Make It Merry

Image
When I saw the Merry Monday Challenge - "Use some type of vehicle or transportation on a Christmas Card", I couldn't wait to use my new Make It Merry stamp set!  This stamp has the cutest little motor scooter on it!  I used the turned the sketch from Mojo Monday  sideways to create my card. I stamped the scooter with Black ink and then again in Cranberry.  I cut out the cranberry pieces and applied them to my scooter.   I still felt like the scooter was plain so I colored it in using the ShinHan Touch Twin Turquoise Blue Marker  using the Colorless Blending Pen to lighten it up a bit.  Now my scooter was ready to haul some Christmas goodies!  I used Glacier ink to stamp the tree and colored the ribbon blending the ShinHan Touch Twin markers of Carmine and Clay to give more of a cranberry color to the ribbon.    Mojo Monday Sketch:

Happy Mother's Day

Image
Happy Mother's Day!  My mother spends her days working in her backyard which really needs to be referred to as a garden.  It's a beautiful labor of love. When you step into her backyard, you feel like you are stepping into the pages of a Southern Living or Better Homes & Garden magazine. Unfortunately, I did not get that green thumb from her.  My thumb is more of a 'inky' thumb. She loves hydrangeas so I really wanted to incorporate some on a Mother's day card for her. I used A Mother's Love (B1447) stamp set which is a special stamp set available only for our Hostess'. The paper is from the Skylark paper pack .  I cut a decorative rectangle using the Art Philosophy cricut cartridge for a backdrop for the hydrangeas.  The stamp for the flowers is a two-step technique.   I stamped the base of the hydrangea in Sweet Leaf ink and the outline layer in Desert Sand in.   I tried several colors and colors combinations for the hydrangeas befor...

Thinking of You

Image
I had to take a break from all of the Christmas bustle last night to create a card for my Brother-In-Law.   He had surgery yesterday and for the 1st time that I can EVER remember, this will be the first Christmas that my sister and family won't be joining us for the Christmas Holidays.   I'm so sad that we will miss them this year but I'm thankful that his surgery went well and now he is on the road to recovery.  I wanted to send him a card to let him know that that we were thinking of him! I used the Mojo Monday sketch for this card..... Celebrate Today with Laughing Lola

Image
Today is my sister's birthday!  I had just the sketch I wanted to use for her card!  This sketch comes from Mojo Monday .  It's been a while since I've got to play along with Mojo Monday (or any other challenge actually!).  I've so many other priorities taking up all my time. I selected the Laughing Lola (X7170B)  paper because it seems to reflect Kathie's style so well.  The card base is set upon Laughing Lola purple cardstock (exclusive color to this paper pack) layered on Black Cardstock.   The card measures 7 x 5.  The sentiment is from the Hostess Exclusive set - The Party Is On (C1568) .  I love this stamp set.  It is available ONLY to Hostess so one must host a gathering to get it!  I stamped this onto a shape I cut from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.     I used Black Shimmer Trim (Z1809) for one of the banners at the top.  The leopard print banner is from one of the zip strips from the Lau...

A Nautical Birthday!

Image
July is a month full of birthdays for me.  I've been busy working on my upcoming Autumn Winter Open House but I have to take a break every now and then and create a birthday card.   My Father In Law's birthday is coming up soon.  He lives on the lake so I thought it would be fun to create a Nautical Birthday card! I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch and Close To My Heart's Tommy Paper (X7169B) .   I love the Canvas Compliments (X7169C) that go with the Tommy paper!  They make perfect accents for this card.  The flag border is from the Workshop On The Go Tommy stamp (G1058). The stamped sentiment is from Card Chatter - Birthday (D1475) . The Outdoor Denim Chevron Ribbon (Z1808) adds a nice finishing touch.  Mojo Monday Sketch: Thanks for stopping by!  Stayed tuned for more Birthday cards - I've still got several to create!

Dream Pop Mother's Day Card

Image
After a really busy week I managed to squeeze a tiny bit of creative time.  Next week will be busy too as I get ready for my daughter's graduation party next Saturday.  I've got so much to do!  Last night I had about an hour of ME time so I created this Mother's Day card using our special Dream Pop paper and the Mojo Monday sketch. I absolutely adore this Dream Pop paper!  It's only available during the month of May for just $10 with a $35 purchase of current Close To My Heart products.  We have so many accessories that look great with this paper.   Here, I used the Slate Polka Dot Washi tape (Z1817),  a resin flower pin from the Slate Mini-Medley Accents (Z1787), Silver Glitter Paper from the Black and Grey Glitter Paper (Z1829) and Baker's Twine - Sunset from the Paradise Assortment (Z1702) and Grey Wool from the Neutral Assortment (Z1701).   I used Close To My Heart's Silver Metallic Marker (Z1768) to create 'stitchi...

