Life Without Friendship

Image
It's been a beautiful day sunny day today and I just returned from having lunch with one of my best friends.  I didn't have any deadlines to get back to so we sat outside on the restaurant's patio and had the best time catching up.  We haven't had time in several weeks to get together so it was nice.  We discussed kids, families, work (ugh) and then our favorite past time - creating!!  I was feeling kind of crabby this morning so this was the best medicine for a pick-me-up.   Friends are great - they can always bring a smile and a little more sunshine to your day. After lunch I was excited to have a few free hours to myself this afternoon and couldn't WAIT to get home to create.  I printed off a bunch of challenges that I wanted to participate in and sat down at my scrap table to really crank something out.  And I sat..... and I sat..... I started out intending to create a card for one challenge and I began to go through my stamps looking for just th...

Using Ready Made Embellishments

A few weeks ago I shared how easy it was to use leftover stickease to create beautiful cards really quick. If you missed that post, you can see those cards HERE .  When I create a layout with stickease or complements I always have just a few left over.  There is no better way to use them up than with a card!  Today I'm sharing a card that I created using my leftover Laughing Lola Compliments dimensional elements.  This card came together very quickly.  The only stamping is the sentiment which is from our exclusive " You Are My Happy" stamp set.  The Chevron arrow was 12" long and I cut is down to fit the card.   Then I layered my DE flowers for a nice effect.   I just LOVE this paper and the matching Compliments are a perfect touch.   Recipe: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Card - Laughing Lola Gold (exclusive to Laughing Lola Paper Pack) Sketch - Make It From Your Heart Vol. 2 - Sketch #20 (9042) Paper - Laughing Lola (X7170B) Compliments - ...

Fall is in the air!

Image
I needed a door prize for my Girl's Night Out Event last night so I grabbed one of my little Petite Perk stamps, A Touche of Fall, and created a card.  I wanted to give away the card along with the stamp so that the winner would have a little inspiration for creating something with their new stamp. With the help of Close to My Heart's Make It From Your Heart Vol 2 sketch book I was able to create this card in just 30 minutes!  I recommend ALL of our How To books for anyone that loves sketches for inspiration! Our Petite Perks can't be purchased.  These are special little stamps available to consultants.  As I told the girl's last night - "You have to know ME to get this cute little set!"  I usually give these away at events or parties. Here is my card that the winner got along with a brand new Petite Perk.  Recipe: 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Colonial White Card Value Pack (X1410) Make It From Your Heart Sketch #19 (9042) Huntington Paper (X7174B) ...

A Few of My Favorite Things.....

Image
Do you have a favorite collection?  My little obsession - collection started out with one little church. It was a church from Hallmark's Nostalgic Shops and Homes.  I decided I wanted to collect churches so I bought a bigger church.. The kind that you take the roof off and put a candle in to light it up.   The next year, my Mother In Law gave me a few pieces of Colonial Village - a church and a home. Now I wanted to build a village!  My collection grew to additional Colonial Village pieces and then on to Dicken's Village. It became an elaborate set up every year that took an entire day to unpack and set up. In all of those years of collecting, I still made sure to get the new Nostalgic Shop and Houses yearly addition. I hate to say it, but since my girls have grown up and don't really get into helping me decorate anymore, I haven't pulled all those boxes of houses, churches, shops and accessories down from the closet.  I miss it, but it had become such a ch...

Come Unto Me.....

Image
I had a pretty productive day beginning about 7:30 this morning.  Saturday is my day to sleep in since I get up at 5am during the week to get ready for work.  But this morning I woke up about 6:30 and couldn't get back to sleep so I finally gave up and got up.  I went into the kitchen to fix myself some breakfast but got side tracked by my 'tupperware cabinet'.  You know the cabinet.  It's the biggest cabinet in your kitchen that is full of every size and shape of plastic ware - containers, bowls and lids!  My cabinet had gotten to the shape where you quickly open the door - throw something in and close the door before something else falls out.   I opened the cabinet and sat down and begin taking everything out.  I was determined to keep only the items that had a lid, and get rid of anything that I no longer used.   I probably threw away about 40 lids!  I guess I had this fear that a container would show up looking for it's matching lid ...

Expanding Your Layout for More Photos - Using Flip Flaps

Image
Have you discovered the wonderful world of flip flaps?  Flip Flaps are great for extending your pages with even more photos for an event.  Adding flip flaps to your pages are easy.  It just takes a little thought to make sure you continue the flow of design and color. The Memory Protector Flip Flaps (Z1325) come in an assortment of 8 flip flaps.  You get four 6x12; two 4x8 and two 8x12 flip flaps.  Each Flip Flap has a strong adhesive attachment strip to attach to your page protector. The Huntington Workshop On The Go Kit offers a great opportunity to add flip flaps.  First, I created the featured layout from the instruction brochure. Feature layout as shown in Instruction Brochure Next I created the Alternate Layout shown on the back of the Instruction Brochure.  Cutting directions and How to Steps for this layout can be found on my website under Ideas & Inspirations > Workshops On The Go.   Since the layout has a top border of ...
