one more Christmas card. Here is another Christmas card with Holiday Wishes !  I got the inspiration for this card from a card by Kelly Eubanks in the Holiday Cards magazine by Paper Crafts .    Can you believe this paper is not 'Christmas'?  This is from the Roxie Level 2 Paper pack!  This card has a 'woodsy' feel.  Makes me think of hot apple cider in front of a warm fire in a cabin in the woods!  I used Cranberry ink on Bamboo cardstock for the stocking.  I cut the stocking with the Art Philosophy cartridge first and then stamped it.  This week's Heart 2 Heart Challenge  is Metal Mania - incorporate something metal in your project. So I added two pewter buttons on top of the black grosgrain ribbon.  My final touch was the Foundry Pin Clip for a stocking hanger. If you read my post the other day, you know I was getting tired of making fall cards!  I've got some really pretty winter and Christmas themed paper that I've been wanting to play with not to mention a bunch of new stamps to go with them!  So, to ease into the winter/Christmas season I decided to start with winter card with ONE snowflake.   But get ready.... for the next few weeks this one snowflake will bring on more wintery cards! I came across the Moxie Fab blog a few days ago and they had several card sketch challenges - 4 as a matter of fact!   Each sketch looked fun and I wanted to give them all a try when I had a chance.  I got busy and totally forgot until I saw a card created by my scrappin' bud Mandy. (See her cards over at Scrappity-Doo-Da ).  So tonight I sat down and re-visited Moxie Fab and checked out a few other challenges.  Over at the Heart 2 Heart, their challenge was to create something with die-cuts.  My first Moxie Fab sketch goes well with the H2H challenge so I'm submitting them for both! Are you ready to see some Easter and spring cards?   Today, H2H is hosting a Bunny Hop!    We were asked to create anything Easter theme or 'springy'.    For the first time in a week I finally had a chance to sit down at my scrap table and do some creating.   Only problem....my creativity level was running on empty.      I searched around for something really cool to create - maybe a 3D item.    But it just wasn't meant to be!   I couldn't pull it out of me. I reached for my #1 paper pack  - Mayberry.   This paper just says "EASTER" to me.   Maybe it is because the colors remind me of the Easter eggs we used to dye as kids.  I decided to make a "Spring" card using a card from CTMH's xlear card set.  The challenge in creating with the clear cards is you have to think 2 dimensional as you create.  So as you are creating the front, you have to think about the other side and how you will hide the adh...
