September Stamp of the Month - Family is Forever

Image
Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! This month we are featuring   Family Is Forever , a set of 7 stamps. If you have come here from   Lalia Harris's Blog   you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way around. If you get lost along the way, you'll find the complete list of participating consultant's   HERE . This set would be great for scrapbooking a family page but I decided use this in a 5x7 side-step card!  Perfect for displaying on a desk or office shelf.   I paired it with the Pathfinding paper pack -- great for fall colors! I used Glacier, Autumn Terracotta, Olive, Goldrush and Chocolate inks for this card.   I masked the "Family is Forever" stamp and stamped it onto two different Art Philosophy cricut shapes for two of my 'steps'.  The big tree occupies the highest step on the card.   I will be teaching this fun card in my September Technique Tuesday ...

August Girl's Night Out - Card Buffet

Image
Last night I held my first Card Buffet for my August Girl's Night Out Event.  Over the last two months I have been creating and prepping cards for the event.   I created 16 different cards with a variety of themes - Birthday, Thank you, friendship, Sympathy, baby cards and even a wedding card! Everyone had 2 1/2 hours to create as many cards as they could.  I decided to not serve cake or refreshments that required a break from card making and instead filled up buckets of candy for each table.   I knew no one would want to take a break and the sugar would give them some extra burst of card energy.   I could feel the electricity in the air and the tension as these very determined ladies had one goal in mind  - create all the cards they could! The average number of cards completed was about 5-6 with a few ladies getting 7-8 card completed. I'm already planning my next buffet for early January bringing back these sixteen cards - there are still plenty left...

Everything is Better With a Friend

Image
Have you ever just dropped everything on your busy schedule, moved things around and made time for just hanging out with your friends?  I did that just last Friday.  Even though I had just come back from a week's vacation and had been trying to get caught up at work, when I received an email from one of my friends that said "come and hang out" - I did just that.   I have a close group of friends - some I work with, some work at the same place but I only see occasionally and then some friends I that I used to work with but they have moved on to other jobs.   Over the years, we have always stayed in touch.  We try to get together for lunch when we can (and not everyone can always make it) but we ALWAYS get together once a year for our annual cookie Swap. So, when the "Come hang out at my pool" invite came, we all dropped what we were doing and went!  Hard to turn down a pool day with this 90 plus degree weather accompanied by high humidity.   We hung o...

Seaside with Compliments

Image
This month my clubs created the Seaside WOTG pages.  These are so pretty and the feature layout in the kit uses the Artbooking cricut Cartridge.   I've got lots of pictures that will go perfectly on these pages - I just need to sit down and get them printed! Here are the layouts we completed --  pictures shown are from the brochures: I love the compliments that go with this paper so I had to create another layout using the matching stickease.   The layout sketch is from Make It From Your Heart Vol 2 - Sketch #08.   Instead of using small pictures in the 2x2 spaces, I filled them with stickease - using foam tape to give added dimension.  Aqua Dots give the layout finishing touches.

Congratulations with Freshly Made Sketches

I just returned from vacation to a long list of "To Do's".  First up on the list was to create a card for my niece's baby shower that was today.   Since I was helping to give the shower, I had done alot of the things needed before I left for vacation and I left the last thing - the card for the gift for last.  So I got up early and created the card before I left for church this morning.  First, I'll share the card I created and then I'll share some of the other things I created for the shower too! I looked to Freshly Made Sketches to get me going.  I can always count on their sketches for a great starting point.   My niece is decorating the baby's room in an airplane theme so we decided to carry that theme out in the baby shower.  So, of course, my card was an airplane theme also. I used the Chevron Embossing Folder with the Whisper cardstock for the background.   The striped piece is the Outdoor Denim from our new Paper Fundamental...

It's a Merry, Merry Yuletide Carol!

Image
Today I'm featuring the new Yuletide Carol paper!  I love to stamp wreaths so was excited to see that we have a new Christmas Wreath stamp in our new Annual Inspirations called Merry, Merry.  Playing with this wreath was fun.   I stamped the wreath in 2nd generation New England Ivy.  Next I used sponge daubers to daub the ink onto the berries and pine cones.   The berries are Ruby and the pine cones are Cocoa.  Check out the little bird!  I inked the bird up on the corner of my cocoa pad and then used the sponge dauber again to ink the berries. I used our new Gold Shimmer Trim (LOVE THIS!) and Gold Sequins to give the wreath and card a little Christmas Cheer. This card will be on display at my Annual Inspirations Open House on Saturday, September 6.  I would LOVE for you to drop by and bring a friend!  I'll have samples of ALL the new papers in addition to many of the new products!  PLUS as always.... FREE Make & Take...

Wanderful with Deconstructed Sketches

Image
Close To My Heart has many great themed paper packs but they are also very versatile  For instance - take a look at Wanderful. This is a paper pack people may look at and think it is only good for traveling/vacation themes.   With this card I created, you can see that this is definitely not the case!  I used the back side of the traveling themed paper to create this pretty card with flowers! This card features one of Close To My Heart's newest colors - Flaxen.  I used  Have a Happy Day stamp for my sentiment and flowers.  The flowers are stamped in Gypsy and Crystal Blue, the leaves in Flaxen.  The ribbon is another new product - Thistle Diagonal Striped Ribbon. Products used for this card: Deconstructed Sketches: You can find all of these products on my website at www.stampinheaven.ctmh.com If you are local to me, stop by my Open House on Saturday, September 6 between 9am and 1pm.  You can see the new produc...

Pathfinding with Freshly Made Sketches

Image
Here is another card for my Open House Display!  I had so much fun making this card using the new Pathfinding Paper from Close To My Heart.  The sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches.  I used our new Woodgrain Embossing Folder and Chocolate cardstock to create this fun woodgrain look.  After running it through my cuttlebug, I took a sponge and Chocolate ink and rubbed the ink over the embossing lines.   This gave the wood a more defined look. I used the Thankful Heart  stamp for my sentiment, leaves and pumpkin.  I got to experiment more with our new ShinHan Touch Twin Markers.  I love these markers but I need to practice more on the blending and coloring but I was pretty happy with how the pumpkin and leaves turned out for a beginner.  They are really easy to use.   I placed one of the cork pieces with the heart on it from the Pathfinding Assortment pack over the "A" in Heart and added a few Gold Sequins for added embellish...

Brushed with Mojo Monday

Image
To find New Product Blog hop click HERE. I'm hoping to get back up to blogging speed.  I've been so busy lately creating things for my open house and I haven't had a chance to share them all.  I'm getting ready to leave for a much needed vacation this weekend.  I'm determined not to take any 'work' with me although it's tempting!   I've been pretty much spending all my spare time in my craft room lately so I think next week should be family time without inky fingers, scissors and adhesive in my hands! I sneaked in a quick card late last night before I headed off to bed.  I still needed to create about 4 more cards to show off Close To My Heart's new paper packs for my displays so I chose to kill two birds with one stone.   Create something for Mojo Monday and use the new Brushed Paper ! Here is my card!  I always have at least one or two "Love at First Sight" stamps when I get Close To My Heart's new Idea book.  The Rainy Day...