Cupcakes and Dream Pop

Image
WOW!  Two cards in two days!  I guess I'm trying to make up for missed creative time the last few days.   I created another card with the special Dream Pop Paper that will be available beginning May 1 until May 31 (or until supplies last).  This paper is so much fun I'll be REALLY surprised if there is any left at the end of May! This morning when I checked the blog challenges I got an idea to combine the Mojo Monday sketch with the Heart 2 Heart Challenge (create something with a cake or cupcakes and twine).  I couldn't wait to get home and put my idea to an actual card! Here is what I came up with: I used some Dream Pop pattern paper for the bottom portion of the card and the rest is cardstock from the Dream Pop pack. The cardstock is so cool because it has a resist pattern on it.  Each color has a different pattern.  I used the cupcake stamp from Pun Fun (C1501) - one of my favorite sets!  I used Black Pigment ink for my stampi...

A Paper Flowers Thank You

Image
I created this card using the Mojo Monday sketch to show at a mini card workshop tomorrow. The hostess asked me to demonstrate how to make paper flowers so I made this card for my finished example using the Claire Paper (X7166B) .  I cut the paper flowers with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge in three different sizes - 3", 2 1/2" and 1 1/2".  Rolling them is easy with Close to My Heart's Quilling Tool (Z1795) .   I also cut a flourish to accent the flowers like leaves.  The flourish was long so I cut the flourish in half and then put both ends behind the flowers.  "Thank you" is from the stampset Casual Expressions (D1525). Sympathy Card - Be Still

Image
I needed to make 2 sympathy cards tonight.   It seems that I never have these on hand when I need them but I guess maybe that's ok.  When I am making a specific card for someone I think about that person or that person's family and friends as I'm making the card.  So maybe something a little extra special goes into the card as I'm creating the card. I used my new Be Still (A1141) stamp for this card along with the Mojo Monday sketch. Recipe: 5x7 Card Buzz & Bumble paper (X7164B) Cocoa Cardstock stamped with In the Background (D1540) Creme Brulee Cardstock stamped with Universal Background (D1477) Be Still (A1141) Art Philosophy Cricut <Circle 4> Flutter Paper Shapes (Z1463) inked with Creme Brulee ink Crocheted Flower and buttons from Antiqued Gold Mini Medley (Z1786) Mojo Monday Sketch:

Frame Flair for Mojo Monday

Image
This is one of those cards that just 'came' to me one morning as I was waking up!  Have you ever had that happen? The Mojo Monday sketch came out on Monday and I didn't really have much time to create something. Then, on Wednesday morning as I was coming out of my dream state an idea for this sketch just came to me!  It was all I could think about all morning but I didn't have a chance to put my idea to cardstock and stamps until this afternoon. (Barely getting it posted in time!) My actual card is pretty close to what I had 'created' in my dream state. Here is the Mojo Monday sketch:                                                       I love the idea of the different pattern circles.   I had the perfect circle frames I wanted to try out on my card - Frame Flair (D1546) I stamped the frames in Outdoor D...

For Always with Chantilly Birthday Card

Image
My oldest daughter turns 23 on Saturday.  She is now a beautiful young lady living on her own.   We got her a Kuerig for her birthday and she was so excited!  I never thought I'd see the day my 'little girl' would be excited about a coffee maker!  WOW where did all the time go? I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch to create her birthday card.  I knew all along that I would use our new For Always (X7165B)  paper for her birthday card but I wanted to add a little color and thought this pink piece from the Chantilly (X7163B) paper pack was a great fit for the sketch and For Always.   I used several new products on this card.   Stamp is Perfect Fit - Frames 2 (D1536) and the little cake in the center is from the new Perfect Fit - Birthday (B1417) stamp.  The birthday cake is mounted onto a circle punched from our new Black Glitter (Z1829) paper.  I cut the 'perfect' shape for the frame with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge (Z1790) ....

Another Sneak Peek with Claire

Image
I've been waiting for just the right sketch to show off this next new paper!  This week's Mojo Monday sketch was just what I needed!  Today's sneak peek is Claire !  I LOVE this fun print and can't wait to create some cool layouts with it!   The Claire paper pack (X7166B) features the colors of Hollyhock, Sunset, Cranberry and Outdoor Denim with Cashmere!  Everything on this card will be in our new 2013 Spring Summer Idea Book !  I used a  Perfect Fit - Birthday (B1417)  stamp on this card because I'm trying to make more Birthday cards this year!  I cut our new Outdoor Denim Chevron Ribbon (Z1808) in half.  The 3/4" wide ribbon was just a bit wide for the small square but I really wanted to use this cool ribbon!  I added 3 of the Durable Artisan Studs (Z1816) to the ribbon.   And how about that fabric flower?!  That is one of 3 fabric flowers from the  Claire Assortment (Z1813) .  The assortment a...
